I feel like you are missing the point of the question. What is the purpose of a Synthetic fund compared to a traditionel fund tracking the same index? The focus is always on the "how" but what is the "why"?

This would have been more helpful if you had provided an actual example. Such as owning $10,000 of an ETF at .9% expense ration that gained 1% for the day. How much profit gets taken by the expense ratio?

Research this: 1st an Expense ratio does NOT describe every single cost it takes to operate a fund. Typically cost for trading activities is not included. The expense percentage IS meant to convey a lot of typical operating costs like you would find in any business: office space, payroll, utilities, technology, marketing, legal, regulatory etc. 2nd Profit- in other words : the total return percentage reported on any mutual fund. That is a number that is NET OF EXPENSES. So if you see a fund that made say 10% total return, that 10% is after the expenses ( the expenses ratio plus trading costs) has been taken into account. Once again Research this. Just to be thorough. If you read a prospectus you might get this clarified.

Why isn't there transparency on the math with how much exactly you're getting charged? We're getting deducted from our earnings but my statements don't even show that, making me think my money is growing expense free. Is it just me or does this feel sly?!

Ah ok, So it's just the stock price will eat 1/12th of the expense ratio per month. or per quarter. I'm assuming it happens around the same time as dividend payout. In tsly's case its like 1 penny of value lost per month or 12 cents per year of the 12$ value. That's very small. Most of the loss will come from NAV if Tsla enters another nasty bear market

I am 76 years old and selling my home. With $450K proceeds I need to generate the most income from an ETF. Very confused when an ETF says yield is "40%." Does this mean that my $450K generates 40% or is it per share. Is there a resource you can recommend so I can determine how a yield percentage translates to yearly income.

Dividends from the stock market encouraged me to begin investing. What matters, in my opinion, is that if you invest and make additional money in addition to dividends, you will be able to live off of dividends without selling. It implies that you can provide that benefit for your children, giving them a head start in life. I've invested more than $600K in dividend stocks throughout the years; I'm currently buying more today and will continue to do so until the price falls even further.

I wholeheartedly concur, which is why I appreciate giving an investment coach the power of decision-making. Given their specialized expertise and education, as well as the fact that each and every one of their skills is centered on harnessing risk for its asymmetrical potential and controlling it as a buffer against certain unfavorable developments, it is practically impossible for them to underperform. I have made over 1.5 million dollars working with an investment coach for more than two years.

Agreed with others. Great explanation of the mechanism. There’s a lot of chat about a potential spot bitcoin etf to encourage institutional investors into the crypto market. But if the underlying asset (bitcoin) is not that liquid, it would be quite hard for this process to work. Eg if there’s strong volume demand for bitcoin etf which drives its price up relative to bitcoin spot price, the AP would be selling the etf in the market and buying bitcoin, but what if it simply cannot source the bitcoin. I’m guessing that’s one reason why the SEC is reluctant to sign off on this.
