Not sure how it is for sport in the US, but in France many cities will have clubs where adults can play as amateurs be it rugby, volley-ball, handball so on and so forth. As for rugby many club will have veterans section where guys over 50, even early 60 will go on playing... and not touch rugby 😉. Glad to see you appreciating the sport, some older games are accessible for free if you search a bit

You mentioned the Olympics, in that they play the 7 a side version, only 7 minutes each half, with 7 players in each side, played on the same size pitch as 15 a side, so there's a lot more running involved. The US team are actually pretty good at 7's, especially the ladies side. At least your guys got to the Games, our team, the British one, didn't even qualify.🤨
