    Make me sick to think that if stupid genrals of French army would have listen to De Gaulle in 1940, Nazi would never won the battle of France. We had the most powerful tank platoons of europe, at this time germans just still have horses and light tanks.

      yep whe see what a right management give in the battle of Stonne or the 1940 4° DCR tank division as commander colonel de Gaulle..about Stonne say a german general: "this was the 1940 Verdun" for us...

    the M3 lee was actually a very good tank but thanks to an arcade game called "World of tanks" and a man by the name of "The Mighty Jingles" it's given the lee a bad name. This thing would have been HORRORIFYING to the enemy infantry, 3 flavors of death coming your way, a rapidfire 75mm HE spitting gun, a quick reacting rapid firing 37mm gun and 4 m1919 machine guns. That commanders capola on the top of the main turret can rotate and fire a m1919 machine gun without exposing a crew member. I don't think that there is any other mass produced tank that can do that without turning the whole turret no man with a panzerfaust can sneak up on this thing. with it's 6 crew members it could conforibly engage 2 targets at once, the main targets infront of the tank with the 75mm gun and a smaller flanking target with the 37mm. it's like a mini mobile land battleship. and it wasn't a death trap either, it had at least 5 hatches on the tank for the crew to jump out of i mean sure it was riveted but the survival rate of this machine was far better than that of the t34 with it's cramped hull.

      Interestingly, Jingles has never once said it was a bad tank IRL, just in WOT. Check out is review of the Lee in WT. He even says the Lee may be overpowered in War Thunder

    • @antonrudenham3259
      @antonrudenham3259 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was an interim deign introduced solely while US tank production learned how to cast the Sherman turret. It was too big, 11' tall and that counted for a lot in the desert, because its only viable anti tank weapon was hull mounted it could not adopt true hull down positions and had to expose its upper hull and turret to enemy spotters. It was also riveted together and any strike from an HV round on the outside rivet head would shoot the inside rivet head off at the same velocity. It was very reliable and provided the Brits with a badly needed 75mm HE punch under armour but apart from that it sucked.

      And the tall turret with a large vulnerable side profile which the british changed and used "Grant" as the tanks model name to differentiate it from the Lee.

    • @antonrudenham3259
      @antonrudenham3259 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      We changed it because our policy was to have the radio kit in the turret with the TC and the Lee turret was too small for that. The British fitted the radio in the turret bustle of the Grant.

      +TheSpanishInquisition The grant had a flatter turret with a busstle this is probably a version of the lee built for the Canadian army. either way it's known as American because it is.

    • @leneanderthalien
      @leneanderthalien 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I find that the B1b was the best looking tank from 1939-40...B1B heawy tank maximum speed 28km/h (21km/h off road), german medium tank (they not had heawy tanks in 1939-40) panzer II and III max speed 40km/h (only 20km/h off road) so not so fast as you think...and range was similar : B1b=150km Panzer III: 170km...

    Had the French Command been smarter, we would've launched a counter attack straight to Germany while they were attacking Poland, it was so poorly defended that Berlin would've been ours. Especially with the B1.

  • @O8SOL3TE
    @O8SOL3TE 12 ปีที่แล้ว

    Makes me sick to know that we could've stopped the Germans early on before launching a counter attack that would've led our armies straight to Germany, war would've been over by 1941. Instead we hid like pussies while Poland was getting smashed, and when we finally decided it was time to whip the Germans' butts we rushed like crazy towards Belgium where we thought we'd be able to stop them.

    technicaly excellent tacticaly useless. It shows how an incorrect tactical or operational doctrineeffects real world combat. Just as the British doctrine of infantry and cruiser tanks and the American doctrine of tanks and tank destroyers
