People are confused with sports “sparring / UFC” and reality. You wouldn’t put up your dukes if you saw Dr. Powell in the streets. Ask yourself how would you go get that man’s money and how close would you have to get. Sparring is for beginners and UFC is useless in the street when the rules change like weapons and the possibility of a second and third attacker. Don’t bring sparring gloves to a knife fight. Just some friendly advice. Tombo Kai Official 😊

Why is this not being taught today? I am a law enforcement officer and all i see today is BJJ. I am a Kali man and it serves me well but i love all traditional arts and this style Jujitsu is top notch ,and i have been aware of Sensei Powell for many years.

because it is totally ineffective in real life. These arm grabs and joint manipulations and body throws requires a willing participant who moves in slow motion and allows it to happen, actually helping it to happen. It's a con. Totally fake. It's Steven Segal combat. Fake fake fake.

YOU PEOPLE need to learn to say nothing as opposed to idiocy. This Brother trained The FBI, DEA & Secret Service, GENIUS. And some of those whom he trained, they trained the elite of armed forces of The United States, GENIUS........🤔 This isn't some art for the Octagon with a ref & tapping out, it's to kill as easy as it is to disable 😏🤔 GENIUS.

Seriously? I mean does anyone honestly believe that if you lightly touch a grown man that outweighs you with a light tap with your upper arm or a tiny flick of your wrist he'll drop down and fall backwards? This one step sparring can lead to a false sense of ow techniques work., especially if training against step through lock out punches takes up more than about 10% of your total training time. This is what bugged me about Shobushido Ryu Jujutsu a similar style mostly done and taught by black people with the late black grandmaster Soke Randy MIcheal Hutchens. We learned great techniques, executed them with varying degrees of compliance did no fitness, no sparring, no grappling, no weapons sparring and hoped that if it came down it and we got attacked with anything more dangerous than holds or a step through punch it would work. Mind you just like Sanuces just about all the black belts had blackbelts or close to it in other arts before starting this. But if you an make a 300lb man drop with a shoulder bump go in the UFC and use your winnings to buy a small city.

@@reggieanderson1109 I didn't say he was a joke, I was talking about the technique itself. I'm not going to fool myself into believing any and all techniques work simply because, I train in a particular art. That's one of the reasons why TMA's got such a bad reputation in the last 30yrs. Practitioners believing in nonsense that won't work against an attacker. There are some techniques that work and some that don't. 10:17 well it starts at 10:15-16, you'll get hurt trying that.
