      @randk111 yes I have. It cuts small, thumb-diameter trees like butter and it does very well in Blackberry thickets. It does, however, do very poorly at cutting weeds and grass, so just keep in mind to knock all weeds down before you switch heads to chew through thick stuff.

      @bergercreek It was at the coastal dairy farm for most all of its life. So exposed to lots of salty air and acids in manure. 2nd owner next door to us, got it in a running state that got it on and off a trailer to get it home. They disassembled it to replace all the tin metal/fenders, as it was literally falling off. They got replacement fenders, hood ect all installed. But still with all the wiring still taken apart, he passed away, we purchased it as-is in that state. It scooped manure 100% of its life, and the 3pt literally looks brand new, as it was only used for loader work. . We have been looking for a long time for a loader bigger then are 16hp-b7100 that at most lifts 700lbs, and smaller than the 1960s 440 john deere track loader that can lift many tons. I wanted to be gear drive, for a variety of reasons. The possibility of Mass brush hoging or small scale hay making are 2 of the biggest reasons. Then there's the, I can't stand hydrostatic anything, reason LOL.

    • @bergercreek
      @bergercreek 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm not a hydrostatic fan either. I know my L4200 has a loader (obviously not on it now) but we had cylinders fail so many times I took it off. All the wiper seals dry rotted. Very expensive cylinders too, unfortunately. With a loader-heavy tractor you may have wear components on the steering or axle. Hope you can get it going, it's a great tractor.

      @BGWenterprises 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bergercreek One bright thing is by random chance. It has the smallest of the 3 bucket sizes, 60" I believe. But yea, pin abuse from lack of grease and the other 2 things it was exposed to in its first life, is utterly staggering. The control lever has a massive amount of dead movement, before it triggers a valve. Because they where using the little bucket, the frunt end seems nice and tight, and no evidence of leaks. But sitting many years, before we got it, could be hiding leak evidence. . Sooner or later I'll at least do a walk around video of it. I don't have editing ability yet, so I have to just make short to the point videos for TH-cam.

    • @BGWenterprises
      @BGWenterprises 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @bergercreek I have 2 hydraulic shops local to me. I'm hoping I can disassemble one and walk in with all the bore sizes, o-rings seals, and get them that way. As takeing hydraulic cylinders in for a redo is staggering expense, when you factor in there near 200 per hour shop rate..

    The switch you refer to beside the amp gauge is to increase the generator output (when you forget to turn the ignition on and almost drain the battery) or when working at night with the lights on. It increases the generator out from like (don't hold me to these numbers) 7.5 amps to 15. Keeps from just boiling the battery during those 12-20 hour days plowing or disking. Remember, that series started in the 1940's and came with magneto's. Automotive electrical systems have advanced a long way since then. The WD/WD-45 is my favorite tractor to this day right up until my right knee starts throbbing from bouncing against the fender bolt heads hour after hour. The hand clutch system should still be mandatory. As the gentleman who introduced me to those tractors used to say, "The most power you could buy for the money in the 1940's and still the most power for the money you can buy today"!!!!!

    I live in a state where the MOTO is my name.. I honestly LOVE freedom and the LAND OF THE FREE. Here in New Hampshire The moto Live Free Or Die But this is FAR from the Truth. Really far. From one town to the next the Rules> Regulations> Zoning> Restrictions> Ordinances> Permits> and Code. One town you can buy land and put a trailer home the next they are Restricted. One town you can have a camper on the land to stay in while you progress the land. The next the camper is RESTRICTED and not allowed on your property. Obviously im talking about wooded lots that are NOT in town or citys not that new Hampshire has big citys. Ive seen LOTS of people try what you are doing and Hateful people report them to the town and these dirtbags try to find ANYTHING in the book that another person is doing wrong and call the enforcement on the issue. I think of Stony Ridge farm recently. Someone called code enforcement on him about no permits for his electrical service to his barn... THEY SHOW UP!!! He had the sheriff department and code enforcement show up to his farm to inspect the work and how it was done.. He had permits but thats my point. people on here show this simple life and the towns ESPECIALLY in NH dont want that. They want you to build a BIG BIG HOUSE and pay HIGH In some towns INSANE high property taxes based off the INSANE rate some towns are 35 40.00pr 1000 assessed value. So the average house in NH is around 400k at 40.00 per 1000 would be $16,000 a year... Thats 1300 a month for taxes. In my town its much less at around 15.00 per thousand. so my home is 300k so I pay around 5000 a year or 500 around 500.00 a month for taxes. Thats why the towns do NOT want you to build or have a TINY HOME. I would say if there is 50 towns in NH 45 would NOT allow them. And even the ones that DID allow them they would need to pass STRICT building codes that SHEDS WONT PASS!!! So im sure in some towns in other states they have freedom to live how they can afford. IN NH.. We are Flooded from people with Big pockets from MA and NY AND CT... These folks come up here and buy up all the houses and pay way way more then there worth... NH when i was a kid was a small state folks were just real average and not many were rich. Today it getting to be a joke. And the towns LOVE it.. Sorry for the long message but I LOVE this idea and i wish i could share my project more. its just to risky that people will be calling me in for EVERYTHING. In NH there are so many rules that you are going to break them. You cant DIG with a shovel without a permit... You cant disturb the Earth without a permit.... you have to ask the town everything and they say NO about everything. Unless you hire a contractor and let him deal with everything. Again deep pockets from mass... Enough money and your golden.

