I had a craniotomy in Feb 2024, so 11 months ago. I had a large unstable, misshapen, wide-base aneurysm clipped. I have multiple screws, titanium plates, and clips in my head. I still have overwhelming fatigue, my balance is off, and I have left-side weakness. I have a hard time explaining things, finding words, and following complex directions. I get "brain overload" when there are multiple things or people around me. I don't care about the scar. It's still sensitive and numb, but that's the least of my worries. Why doesn't anyone talk about these real long term effects????

Pretty straight forward explanation...maybe a little light on post operative pain management, but a really helpful video. I have a 5.5cm X 5.3cm X 3.3cm tumor in my right Anterior Temporal Lobe (Temporal Pole) and somehow, don't ask me how, I suspect the "It takes Steel to Heal" phenomenon is in my future. Your video was very helpful, Thank You.

I get Botox for my hemifacial spasm. My MRI showed Chiari Malformation; a blood vessel where it’s not supposed to be; I have idiopathic intracranial hypertension; I have occipital neuralgia and trigeminal neuralgia; I have curvature of the spine and upper cervical instability; tinnitus and my jaw is maligned (and clicks). I’m forgetting something, but I’m fine, this is fine, everything is FINE! My Botox costs $3,800 out of pocket after insurance covered $2,300; I’m supposed to get this three to four times a year! They won’t give me the surgery because it’s only 50% success rate, I’ve been told, and, obviously, my insurance is lacking. ‘Just take two A•leve and call me in the morning.’ …I’m FINE! 😅

I've not needed any pain meds after c6-7 ACDF surgery on Wednesday 12/11/2024. When I woke up in recovery the nurse asked me if I needed any pain meds, my answer was my pain level was lower than the daily pain I've been dealing with for the last four years.

I had this surgery. I was in ICU almost 3 days. I couldn’t walk or drive for 3 weeks. I am now 3 months out from surgery and my neck still aches. This surgery is more difficult than described. I’m healthy and lift weights in the gym 3 days a week and walk least 2 miles per day and have for the last 30 years. My aneurysm had not ruptured. I had a vasospasm in the surgery and blurred vision when I came out of surgery.

Every surgery is different, and everyone's body/injury is different. My first surgery was 27 years ago, and I just had it for the second time this last Wednesday. My throat hurt a little bit, so I took cough drops to help. No one should complain, you should be thankful. Listen to your body and allow yourself to heal.

I'm so glad I had this done! Make sure you check out your surgeon's reviews! I had this done (not this doc) after prednisone and muscle relaxers were prescribed to no avail. The surgery had my pain gone the next day, some post op pain for a few days. I rested and refrained from bending, twisting and lifting for almost a month and kept to very short gentle exercises. I'm now 5 weeks out and walking miles every day, feel great!! I do recommend walking from day one, starting slow and short.

I have kyphoscoliosis. My right rib cage is engulfing my hip. My lungs, heart, and stomach are compressed and strained. I can't stand straight and walk hunched over. Ive been to terrified of spinal fusion surgery to have it done. This happened to me in less than 2 months time when is was 50 years old. Ive seen many specialists and no one can figure out why this happened. Im 52 and recently decided ghat i should go ahead with the fusion surgery. The pain and humiliation have me knocking on deaths door. I fugured im a gonner if i dont have the surgery. Then i started to read ghe comments here znd all my fears about surgery came back. Im trying to decide if i should just accept what ive become and not make it worse by doing the surgery and having something go wrong. Like waking up a ward of the state because im paralyzed from the neck down or having the rods snap off and cause all kinds of shit storms. Or wake up in unimaginable, irreversible pain and so on. Suddenly looking like a freak and being single the rest of my life doesnt sound so bad. At least its predictable and secure. Any thoughts from anyone? Thank you.
