There are few real personalities today. Mostly bland "news readers". Stations do not have a high enough bar for talent and mostly just put on "warm bodies". So, there's never been a better time to get into radio if you have little talent!

These are very valuable tips on how to break into the Radio or TV business as a broadcaster or part of a creative team. I am 71 years old and I had a 40 year career as an on-air DJ and TV personality and creating commercials for both in the Central Pennsylvania market -ranked 83rd top market (which isn't bad if you consider there are 50 states and just two markets per state totals 100 markets. I have done everything being explained here starting back at around 17 years old, actually, 15 years old as I was the high school newspaper sports editor and got some sports coverage and copywriting experience. Things haven't changed for wanna be's, in my opinion. Volunteer internships is worth more than money when you consider it may qualify you for a paying position in the near future, and you never know what influential people you will meet during your volunteer intership that may discover you! Go to your local Radio or TV station and volunteer to start at the bottom, fill the printer with ink and paper, whatever. And be around the pros, the equipment and see how it is done. You will make friends there and they will show you stuff. And don't forget about News and Public Relations, a copywriter, cameraperson. These skills could be obtained with your local pro or high school sports teams, local political campaigns, and more!!!

Those tips do not work here, they never have. We are talking arrogant, sorry ass pieces of crap.I have a degree been asking for years for just an interview sent off air checks. I don't think they get listened go either.

In Albuquerque, everyone with the ability to get you that first job is an asshole. I wished I was lying. I've never seen so many sorry ass people as they have in the radio business.

Do you need a fcc series 3 license to broadcast on radio like it used to be decades ago? Does broadcast magazine still exist? It was a place to go to read classified and send a demo tape ( yes, tape, reel to reel, I am "older" ) I went to announcer training studio's nyc in approx 1969. Thanks for the informative video!

Hey Corey, I'm a board operator who wants to be on air one day. I have a quick question..... How would you recommend networking when most people are working from home? It was a lot easier when the offices were filled with people.

How can I become a Radio Mix show DJ? (And get compensated for it). I have a lot of experience DJing, however I am having a hard time being able to receive compensation for it. I've been on the radio, been in clubs, worked with many up and coming artists, make edits, remixes etc. But I can't find a break through on landing a position within the radio. I've thought about purchasing all the stuff myself but if I do that how can I get the return on my investment? I'm like 90% sure I can completely get it up and running but being able to generate a livable income off of it, isn't something I know how to do.
