Mark Selby compiles the 100th 147 break to be made in professional tournament snooker during the 7th frame of his 2013 UK Championship semi final against Ricky Walden on 7th December 2013. Brilliant stuff.
It's back!
I’ve played guitar since I was about 13 and I’m 68 now always loved the BBC snooker theme tune learned myself to play it in the 80s and I’ve just played it on Facebook and got a great response thanks for this Doug Wood a brilliant piece of music
These still photographs of the 'Big Parade' episode are wonderful. th-cam.com/video/o2awUbS_Ahw/w-d-xo.htmlsi=6w0W2wQkTHndZohB
Not bad ⚡️
I just learned this riff after being inspired by the World champs! This theme tune has so many happy me more for me. Not just because of snooker but more the memory of family times gathering around to watch it. Cheers, Doug!
awesome train
Astonished after all these years to discover that the BBC Snooker theme was composed by an American. Thank you Doug Wood, just wish the BBC used your original version for their Snooker coverage now rather than the bland modernised shite version of this theme they use now.
Love the tune. It's aggressive and strumming which doesn't sound like it would fit snooker but it does! I think the cheerful melody and use of instruments balances it out.
Loved this. What a nice humble couple 👍🏴🇬🇧
We should get him over in Sheffield at the Worlds and have him open the tournament with this tune live!
Oh what a Gem !! Our Best and Most Loved Boys of the Home Brigade ! God Bless Them All, the Round Short and the Tall !
odd that the icehockey theme was written by a british man and the snooker theme was written by an american
Soundtrack of my childhood watching snooker with my grandad. We use it as a finger warm up in our band too. Thanks Doug.
I've just watched this on the BBC now. The airport story is so great.
strangely enough the music they use for drag racing was written by someone thinking about snooker
😂
Brilliant!!!
The great unanswered question is who at the BBC chose this and how did the BBC come across it in the first place? Ok, that’s two questions.
Can imagine John Peel giving it a spin back in the day
Nice!😄
Such loveable characters. The complete Dads Army DVD collection is my greatest treasure. After watching the final show I start again at the beginning!
Some appreciation, please, for the interviewer's comb-over.
Drag racer sounds like it could be kirwan and Green , Doug is that good ❤
I'm currently playing Pvt Frazer in the stage version of "Dads Army", it feels great to be able to keep these wonderful characters alive for future generations, the audiences are still laughing in all the same places and still loving it, we even got a round of applause last night for the "What is your name?.....Don't tell him pike" line 😂😂
One thing that always bugged me was seeing promo images for the Dad's Army movie in which Mainwaring is wearing the 1970s horn rimmed glasses that are clearly Arthur Lowe's own and not the little round wire framed glasses from the 1940s. Its a small thing but it catches my eye every time.
This is excellent and very interesting and informative
It's mad that that tune for snooker fans is a massive buzz .yet he probably doesn't even know that
Most feel good clip I've seen in weeks 🤗👍
There's no words to pay these justice
Beautiful story that, it really is. Gets me every time.
The original needs to be brought back to snooker its iconic
It seems so innocent compared to the daily horrors of this bloody modern age. How I yearn for them. 😪❤️
I love the tussle at the end. Arthur Lowe adjusting his glasses, no doubt the plan to turn round with them skewiff. 😂
I love these guys.
I was but 2mths old,. AC (After Conception lol) when this was filmed.
Here I would have been almost four and so Play School age. My interest in Dad's Army started when I was old enough to watch the programme. The Deadly Attachment is the best episode of the lot!
How much was he paid for it?
Thank you, UK L. As you may be aware, the greater majority of the cast were soldiers et al. during World Wars One and Two. Kudos. *Rest In Peace* - and All the Best. Rab 😎 🍻 🌠 🕊 👋
th-cam.com/video/1bnilpkuItw/w-d-xo.html Anyone can play guitar.
But please watch this first. It's worth it.😀
It’s a shame that James Beck wasn’t there.
2022,this is what’s its all about,great post.
Why can’t you buy it anywhere though
This comment is incorrect, it is available on 7" vinyl and on a compilation CD, however explaination of library music still stands. "Because it is library music. ie copyright is owned by a music-library label, and lent out to commercial enterprises in TV, radio, and film for a fee. Many music library companies distributed limited numbers on vinyl or tape to potential users but the music would not be given a general release for public listening."
@@UK_Lemons Many thanks for the explanation ole chum.
I know, it’s a great track, I’d buy it!
It was released as part of the "BBC Snooker Themes" EP, released on BBC Records in 1984 (RESL 144), and is credited to The Douglas Wood Group. This version, however, differs slightly from the original 1976 recording, as sounds of snooker balls have been added to the start of the track. For this reason, the copyright date is shown on the record as 1982. The original track, without those modifications, can be found as track 6 of the CD "The Great Sporting Experience", published by EMI in 1998 (CD GOAL 1). This is credited to Doug Wood Group, licensed from Studio G
Cheers sharky xx
Remember watching this in between a snooker match on bbc back then can’t believe it was 6 years ago fabulous.
Absolutely brilliant
They and the British Home Guard have been made immortal by our gratitude.
So neat to see these great thespians who were in their grand characters away from the set. A timeless show I've truly come to enjoy. Long live the past efforts of the Home Guard. From the States, Keith
Best intro song ever. I also loved ski Sunday aswell
Yes, Ski Sunday theme was great too.
The annual documentary played during the world championship
What a wonderful little story about this amazing tune and good to see it acknowledged by the BBC. Which leads us to discuss the elephant in the room. What is that absolute sh ite of a digitized version they're playing now in its place? The modern version is truly awful and hated by snooker fans. Get rid of it and bring back the original. As you see from this year's semi final line up... old school lasts longer.
Best tune ever
Really enjoyed Dad's Army. Great stuff !! 👍👍
The original cast made a Dad's Army film in the 70s. Very funny.
