Thank you! I’m trying to use the same seat to build a racing sim but need to know how to wire a power adapter to the back-tilt switch. The wires coming from the switch wire harness are: red /w yellow stripe, red /w green stripe, brown, and purple. Any clue as to how to wire them to a simple +/- adapter to get the back tilt to function?

Watched the whole video expecting to show how to get the power seat to function....
I just got that same part from Amazon and sent it back shift knob is sharp with those grooves on the top it's worth it to buy the one from the dealer for $20 more save my fingers from getting cut plus those grooves on shift knob are annoying on long drives
For any future readers who are installing this. That "spring" is called a pinch clamp. They make a set of pinch clamp pliers to remove and install. It makes its way easier and secures the clamp much better. Thanks for the video.
What did you do to get your seat to tilt forward n backwards? Have same issue got new seat with power tilt. And current sewt doesnt

@@revamped6320 how much did they charge? I’m asking because I have a small tear in my seat, and I found a replacement. The tear is on the backrest. I don’t know if replacing the backrest will cause lights, but I want to know just in case.
@@jonmed changing your backrest should not cause any lights. And it was around 50$ at the time. But you can check around their are repair kits for small tears. I choose this route for power seats, which I'm still figuring out a way to have steady power to them
Did your airbag light stay on after repining the connector?
Yes it has to be reset

Did the power seat part work?
The power seat function for me did not work since my car was not originally equipped with that function. But with an additional harness and fuse you can get 12v to the seat to activate the power function. Hope this was helpful 🙏🏾

You installed the new shift knob more than an inch higher than the old one, look how tight the boot is when in neutral. How NOT to install a MK6 shift knob.
That was noted after the install as I didn't apply all of the pressure needed to make it sit flush. But I assure you the part fits as I drive it daily.
So how do you know the correct height then

I would have to cross check but I'm sure it would work, I believe the passat is equipped with a 6spd as mine is a 5spd. So you would have to make sure the knob have the 6spd layout
Why not just cut off part of your old harness and just splice the 3 wires on to the new seat? There was no need to go buy extra wires when you had a whole seats worth of harness right there
My car was not equipped with a power function. In addition the harness was snipped from the junk yard as they do in various accidents.

Really helpful video.Thanks for posting it. If I might suggest, dropping the background audio down a db or 2 so your voice is more present. And a tip, they're called "butt splice" connectors. You can pick 'em up at almost any hardware supply/home center/or local electronics shop if your town has one.

Can you remove the shift boot only and put back the shift knob?
It is possible but it involes a bit more and you have to be careful with the plastic style ring that covers the knob to boot

@@uetmk4184 lmao, thanks for this. in this -5-20 degree weather here in OK, i can NOT shift INTO R-4-5-6, 1-2-3 gears work, its like the transmission is frozen/gearshifter something
hoping thats what it is, and it does seem like it, its very stiff, and only 50k miles.
@@ThePsycheGardens I hope 4,5,6 are not grinded to smithereens and your transmission is up to operating temperature.
Any issues after? I’m running into the same issue got some new seats and the airbag connector was cut off as well on my passenger seat
I had to reset the air bag light, and what year is yours?
@@revamped6320 mine is a 2011 but the seats I got is a 2015
@@sth801lifestyle you would have to check to see if your vehicle is missing a breaker/relay for the year difference. If not you'll have to run power to the seat to active the power features. I'm researching this as well and will post a video when found.