    If you lean the unit over it will clean the hopper. You will notice it plants will be a little thick. You can cover every other hole on the disk. This will space the seeds farther apart. I have had mine since 1982 and I love mine. Have fun in your garden. If you like lots of tomatoes plants. Look at the Stand N plant. It works best with a 2 in, root ball. It will work with a 4 in. That definitely gives me hope for the L4200 we got. Its the basic shuttle shift, and no cab. From the research ive done. There net 37hp at PTO rated rpm. . oddly none in the 4 tractor series, l4200 being the largest. was made as a hydrostatic. There all a shuttle shift or GST Trans. The shuttle shift needs clutch use when changing directions. The GST can change directions at low speeds with no cluch use. As well as shift up or down without cluch use. . There is also a hard to find dealer installed option, for creeper gears. It gives you the ability to run at sub 1 mph at rated hp RPM, in the lowest gear.

I got it originally when I was managing several small vineyards in the area and needed a tractor that would fit between the rows, run an airblast sprayer, and go very slow. It met the criteria. This old girl has tons of hard hours, both before me and when I got it. I'll try to talk about the GST setup and gearing on the next video when I'll probably limp it up to the house to work on it easier. Right now it's parked by a woodline about 400 yards away.

      @bergercreek i know when it has it, theres an extra lever somewhere, to engage the snail mode. The article I found advised not to put major loads on the engine when engaged. Just loads like what you're describing with the spraying.

      @@BGWenterprises yep, mines got that lever up by the shifter. I didn't realize that was an uncommon feature. I'll be sure and show that in my next repair update.

    This reminds me of my early days of milling - it was this spring. I suggest you get some skids milled next. Get it off the ground. You can tap that ridge down with a hammer. Smooth it right out. Don't forget to loosen the tension on the band when you're done. And get you some wood dogs. You will hit them. You don't want to hit the metal ones.

      Thanks! I oughta make an update video. I've actually got this sawmill on a trailer now and have gone through a couple thousand board feet. I still have metal wood dogs but I'm not a huge fan of the design, and I've gone through several blades and now use Woodmizer. Cuts like butter! I'm actually selling some milled cutting boards and chess boards today at an event.

    WD 45 was an excellent tractor. We used one for years on the farm. Would love to have one with a wide front end. Don't forget about the single hydraulic connection for different attachments. It will lift and gravity let's implement drop. Nice feature to have.

      I did forget about that! I've actually never used that on the WD since I have no 2-point implements and my MF35 has a more modern hydraulic block with returns.

    Did u use the rafter baffles in the ceiling before insulating?

    • @bergercreek
      @bergercreek ปีที่แล้ว

      No we didn't, and honestly we should have. Our first spring had sweating on the insulation in various places. After I installed a kitchen ceiling fan the problem went away completely so we leave the fan on at all times but baffles would have prevented the problem.

    Castor wheels, just drill a hole so you can mount on some stainless steel wire or other sweep to both sized.

      I saw someone put bent coat hanger wire in place. I imagine brushes would work better though.

    How much lumber have you milled so far?

    • @bergercreek
      @bergercreek ปีที่แล้ว

      I've probably milled about 20 logs so far. I mill as I need. This fall I'm planning on going on a milling spree.
