Contras' rapid stairs descent at end. Mind blowing feat. And this music really grows on you with repeated hearings. One of the best Ive ever heard.
These lower POV up-close vids at smaller venues are fantastic. You can hear everything and it's amazing with great corps performers like these. Great service you did with this upload. The trumpet solo at 9:50 is so outstanding. The music this year was awesome. The fast march at the end is so clean and they sound great. But those damn "bloo" cheers sounding like boos. Every newcomer is horrified when they hear it. I'm tired of explaining to rookie friends that they're not booing. And just ONCE i would like to hear a stadium CHEER full out, rather than half the people NOT cheering, but "blooing." You lose half the audience response. Unfortunate tradition.

A HUGE thank you for posting! I loved this playlist featuring the UK Pep Band so much that I am going to order a copy of the CD on eBay even if I have to pay a premium. Being a UK fan since I was 6 years old, this music brings back wonderful memories of attending the basketball games at Rupp Arena with my mom who sadly passed over 21 years ago. Her passion for the UK Wildcats lives on in me. The music presented is just as I remember it. This rendering of “My Old Kentucky Home” is one of the most beautiful in existence. I literally choked up with tears at the end. Again, thank you so much for posting. GO BIG BLUE!

Agreed. Best sound. Made with a cell phone it appears. Or hand held cam. You can really hear all the playing so clearly. Up close recordings can be awesome. This one certainly is.

3:31 is the moment where the audience realizes they're lost. They can't figure out the pattern-- there's no logic or clear progression to hang on to. They can't clap because they're scratching their heads and saying where's the pattern? What happens next? The camera man doesn't know as he frantically pans left and right.

Don't worry about the concept. Most corps just make up that stuff anyway. Just enjoy kick ass music played very well with a great drill to match. Or as I call it....drum corps as it used to be.

I wish they would all stop with the "blooing" already. I know it's tradition, but not all traditions are good. It makes any newcomer convinced the audience is actually booing a rival corps or something. Traditions shouldn't require explanations as such. I was hoping it would have stopped when they won their first championship, but apparently not. Any boo sound (or bloo) is always alarming and jarring for a listener. It's negative in nature. Again, my opinion only.
darren motise I gotta disagree with you, boss. I think what makes a good tradition is it's uniqueness and it's origin. The Bloo is certainly unique, and is a crowd favorite, and I believe it will stay for a very long time.

I love it. Because even if a rival corps decides to boo them, it just adds to the cheering.
When's the last time you've ever heard booing at that fervour following any kid's performance. Any newcomer who thinks the crowd is booing, is not fit to spectate anyway.
I am certain this is one of the best shows this year, and I'm happy there is no singing overkill like so many others, but I'm hoping something changes with this show because the show itself is still not exactly spectacular. I think the designers fell a bit short this time. My opinion only. They could still win of course, but I wish the members were given something a little more mind-blowing. I only saw them in the theater on June 22, so maybe something will change. Who knows.
darren motise I agree with you. If Carolina Crown cut the part of their show with the singer I'd prefer it to this show. And The Cadets show has no choice but to have singers, but I think they do it well.
David Keeton I could not agree more. CC signed their own walking papers with that extended vocal segment. That seems to be the main complaint most have with their show. And Cadets chose a rather Satanic version of a Mass setting, so that won't go over too well with viewers. CC has the most astounding opener I've heard in years. Too bad they ruined it with the singing. It's looking like the BC, SCV, and the BD will be fighting it out next month. But I would love to see CC come close to a win because of their amazing brass this year. And that Bach opener of theirs. I just don't see where a five minute Wicked mediocre solo comes in.
darren motise I absolutely loved their Bach opener. I love Little Fugue in G Minor and when I saw it in the theater it gave me high hopes for the show and it really was all going well till the singing began. I have a feeling Santa Clara may pull ahead this year too.

Garrett Thompson I took this video so I could watch it back on my own with no intention of putting it on TH-cam. I personally prefer seeing the hornline, but next time I record a corps I'll be sure to show everything.
