[Secret meeting between the Word of Blake Omicron-rank Precentors, circa 3096] I am still alive. I should not be proud of this video, but I am. More is now coming. I promise. We were moving from the hidden worlds, setting up shop in the deep Periphery, project Valkyrie-ing Apollyon, then trying to work out what to DO with our civilians. It's ok. We've got it sorted. Why we are superior and based for painting our 'mechs, and they are inferior for refusing to join in
มุมมอง 3.8Kปีที่แล้ว
That's it. There is no debate, only the unremitting truth. Painted mechs look better, and even fight better. If you're still here after, you can rest assured that future videos will become informative and helpful. No more e-drama videos, I promise. Next in line is how to operate Megamek, followed by the ways to play the classic battletech game in detail in every step of the turn. 0:00 - It begi...
Getting started with Battletech: what to buy first and what to expect.

Today's stream of consciousness brought to you because there's a lot of resources and boxes to choose from in Battletech. If you want to play this game, it might be nice to have some advice. In the interest of not being a damn fool, I just now realised that I neglected to notify that the Locust is in both the ACOAG box and the Alpha Strike Starterbox. They are visibly different variants, if tha...
A (not) quick word to Battletech's 40k refugees
มุมมอง 12Kปีที่แล้ว
There's a sussurus about people fleeing the sinking ship of 40k, and so to those people seeking a better life elsewhere, I give this warning.
I have played a game with the beginner box and am waiting on the "A Game Of Armored Combat". I will definitely be going deep into the hobby, gradually. It's just the right amount of flexibility, content, and affordability for me that others simply fall short of.
Getting into the hobby after seeing a TH-cam short about the King Crab, appreciate the video! As a fellow Aussie, I felt the pain of the shipping fee's.
I use quickcell to power my mech! Only takes a half hour to move 10feet :3
Unsubbed.
way to quiet, but other than that this is a great vidya, thankee!
Average DI fans: NOOOOO! MY RIGHT ARM ARMOUR GOT STRIPPED AND I'M GOING TO LOSE MY AC-20 ON IT! NOOOOOOOOO!!! Average QS enjoyers: Look, I got like 10 more spares of this Totally-Not-Smoothbore-PretendingToBeAC-20 I got from bulkbuy at QS depot and couldn't give a shit if it blow up in my hand nor using it as a blunt weapon so cmon I got nothing to lose here.
The models are bought unpainted with the expectation you will paint them.
I get reliability form Quickcell. They always have spare parts for my Hetzers to keep the things in top condition. Mostly, they come off the Hetzers I already bought, but hey, plenty of spares.
Sounds like a cousin to Discount Dan's Urbanmech spare parts and nuclear arms emporium.
The only difference between Discount Dan's and Quikscell is the number of bootleg barnyard "factories" they have.
Take my money

WE ARE SO BACK! (we never left)
When the Premier countdown is longer than the video
you have a very small collection of novels and books. That is like me 15 years ago. :)
I feel like this talked me out of the system. That’s way too many books. Which book(s) to show up to my local store and play? Why is it so many books and not just one compendium?
Just getting back into the game after many years. I played Battletech when it first released and am happy to see it come back so strong! Great video and break down of resources. Much appreciated! 😊
Is that background music OST from MechWarrior 5? So hauntingly familiar.
I just bought the Clan invasion and the A Game of Armored Combat No actual rulebooks i feel like i messed up
I guess it makes sense to go for the Jihad as long as you can find other people to play that with them. I heard lots of veterans hate the Blakist era.
Folks, hear me out on mech packs and Campaign Ops (or now Chaos Campaigns): this isn't 40k. You can play this game in a way were you just create scenarios and play them with friends (I'd like to do that), rather than build armies for maximum effectiveness. In that context mechs you don't want are just more "monsters" to put on the field. There's no such thing as useless mechs.
thank you ❤️
Hailing from the inland tracts of barren Australian desert. We actually have a thriving BattleTech community here. Not so much 40K though.
Ngl you lost me after alpha strike.
If I just want to keep it as a tabletop game to play casual with friends, "a game of armored combat" box is enough?
I am not amazing painting i just know thebassics of drybrushing paint thinning and simple color theory, but it feels like there is a worm in my brain that bites when i consider playing an unpainted mini, my ocd wont allow me to feild 3 draconis combine mechs and one collorless ghost.
I do like both universes, both have problems. For me battloetech is closer to realism since its closer to known physics, although I feel it would need a bit of a cleanup of some of the silly/irrelevant tech if they ever made a series/film of it. But the fairly recent Paradox Battletech definitely showed you can put a big storyline out that really works well, the universe has depth.
inkcels we are so back

