Bigyaan (BiGyanology) strives to make Science teaching and learning fun and engaging and easy to do. It supports teachers to make their lessons as hands on and activity based as possible. It hopes to inspire a life long love of the subject. Towards this end we create content that supports teachers, home educators, science enthusiasts and students make and do things with their own hands. All materials used are either cheaply and easily available or use low-cost and standard school lab equipment. The aim is to ensure that every child participates fully in the learning process and is not a silent by-stander in the classroom.
We have now started a series on microscopy bringing to you the excitement of looking at the world beyond our normal vision from exploring onion scale cells, plasmolysis to microbes you would find in a placid lake. You will be surprised and the action packed microscopic world.

House Swift: Apus affinis
House Swift (or Little Swift, Wikipedia)
Few months ago in a very hot summer day ( 19th April 2024), suddenly a baby house swift fallen from her nest. I took it in and given her some water. I kept her for the day ( and night ). Next day, she flew back. May be, in very hot weather she got a sun stroke. She drank a lot of water ( as you can see ).
We have the colony lust 30 years in our house - my mother-in-law Ms. Soma Chanda said.
This bird is a very avid flier and catches insects in flight. Their legs are not for
parching (rather they are for hanging ) [ So, they are placed in the family Apodiformes ].
I am indebt to ' The Book of Indian Birds' by Dr. Salim Ali (BNHS) from which i took the description of this bird.

Why we cut hydrilla Obliquely in photosynthesis?
Not obliquely, always! Even 90 degree will do! We cut the Hydrilla and keep it such a way, that cut part remains up! This, to ensure that oxygen (O2) bubbles can come out from here and can be collected inside the water-filled inverted test tube (kept there)! If you get a shell or fossil, you can get an impression in the clay (plasticine). That works as a cast, where you can give P.O.P (semi solid). After a day, you can open the plasticine cast and get POP ‘fossil’. Happy Teaching!
