The Symbolism of Apple's Logo Exposed [By Red Ice Creations]
Soo giant corporations and firms control media and government? And why? What is this the result of?
The 1980s saw the beginning of deregulation under Ronald Reagan's administration. This trend culminated in the 1996 Telecommunications Act, which removed many barriers to consolidation. As a result, the number of media companies controlling the majority of content decreased significantly. By 1996, only a handful of major players remained, consolidating wealth and power in the industry. Media Mergers of the 90's Jan. 10, 1990: Warner Communications Inc. and Time Inc. complete a $14.1-billion merger, creating world's biggest media conglomerate Jan. 3, 1991: Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. buys MCA Inc. for $6.9 billion July 7, 1994: Viacom Inc. buys Paramount Communications Inc. for $10 billion after winning a bidding war against QVC Inc. Aug 29, 1994: Viacom buys video rental chain Blockbuster Entertainment Corp. for $8 billion June 5, 1995: Seagram Co. buys MCA Inc. from Matsushita for $5.7 billion and renames it Universal Studios Nov. 24, 1995: Westinghouse Electric Corp. buys CBS Inc. for $5.4 billion Feb. 9, 1996: Walt Disney Co. buys Capital Cities/ABC Inc. for $19 billion Oct. 11, 1996: Time Warner and Turner Broadcasting System Inc. complete $7.6-billion merger Dec. 31, 1996: Westinghouse Electric's CBS unit buys Infinity Broadcasting for $4.7 billion Dec. 10, 1998: Seagram Co. buys PolyGram Music Company for $10.4 billion Sept. 7, 1999: Viacom announces deal to buy CBS Corp. (formerly Westinghouse) for $37 billion edit- look up opperayshun. m0ck!ngb!rd and read Chaos by Tom O'Neill, what we see means everything to the govt
I just wanna know, who wrote this? Tbh this woke me up to realize that the media is bs. I love it so much and I’m so happy I can still find it on TH-cam. “Why did they take norm McDonald away? Because he made too many jokes about OJ…” This whole sketch makes 30 rock so much more funnier and also the episode where they did a “live episode” but Tracy Jordan kept breaking character the whole time “because the audience loves it!” Reminds me of when he was on SNL and he worked with Jimmy Fallon and absolutely hated how he would break character and just laugh at the skits all the time…
In the credits, it says it was written by a “Robert Goodgak”…? And illustrated by Schoolhouse Rock’s Bill Peckmann
@@henrygerecke5376Robert smiegel?
@@InfinityandBeyondEdd yeah-it’s hard to read some of the names due to such low quality, but I did read familiar SHR cast names like “Vinnie Bell”(deceased) and “Bill Peckmann” (still living).
@@henrygerecke5376 thank you for letting me know! I can barely read it lol
Needs more views
Would love to see an updated version of this plastered everywhere
Another year passes...
When did this air?
March 14 1998?
2024-2025 and its still relevant.
Conspiracy Rock was better.
Aged like fine wine.
All true ! Aged so well!
I'm surprised they even let this air the first time. Guess no one was paying attention.
Oh boy
I'm glad I bought the DVD with this on it. So true.❤
It may be a Schoolhouse Rock parody, complete with the design and singers, but it isn’t part of the DVD version of the show
I'm glad I bought the DVD with this on it. So true.❤
Jaysus!, people. The ridiculousness of underestimating Americans is the whole point here. It’s satire. Lighten up, everyone. This clearly made its intended message & America reacted. The message about how “Corporations own us!” Is precise. Yet we’re still able to access this piece on TH-cam, so it’s clear that such a message is just not true. Come on, wake up. America will never defeat itself. The citizens just won’t let it. They’re simply not that stupid. 😐
They were spitting straight facts
It is sad that common news reporting has went underground. I guess corporations will sue the living pants off of anyone to protect themselves and their profits.
Conspiracy Theory Rock The infamous SNL animation that went too far and only ever aired once.
2024
Probably the only time NBC was honest
Other than 30 Rock lol they give a bit of truth to a lot of their shows. Like the reality show “queen of Jordan” and the “reality show” “americas kids got singing” they really do spoof on everything they do in that show which I love but I also think is a tactic move because it’s like reverse psychology, you see people understand why they hate it so they won’t hate it, anyways yeah it’s happened more than once
A perfect Companyball parody
This got banned
Possibly because it’s not an official Schoolhouse Rock song, although the artist and singers are the same.
@@henrygerecke5376this is an old SNL skit, they stopped airing it cuz it hit too close to home
How did they get away with presenting this?
Monopolies are bad. That's why the state should have a monopoly on everything.
I didn't see this video suggesting that at all?
Surprised this made it onto the air even once.