Depressed Star Wars fan here… sick of shit with the IP, jumped to Warhammer and cant get to the tabletop due to PRICE.. now chilling with battletech instead.
Cut to 2024 and they did the same shit with mercenaries.
I litterally got into the game, because I wanted to paint a bunch of robots from my Mechwarrior/Robotech childhood. Then I found out the lore and game are amazing!! BTW gatekeep your hobbies so that the type of people that would say "ablist" stay out.
oh dear what a joke a lot of us old guard battleTech fans are also old guard 40k fans as well played both from the 80s onwards.
I wanna go balls deep but I haven’t gotten anything yet. I’m a Wargamer of 20 years but somehow never really took notice of battle tech I wanna change that.
Battletech is a game you can play with a copy of the rules, and two mechs. You can get buy the 1990's fasa rules copy. Vehicles rules changed a little but that is about it. Chart makers are online. So can swap weapons as you wish.
I like painting my minis. But ya know what I have never seen? A half hour video negging people who paint for painting. Let people game how they want.
Wasn't aware this was such a divisive topic. My 'painting' is pretty trash but from across the table i like to think it is passable.
... gave me a lot to think about, your comments about being discouraged hit home for me - but I'm slowly getting better. Thank you for telling me to get of my arse and do it; as I'm off to get off my arse and make another start on my next mech.
I've painted all of mine and my son's mechs (I have 44 mechs in my force and my son has 25 mechs and a five point star of elementals), working now on my aerospace fighters and infantry and a few new mechs I recently bought. I also paint my buildings and terrain. I enjoy painting.
Would you recommend Alpha Strike or Vanilla Battletech for a 40Kish player?
Alpha Strike is much closer in the rules to 40k. That being said I am not a 40k player, just quoting a friend who is. As for what to get, I would say it depends on what experiance you want. Alpha Strike is more simple and allows bigger armies on the table as it is played faster. Battletech. It takes a bit more effort to get into. Lots of tables and charts and fewer units BUT its rules are incredible flexible. You can use the basic rules to just go mech to mech and have a fun time or you can start to add more and more rules and you can choose whatever you like. There aren't just mechs. You can have infantry, tanks, VTOL, Battlearmor, mechs, dropships, air-space fighters and so on. Want to fight in a city? There are rules to create building and to tear them down in style. Low gravity? Yah there is a rule for that too and more. Pick the complexety you like and just have fun creating your won scenarios. Also its just so satisfying to dismember your enemy piece by piece. Every mech is kinda lika a complete troop of people in 40k. Armor, internel structure, systems to be damaged and ton of different weapon systems all in one figure. It also has two rules I like so much over other games. First of "You hit a target then its hit" no defance diece to ruin your perfect shot. Secondly, damage is done at the same time. No more "I shot first and now I have won the game".
My FASA era mechs are all painted. I got some CGL mechs recently, and I spent time trying to think of a paint scheme that expresses the present me the best. As I sat looking at the bare mechs, I realized that they're already there.
A lot of black. I kept thinking that my phone was turning off. Turn your porn off when making a video so you don't have to use a black screen to censor stuff. Thx. 😂
Never buy anything from woke companys. Only buy what you have to buy and get the rest from pirating sites. Yandex is your friend.

God bless, this shit is inspiring for me to keep up my own simplistic painting
Saying this as someone who migrated from 40K, Battletech's rules are _sooooo_ much easier to wrap your head around. No BS like the nesting dolls of stratagems, command point faffery exceptions to every rule, different exception because of different factions... Ugh, never GW again. Battletech might have a steeper learning curve at the start, but once you know the rules, that's it. You and your opponent are playing the same game from the same book.
Macross does not won the mechs. Studio Nue created the mechs, and owns the designs of the mechs. Big West created the audiovisual product Macross, and Tatsunoko productions owned the rights of distribution of Macross. Tatsunoko sold "all rights" to Harmony Gold. But since everything Tatsunoko had was was distribution rights, not even the ownership of Macross the sudiovisual product. But Harmony Gold did not understand that and believed all rights meant they were the sole owners of all the IP. All this was uncovered when Big West sued Tatsunoko productions in Japan. FASA corporation licensed toys from Twentieth Century Imports. And they do not own the righst on the design. As I said Studio Nue owns the rights. So Harmony Gold sued FASA Corporation and nearly anyone. But the king was naked. Harmony Gold does not even own Macross, and they made Robotech using material from the Macross sudiovisual product. FASA IP ended up in the hands of Topps, which licensed Battletech to Catalyst Game Labs.

Excellent. Well deserved like and subscription.
