The traveling call on Corchiani was a crime!!! The problem was no one wanted to see State and Duke in the reginal final. Referees should have been put in front of the mic like coaches and players. Hold them accountable.

You wont see a team like illinois ever again in college basketball.All these kids grew up playing against each other through high school battling for championships and awards ( minus one R.I.P. B.W. we can only imagine, so senseless) they came together in college and had such comraderie and trust in each other and it was so cool that the whole damn team was from the state of Illinois and not just all Chicago, you had Carbondale, jacksonville , Peoria and the greater Chi town area represented and that made this team just a little more special as an illini fan from illinois.1988-89 a cherished memory of being 19 and this team was like an parallel story running with one the best times carefree times of our lives. #13 highschool college or pro will always be my favorite player cold as ice smooth as silk .team for the ages in illinois

Easter Sunday i had to work at an upscale restaurant as we did an easter buffet , all the men were in the bar watching the game and it was loud and awesome , the greatest Easter ever!

LaBradford Smith with the fake behind the back slam! Always remember this happening when I was a teenager but never seen it again. Thanks to this upload Im able to relive an old memory. I went over my Buddy Brian and Richards house right after the game reenacting the fake and hit my head on his basement ceiling. Sucked we lost but will always remember that dunk.

Oklahoma was the better team, but classless showboating at the end. No need to dance and climb on to the backboard. They lost to Kansas in the Championship game and still haven't won a National Championship. Villanova got their revenge 28 years later in The Final Four and won it all in 2016.
