Xtreme Caged Combat - RECKLESS ABANDON
Thanks for allowing me to pass and showing concern.. it took me about 2 min to get rolling .. finished 2nd moto but missed day 2 legs was sore.. i have crash posted in short putting full video up this week.
Glad you're ok. Sucks you had to miss day two. Those roots were nasty.
@@gxdragon thank you.. yes them things was monsters. Glad that was the only time I went down.. I will not be at the next one but best of luck to you 🏁
Is this the transcript more or less? Mr. Field again. He’s really relaxed, and once he gets a chance he “takes it.” His side is a little stiff. He threw it, but no follow to get a point.
The Lebanese team participants names are Saad Chaccour, Patrick Achcar , Amir Raad , George Yerikian , Fadi Boulos and Charles Saydé
Evans ( USA ) vs Fady Boulos ( Lebanon) in the first part then Evans vs Patrick Achcar (Lebanon) . This was 1973 the first time a Lebanese karate team participated in a world Shotokan championship The late Hideki Okamoto was the Sensei of the Lebanese team with Hiroshige Nakayama
Hi ! Can we have more recording on that match and shotokan tournament 1973 cause my dad was number 33 and we can’t find any old videos thx 🙏
I'm fairly certain that is NOT Mikio Yahara fighting Tanaka. During that time, Yahara did not fight like this. And, not to mention, his body is not the same as Yahara's.
DAMN ICHIRO DRANOFF
Yup. Giving the benefit of the doubt to the Japanese. What else is new.
Ski was a fierce competitor. Wonder what he is up to these days.
Tanaka vs Mikio Yahara
why you speededup the video lol
+Hamid Benamra lol what is that even supposed to mean :))
I saw my first sensei kick and lift James Field off the ground - Torajiro Mori. I was the only one who saw this.
Tanaka vs Yahara Mikyo
I agree that the rules of modern kumite have stifled our knowledge of nearly all of the locks and throws that were part of older forms of the art. However, in my opinion, at least some of the moves from this video are probably more closely associated with other artforms. Old karate would not have included pinning techniques, as attempted here, as would wrestling or judo.
very fast! very good!
hallo iam hassan hamdar please how kan i get the adress or telefonnumber of sensei hiroshigenakayama hewas my sensei in lebanonin the year 1974 and he had us filmed in that year in normandy hotel bodukai in beirut how kan i get kopy from that video thanks.
@kenseisato1989 and thank you for the answeres :)
@CLEVELEFS Empi? Unsu? are those katas?
Mike you were awesome! They shouldn't have stopped the fight. You definitely dominated. You'll get em next time! J DiClemente
I got my Dirt Bike today!!!YA!!!
@ndileonardo Not in this video
Shihan Field is incredible.
Tanaka vs Gerald Evans.
odeio qndo aceleram os videos -.-
I'm the son of Raynald Campbell
iv'e done different styles of karate for a year, mainly shotokan and kyokushin. and on top of that tae kwon do for 3 years. currently training in muay thai under the TBA for 3 years both are great but if you wanna last long in the sport you have to train smart. don't be a yahoo and go all out every single practice session
the real deal of shoto kan right here.... had a complete system, throws, striking, foot work, take downs... shit man i can only say that the older the martial arts get the more washed up/evolve they become
@BloodyBay Anybody can be beat, I've known many MA guys that weren't very good at what they do and I've known some street brawlers that were. As far boxing not being a good MA, I disagree. You can't compare the rules (which are designed to protect the fighters) for fighting in a ring with what a boxer is capable of doing to protect themselves on the street. karate tournaments have rules too, it's not an all out brawl.
@BloodyBay Don't discount those Jack-of-all-trades. I go to the gym 3-4 time a week (when possible) and spend 2-3 hours training each time. There are kids in there that spend twice that and more training in MMA perfecting their grappling, stand up fighting or both.
@BloodyBay There's nothing wrong with sticking to what you love. Shotokan is my main style but the truth is, I just got bored. I started at 12, I'm in my 40s now stepping and reverse punches... just got boring. If you enjoy what you do then do it. Why worry about what other people think?

@gxdragon Truth! Even a Sandan can be bested by a common barroom brawler if the Sandan can't translate his practice into an actual free fight. Of course, we should make the distinction between sport forms and fighting forms. Western Boxing, with all its sporting rules, makes a poor martial art, but the ancient Pankration boxing from which it stems serves better. Roman Pankration fighters used to die in matches, even without wearing cesti. Sounds like an effective (if brutal) style to me.
@myguitardidyermom12 I agree. It does seem like so many MMA matches involve a bunch of jack-of-all-trade dabblers. "Oh, I know how I'll make myself the ultimate warrior! I'll take a little Traditional Muay Thai mixed with some American Kickboxing for the kicks, some Tang Soo Do Karate for the punches, some Shin'ei Taido for the hip throws and rotary throws...." What's wrong with sticking to one style and mastering it? Has that sort of discipline really become so unfashionable these days?
sounds like master okazaki speaking
whoever said karate doesn't have Ground tech watch 0:56
@sixyears Yeah as a karate practitioner i've learned some jiu jitsu submissions and judo throws and escapes. People percieve karate as a striking art which is mostly true in styles like kyokushin but in shotokan and wado ryu judo and jiu jitsu are incorporated quite a bit.
@lukkiop Also Karate in it's most tradition form is very similar to Jujitsu. In Shotokans case Judo and Jujitsu were part of the curriculum and still are, especially in more traditional schools.
@sixyears Yeah and there are even twice as many now than there were 7 months ago when i said this. GSP, Chuck Liddell, Lyoto Machida, Katsunori Kikuno, and Bas Rutten are all karate guys with a combined record of 100 wins with 16 losses. There are less karate guys in mma because they often dedicate their lives only to karate but the few that there are have dominated.
@lukkiop this is true, there are at least 35 karate Based MMA fighter and they usually the best. All of them have a very good win to loss ratio, as in several more wins to few losses. People like to bash Karate in general but it's actually dominating the MMA scene.
ya i think is evans, feilds has wide shoulders....
Yes
Is the narrator Okazaki? It sounds like him...
Ski had a falling out with JKA...he has his own dojo. Used to be next to Eastern State Prison in philly but it has since moved.
Had the honor of training with Senseis Evans, McKenna, Farrachio and Okazaki Shihan while living in Philadelphia. 4 different dojos, slightly different teaching styles, one intensity! Don't be jealous! :-)
Funny that as recent as 2 years ago no one gave a sh*t about shotokan karate, not even care or take the time to badmouth good old Funakoshi's art. And now that Machida (along with his brother and other TMA-based MMA fighters) gained notoriety for beating up MT, BJJ, wrestlers, etc. suddenly, right out of nowhere, there are hundreds of posts against karate and how it is useless against real full-contact styles.
You're right. The clip is so short but I should have reviewed it more carefully. Thanks for posting these nice historical gems.
You're mistaken, that's sensei Evans on the right. Though you can't make out his face his fighting style is easy to pick out. He has long legs, he stands a certain way, the hiking up that sleeve and the way he throws that feint...
James Field on the right vs. then JKA Kumite Champ from Brazil whose name I don't know. Around early 1970's. Sensei Field won.
wat is it like doin muay thai and shotokan karate cos im a karateka but i want to start muay thai as well any advice?