Palestine tore the curtain down. Everyone is seeing clear as day who really controls us after all
i bet most of us weren't suggested this vid by the algo...
Hit dog hollers
LYRICS: It’s a mediaopoly A mediaopoly All media is controlled by a few corporations and deregulations by the FCC You mean Disney, Fox, Westinghouse and good ol’ G.E.? They own networks from CBS to CBDC They can use them to say Whatever they please And put down the opinions of anyone who disagrees Or stuff about PCBs What are PCBs? They come from electric power plants built by Westinghouse and GE They can give you lots of cancer that can hurt your body But on network tv, you rarely hear anything bad about the nuclear industries Like when Westinghouse was sued for fraud? Which time? GE made effective bolts; it was an unreported crime And it was boycotted for operating nuclear bomb plants just to squeeze a dime That’s a footnote, by the way A footnote protects you from folks that doubt what you say Now maybe the voices in my head will go away But they just don’t care They’re all saying pretty things to corporate welfare What’s that now? They get billions of subsidies from the government It’s supposed to create jobs, but that’s not how it’s spent They use PACs, soft money to support congressmen Who will vote for weapon programs again and again And let them dump toxic waste where the young ones play And giving GE the bullets that shot JFK You can trickle to this chain every time you buy a product Sponsored on a shelf That’s what NBC doesn’t want you to know So the next ti----- Please stand by, please stand by We sense technical difficulties Supposedly-so if you see a please stand by You know it’s all part of GE’s big lie Why’d they take Norm McDonald away? Because he made too many jokes about OJ But Loren Michaels overruled, now don’t be fooled Even Marion Barry went to the same high school… END Possibly sung by Jack Sheldon and Essra Mohawk
Hey thanks for archiving this
FUNNY PART 1:44

The hobo reminds me of Adhdu’s Homeless Uncle Sam
Bump
this ain’t 1998 tho, this is 2002-2004. tf
......Yeah. yeah.
I don't remember this one from the VHS haha
It feels like it should’ve been on Money Rock (designed by Peckmann and all)
Palestine
your channel was ahead of its time
Sounds like Leon Redbone singing.
I think it’s Jack Sheldon
Why did they take norm mcdonald away lol
Because he made too many jokes about OJ
The voices in his head goin away is a lil voice 2 skull joke?
Back in the day we would share this as an avi video file over kazaa and winamp
Making all media for profit and dependent on audience engagement over quality might not have been such a sustainable idea after all?
Wow...1976! Now is the time to not stop talking about these things!
It’s so funny seeing republicans watch this and think they aren’t the problem here. It’s all neoliberal capitalism. Thats what this is a critique of.
Who did the animation on this? Perfect _Schoolhouse Rock!_ style! I’ve been looking for someone who can animate in that style for a parody I wrote three years ago and have tweaked since then.
J.J. Sedelmaier
@@ConnectedShock Thanks! Gotta find a way to get in touch with that person (hope they’re still alive and active). Unfortunately, the woman I wanted to sing it, who sang the original, passed away on December 10. 😢
@@COMALiteJI believe you’re talking about Essra Mohawk. By the way, under J.J’s name is Bill Peckmann, who I heard is still alive to this day. He designed songs like Conjunction Junction and Verb: That’s What’s Happening, as well as several Money Rock songs like The Check’s in the Mail. (Heck, I’m still struggling to draw Fred, the mailman from the latter song) I really want to get in touch with Bill on LinkedIn though I keep getting spam on there from people who aren’t him.
@@henrygerecke5376 I was indeed talking about the sadly late, great *Essra Mohawk.* I wish I’d contacted her while she was still alive and healthy enough to do it herself. A voice impersonator just wouldn’t be as good. Still, though, it’d also need the visuals to be fully effective. I wrote not just the parody lyrics but a proposed animation script as well. The song in question was IIRC written by Lynn Ahrens, and I think she’s still with us. I’d also’ve wanted to run it by her for permission (legally not required because of Fair Use exemption for parody, but I’d want to follow Weird Al Yankovic’s example and ask permission anyway because it’d be the right thing to do).
@@COMALiteJ I think you could talk to her about it, since she’s still around; also, Val Hawk from Dollars and Sense seems to be a good replacement for Mohawk, just like Luther Rix (The Check’s in the Mail) sounding a lot like Jack Sheldon (who I believe sang this song). Oh, and definitely try talking to Peckmann, and possibly Phil Kimmelman.
It still amazes to this day that SNL actually gave this the greenlight.
2024 - and more important than ever...
Seeing this for the 1st time Dec 2023, WOW.
I bet the people behind this ended up “disappearing” soon after this aired. Stay safe y’all.
