Thanks, Jim Henson (1936-1990)!

It's been a long time since I watched Miss Peach of The Kelly School on video cassette. I didn't even know the show started out as comic strips. I just watched it now and it brought back nostalgia.
Fascinating to see completely unequal the seasoned Today Show crew was to the Muppets. All their attempts to be hip and cool with the Muppets looked stiff and stale, while the Muppets ran rings around them.
Bert is silly
I used to watch him as a little little kid what a talented man
Watched it as a kid in the 80’s .. watched it so many times that I still remember all the dialogues .. word for word 🥰
Wow! Conjured Magic!
WOw what a hidden gem. On the fly, just like that, he sung one of the most iconic songs in a telivision show, on whim at the request of Johnny. Never would've even known had I not watched the whole thing. Thanks for this Henson moment caught on film and put on YT.
So this was set in good ol New York?
7:44 Hotchie Motchie! 11:15 - 11:29 Whoa, look at her go! 21:32 - 22:11 Wow, I guess love does conquers all.
21:42 Aww! 🥰
10:19 Uh-oh, here comes Desdemona. 10:43 O...kay. 11:21 Whoa. 😮 11:27 Whoa, she's being romantic. 17:12 I see why. 17:48 Arthur likes Desdemona.
I love this show! Never seen it before until now.
😂 when I was a little girl, growing up in the 60s, I seen TV shows with famous people doing shows based on old children's stories. But I got to tell you, i have never seen or heard of this show 😲😲😲😲. Thanks 🙏👍🏼🙏 for posting it 😃😃😃😃.
What a gem to find this ❤ i reckon Jim Henson would love Pepe the King Prawn 🦐 😂
Is the Episode "Career Day of the Kelly School?"
No, it's called "Back to School."
I LOVE KERMIT I LOVE JIM HENSON
I first saw these when I lived in Frankfurt, Germany ! So awesome 🤩
why no sound for some of the acts?
I just watched an episode of What's My Line from 1959, with Art Carney as the mystery guest. This production was mentioned, and here I am to watch it on Oct 4 2022!
This skit proves to me Jim used psychedelics
Probably, but artistic genius doesn't necessarily require more psych to get more creative.
No, it doesn’t prove anything like that. He did a lot of things similar to this since the beginning of his career.
I was watching the honeymooners, and I thought lemme Google art carney, so funny on that show
This show was in January 1974. Jack Benny would die the day after Christmas of that year
Eye was fortunate enough in the 1970's to attend 2 Bil Baird Marionette shows...One was The Wizard of Oz and the second was Ali Baba and the 40 Theives....Both were magnificent and enchanting....His theater on Barrow Street in the Village was spectacular garnishing olde Knight lifesize marionettes in cases on the side of the theater and the Tin Soldier Marionettes stored in the mens room basement....We were invited backstage to see his entire workings of the theater and my father by memory was able to take us home where he built and entire marionette theater for us in our basement using Pelham Puppets from England.....Bil Baird was the true Master who trained many other puppeteers including Jim Henson and Frank Oz....The gift of being able to see two of his shows through our school system was very special and meeting the Master backstage after a show also added to the spectacular....Hail Bil Baird....He was the great innovator and creator of so many fine shows and puppets/marionettes....Eye was blessed to have had that experience...His Japanese daughter was the ticket taker att the time as well att his three floor brownstone in the village...First floor was the theater, second floor was the Bridge and puppet control center and the third floor his workshop...All his puppets had round eyes like a pie with a slice cut out of it...his signature eye set for each puppet and Marionette....Usually his shows were followed up with a meet and greet the Master spectacular after the show where he played with Charlemagne the Lion on two hand puppet openings that adorned the marionette theater in the middle...The theater held about 199 seats and was lovely...Backstage you saw how dangerous it was to be a Bil Baird Puppeteer knowing how they manipulated themselves on THE BRIDGE behind the scenes....Truly a remarkable Artist Master....His puppets and marionettes all had signature eyes painted like a pie with a slice cut out of it and his three floor theater had the stage on the first floor, the bridge and control center on the second floor and the third floor used as his workshop...for puppet making....Truly an Ambassador and Master of early puppetry training what would later be many of the puppeteers for The Children's Television Workshop Muppets who Jim Henson created and trained with Bil Baird first before branching out on his own to create MUPPETS=Half Man half Puppet hence the name Muppet....
Thank you for sharing this memory with us. I too had Pelham Puppets but in nothing so near as elaborate a set-up as your Dad did for you. I first saw Mr. Baird's puppets -- as many did -- in the Lonely Goatherd segment of THE SOUND OF MUSIC. Very close to that I saw them on the TODAY Show and a DISCOVERY program hosted by Frank Buxton. A year later I was attending their performances at the Chrysler pavillion at the New York World's Fair where Baird constructed marionettes, rod puppets and hand puppets out of auto parts. I wrote the DISCOVERY program and they put me in touch with Mr. Baird at his Barrow Street Studio where I began a correspondence with the man himself. He very generously answered all my questions and letters concerning the construction and operation of marionettes with which I had a consuming interest. A couple years later his beautiful book THE ART OF THE PUPPET was released. I stood outside Baird's Barrow Street Studio but unfortunately never got inside so I am grateful for your description here.
Jack Benny's comment!
I wish I could see Bil Baird's ART CARNEY MEETS THE SORCERER'S APPRENTICE of the following year .. I wonder if it even exists anymore
Unfortuneately..Jeffie..there are no surviving videotapes or..tv kinnie film prints of"Art Carney Meets The Sorcerer's Apprentice".
This would not be the last time Carney worked with puppets: The Great Santa Claus Switch!
And "The Great Santa Claus Switch"is here at You Tube.

Good Work With The Video.
I just enjoyed this, for the first time since 1958, when I was seven. This time I am able to admire Ogden Nash's song lyrics. How well
(cont.) How well I remember the wolf! How true to life the simple story is.
Jim and kermit 💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚💚😥
The wolf was actually voiced by George S. Irving. This is according to IMDb.

I haven’t seen this episode and show in 25 years! Glad someone finally uploaded episodes
I just read the biography of Jim Henson and although I knew it, I became very sad at the end, the part about him passing away.
