Nairobi City Sunday Vlog | City Walk Like Never Before #nairobi
Haile Selassie Avenue in Nairobi, Kenya has a rich history, including its origins as White House Road and its naming after the Ethiopian emperor Haile Selassie:
Former name
The avenue was originally known as White House Road, and was the first of ten avenues that came to define Nairobi's city center.
Naming
Mzee Jomo Kenyatta named the avenue after Haile Selassie, the Emperor of Ethiopia from 1930 to 1974. Some say Kenyatta named it because Ethiopia had the highest literacy rate in Africa, while others say it was because Ethiopia was never colonized.
Railway station
The avenue was home to the initial railway station, which was built in 1899 as a mabati structure and upgraded in 1912. The Kenya Railways Headquarters is located right in front of the station.
Haile Selassie
Haile Selassie is considered a defining figure in modern Ethiopian history. He was also a key figure in the Rastafari religious movement, which emerged in Jamaica in the 1930s. He helped establish the Organization of African Unity (now the African Union) in 1963. #kenya #travel #africa #africancity #nairobicity #vlogvideo #vlog #vlogkenya #vlogs #nairobi #streetwalk #street #streetvibe #street #uhurupark #sunday #nairobicitycenter

The Wagalla massacre was a massacre of ethnic Somalis by the Kenyan Army on 10 February 1984 in Wajir County, Kenya.[1] Government troops were ordered to stop clan violence in the area, and did so by first detaining some 5,000 locals at an airstrip, denying them food and water for a week, and then shooting them. The massacre was not investigated by Kenya's government until 2011. The massacre to...

WOOOW am happy to here this from you wooow
@martinvanevrah keep the positive vibes Martin, no room for hatred and jealousy, the same Way there can't be greater Bantu, nilotes and greater cush of our Ethiopian brothers, greater Somalia is a propaganda , we'll migrated and own this land as republic of Kenya 🇰🇪, let our kids embrace the fruit of united east African community than dividing them on tribal lines in the name of nationalist Somali or Oromo or Bantu or nilotes . We have Somali Bantu living peacefully, intermarried and rose to the ranks of professors in Somalia . No Kenyan law denies a boy from Nfd also the same rights Fr , brilliant minds don't perpetrate propaganda they're realistic and live the facts
With all due respect, somali bantu are respected community in our country,no one discriminate against them , senior officials of the government and civil society are from that community, they have farms and businesses,we intermarry and sometimes there is fight between them and other Somalis , I hope you come to somalia and see it with your own eyes . Even cusiotic Somalis fight each others. But don’t trust the lies on the internet . Thanks

Some Somali bantus have their own language, Chizigula. The rest of us speak Af Maay dialect of Somali. And many Somali Bantu people migrated to Somalia via Jubba river. The slave trade only brought additional Bantus to Southern Somalia. Somali Bantus are a melting pot of different peoples who came to Somalia differently. Whether it be the native Makane and Shiidle sub tribes, the Shambara tribe that migrated here or the Zigua that were brought here, regardless of all that we call ourselves “Reer Goleed” or “Gosha”, which means “the people of the river vine forests”. We are very similar to the Pokomo people of Kenya when it comes to dancing and even everyday clothing.
Was trying to find out if you have your language but it was hard to get reason maybe I didn't go deeper in each sub clan,am humbled for the information another thing when I was planning to make this video I thought about it's out people Will come up against saying they isn't Somali Bantu but am happy from the comments that for sure we have the Somali Bantu in Somalia
There was no slave trade in somalia. I think you’re thinking of Tanzania
When Bantus were passing through Rwanda they were given cows by Cushites "Somali" group and introduce them as pastoralists and Burundi I am positive
@@Akhas-z1gThere was slave trade, but it was like a port, and some stayed, from Mogadishu to bossaso, a lot of slaves came from South Somalia like Tanzania, Mozambique,Zanzibar Slave trade mostly comes from wars ethnic or tribal wars
@@Akhas-z1g 😂 Somalis were the most prolific slave traders well before islam

The somali Jarerwayne are true somalis not different from me. Please keep in heart the somali kushatic group aren't at peace within them and we fight each other, discriminate eachother more than ever we could discriminate the jareer somalis. Thats a big fact. In 1990 every somalis killed each other by tribes. Mention any tribe fought the jarer somalis? In 1990 the biggest tribe of somalis Darood, they shops were looted, girls raped, they over taken their lands in mogadishu and kicked out siad barre who was descendant of darood. I gave you that example so you know if the biggest tribes are done wrongly what do you expect to other people? The same thing. But the thing is that jareer people were not a tagged for any of the kushatic somalis at all. The only thing i really hate from the kushatic somalis that i was born, is that the racism slurs. Somalis has a cultural bad language even thou they might call Bantu somali Jareer its not out of Hate or dislike. We dont have racism at heart but we talk shit alot. In the end we have a religous belief. Every muslim is our brother. Much love to jareerwayne ❤ Iska ilaasha jareerta wadamadakle yayna idinku keendiriin wacalada😂😂😂
Thank you for taking your time to explain this ,yes during war everyone is a target but on this l was covering the Somali Bantu that is why my point went on them ,the civil war broke all over the Country so the weak ones suffered alot , in my last video l asked about many flags so along the way l have understood it well ,the flags represent each clan or each state and that is where all everything starts.
