Cosplay Tutorial- Pigtails on a Non-Parted Wig

Update from 2023: I find this video insanely cringe nowadays but it's helped a lot of people, so I will continue to leave it up! Perhaps I'll remake it soon as a 30 year old with an HD camera, in my cosplay studio ...and not on my childhood bed. =_= Anyways, enjoy and I'm so sorry. haha..

If you don't want to buy an expensive ponytail parted wig, or sew wefts into the wig, here's an inexpensive and pretty simple way to style pigtails on a non-parted wig.
What you need:
-layered wig
-wig head/wig wearer's head
-elastics
-clip
-soft bristle/wig brush or comb
-got2b glued blasting freeze spray
Enjoy!

It isn't perfect but it's a LOT easier than the criss-cross method. My wig is far too long for the style I need for a Sal Fisher cosplay so I have extra hair to work with. Thanks!

I was just wondering how you'd go about styling a wig that already has pigtails so that they were higher up without any 'drooping'. I bought this gorgeous Harley Quinn wig and that's the only issue I have with it, that the pig tails aren't high enough.

This was actually really helpful! I modifying a wig for Harley Quinn and it didn't even occur to me that the netting would show on a cheap wig like the one I have (I'm used to better wigs since I also wear them on a daily basis since I have alopecia!) Thanks for the tips :D

How did you make it fit your head? Mine is too small and I don't know what to do :/
Do you have a lot of hair? Ensure that it's smoothed down in your wig cap. Many ebay wigs from china have smaller inner laces. If you put the wig on your head and then pull it into ponytails it should fit better.. Nowadays (many years after making this) I actually work for Arda Wigs Canada, and I would recommend just investing in a Chibi style pre-parted pigtail wig because you can get it in a larger size.

just a fyi you need to alter the name of this video, i had a very hard time finding you again. and I have a black on one side and red on the other like Harley Quinn except it's not in pigtails like the pic when i saw it. It is really hard to part it with out the black and red blending. So I'm going to layer it like you are showing and try to make pigtails, any tips?

same! it depends on how long and if it has a fringe/bangs DO NOT BE SCARED OF IT!

+claria gorgon oh my.... that's rather volumous isn't it? my guess is it ( pain stakingly ) do the instructions left in the video and... ( guessiiiiing ) wash ONLY the pigtails NOT THE HEAD brush carefully through the knots and wrap the still wet pigtails around something tubular ( like the thing that's left off a gift wrapping tube when the wrapping is gone ) leave the weird and wet contraption for at least 24 hours and the take out the tubes and brush through the pigtails I am in no way an expert sooooo... I'm really sorry if this goes wrong
