Essential Oil Distillation (no music)
Happy New Year everyone! Here is a rerelease of the essential oil video. Working on a new one around lemon oil extraction that will be coming up soon. I use lemon peel usually and it produces some great oil for all sorts of applications.
I really appreciate your comments, hence this edited version without distracting music.
Yes, the tubes circulating water into the condenser are reversed. I often experiment with running constant cold water at the top of the condenser rather than at the bottom. However, yes traditionally the input valve is at the base of the condenser while the output valve is at the top. Nonetheless, I got some nice oil when extracting this batch.
Always learning, always experimenting.

why the music? I cant
Get rid of the music bro. Wtf are you doing? Great instructional video nonetheless. Thumbs up.
please don't add annoying music in the background
damn that brain damaging music!!!
Music very loud, unpleasant, and annoying. I had to quit the video.
Whatever dude you never bothered to show us how you got the oil out
Oh god the music is dustilling my brain, please godd i just want to make essential oil
Please turn the music off
Holy fck the music
Is it possible in the glass item to distill in steam column the frankincense resin?
Awful background noise! 😊
Yea het ofthe music..
Music made it hard to focus
This guys obviously a supervisor with no idea how the job is actually done.
Great video, please get rid of that awful "muzak"
Whats with the music dude? i'm trying to concentrate on what you're saying!!! Maybe try some relaxing Cello sounds next time
Old is the gold process
Agree about the music…distracting and unnecessary !
Dudes talking like he has a clue what he's doing but he doesn't even pump the water in the right way to the condenser column
Informative video but that Music was getting in the way of explaining hard to concentrate or listen to what the speakers was talking about
Water enters through the inlet closest to the top of the condenser and exits through the inlet nearest to the bottom.
This music sucks
I stopped watching it, because of the annoying music.
Water flow😢
Now distill sassafras oil 😋
Awesome setup! Do you happen to be interested in Alchemy as well or just the scientific side of creating oils and what not.
Where can one find the Modern equipment you show in this video? Thank you And thank you for No music!!!!!
nice very nice
And then you didn’t show how to separate the oil from that water …. Like so many American videos they talk and talk and talk and end up without giving away the essential of the whole subject… waisting my time
that was a amazing video thank you
Who assembled the set up? The water in the condenser should flow from bottom to top😅
Casually standing in front of massive Datura plant.
Are you able to list everything you used in the video? please
Take the money that you would use to buy the still and buy the oils unless you are a masochist.
On the third part, are you adding water or removing water?
btw water should be going up the condenser for better cooling
Excellent
Bro was that Datura in the foreground of the garden? Omg
Iwant to buy distillation unit, do you sell ?
Sorry but your background music is way too loud, it is very distracting for a person like me.
You ever explode one by accident?
this guy doesnt even know how to run a condenser! water IN is always at the bottom! since i had to explain this to you,you wont understand anything further. clown!!!
The condenser column set up incorrectly... the water is supposed to enter from the bottom and exit from the top... that way, the whole condenser fills with cold water which provides the maximum cooling efficiency of the column.
Water should always flow in from the bottom of the cooler (the end closest to the flask) and flow out from the top of the condenser. Doing it this way always guarantees that your condenser will be filled with cooling water. If you set it the other way around, and if for some reason the speed of the water flow into the condenser decreases and becomes slower than the speed of the water leaving the condenser, the condenser will not remain filled with water. If the reaction were unattended, this could cause problems.
First thing I saw lol
Educating the educator good old TH-cam😄
Well, he's right. It's _very_ basic stuff in chemistry to know how to properly set up a distillation apparatus. The guy in the video is presented like an expert, but his setup is frankly whack. @@icantcook9998
@@Roadiedave Same. Seems common among essential oil folk; hardly any of them use their distillation apparatus properly - and ironically are constantly talking about inferior products from big companies too.
@@bveracka ha! So true.
Hi, where did you get this particular distiller?
How much would you say the modern Pyrex set up will run you and where is the most credible stores to buy it from whether in person or online,
135 on eBay
Do you have any recommendations on sourcing the lab glass?
You have the cooling water hooked up backwards. It is supposed to come in from the bottom and out the top.
Where did you get that heat shield you have clamped near the burner?
awesome, thank you! ❤
