How do trails look after record precipitation?
That's some mighty fine riding!
Any one know what bike he is riding here? I love that digital display!
What type of Bike did you ride this on and were you happy with it?
This looks like an awesome ride. Impressive to do it on a bike bike too
Can't say enough for Fab's ability to handle gnarly sections including "Erzberg" @ 2:12
Great video, epic adventure! If you were to do that same trip again, which bike would you choose between these three: the 890, 690, or 500 EXC-F?
i love my 890, no reason to choose anything else
@@TheBikewanderer thanks, good to know. I love my 890 also!
Played this on big screen and had the best ride there with you. But around 36:00 I finally panicked. Happy riding!
yup %100 true . Best practice is riding a trail that you never rode on 👍👍👍
Phenomenal video. Well done!
Excellent video and nice riding.
congrats! nice ride and scenery. enjoying ur videos - thank u for getting up so fast!!
My pleasure!
Yayyy!!
Great job, that was a rough ride even on a small bike. That rally suspension looks like it works really well in the rocks.
It does!
Hurry up I wanna see part 2! 😂
ha, on it ;)
It'll go live later in the morning!
I dont remember any single track in the eastern sections....however its been 20 years since i did it. Looks like maybe time to go ride it again.
Outstanding! Let the motorcycle do the talking. Sometimes less is more. Good choice!
Great video, glad to see someone is still riding nevada. You must be using GPS Kevin's tracks although some of that single trak in colorado was unfamiliar as was the Enduro loop in utah although we've ridden that a bunch in the single cylinder bikes.
I was using Kevins most of the time. I did occasionally switch over. The enduro loop is a hard optional on kevins' version from '23.
Gorgeous scenery, such a beautiful land!
As soon as I realize no commentary and no music!! 👍🏍🏍🏍🏍🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺😀
not everybody feels that way ;)
good stuff dude! What was your start date? we started on the 29th of June last year, still trying to finish my talking series :)
I started July 14th from NH :)
@@TheBikewanderer guessing ALL the mud was gone when you came thru?
@@MotoGiant well, i only got stuck once ;) i did take a spill in the NV though, claymudstuff
Great video
Incredible. I've been doing the Trans Euro Trail for a few years - I've just moved to America though, Pennsylvania. Looking at this makes me excited!
GPS Kevin has a New York to Oregon TAT that goes right through PA (Lehigh Valley area out to Harrisburg and dips south into MD around Gettysburg) that eventually joins to the offical TAT in North Carolina.
Great job Fab.. I enjoyed watching this edit. Looks like a great trip.
Thanks!
Excellent video and very informative! If you don't mind sharing a little information with a blanking novice on making a movie, what is your camera and your software that you use? I have made it on the third attempt from Atlanta to Cape Hatteras and to east Oklahoma near Tahlequah where I fell and broke my leg and decided I would try some BDR 's after that. I am now thinking of resuming the TAT out to Nevada and then up Idaho and back down Montana and Wyoming and home on my 990. I certainly want to take movies and maybe play with my drone some AND AVOID ALL THAT SINGLE TRACK :). Again, excellent video!
Most of the footage is taken with a regular old gopro. To cut it together i'm using davinci resolve. there are plenty of different programs out there, it's just the one i got most used to
Excellent video! Thank you for sharing!
Great video, really enjoyed this one! May I ask what map you used?
a mix between Kevin's and Sam's routes
Thanks for your inspiration!! Could you post a couple metrics -please. Manchester NH to Port Orford OR total miles & days Do you have a picture of your Map? GPX naybe to share? TAT is great, but i dont understand which maps to purchase, they dont show which are what.... those guys should make it simpler Thanks again, and I use camping and motels etc. as well.
6500 NH -> OR, 3200 back to NH it took me 24 days to get to the west coast and 5 to get back. search for TaT , you'll find the maps, either gpskevin or Sam's, (I used a mix of both)
I’m glad to see you turned around when you did I did it the year before and you turned around just before it got extremely gnarly. I did the whole thing all the way through and was shaking at points and I am a very good wood rider by the way I live in Maine, we should hook up and ride sometime!
Nice, I'll be at Dirtdaze guiding the MSG ride again :) Come down, join us!
When and where is that?
@@dirtsquirtertv6169 dirtdazerally.com/
The 2 strokes are amazing at lugging up the hills at low rpm without stalling out. That hill climb you did at 6:40 was going great. I think a little feather of the clutch would have benefited you and you probably could have made it. Maybe a down shift if you weren’t in first, but that’s me being an armchair quarterback. I obviously wasn’t there. Great video
interesting, everybody kept telling me that they are good at lugging up things, but I found that the 300 was stalling out more at low rpm than my 500 rr-s (what I'm used to).
@@TheBikewanderer I have the same feelings! not a 2 stroke rider so. I wen to the husq 24 test day trying the 500, 350 and 300 2t. 500 and even 350 were a lot easier on hillclimbs for me. not having to use the clutch at all. Maybe an adjustment that I need to learn
Where in Nv?Looks like a fun quiet place. Caliente perhaps?
part of the TaT, here: www.gaiagps.com/map/?loc=19.2128/-114.4711/38.6553&layer=GaiaTopoRasterFeet
you're right, the area is called caliente :)
Yep, welcome to GPS Kevins "routes". His motto seems to be "good luck, it might work."
Just like Sam's. Also ran into multiple dead ends on his.
What a fabulous experience. I have an important question. But did you crash into on a cactus? 🌵
haha, luckily I did not :)
Ditto to all the comments! (2009 TAT Ride)
Stoked! Perfect way to start the day. Dear Santa, I want a shiny new to me 990 for Christmas! Merry Christmas King!
Bikes always make for great xmas presents :)
Great video even without any commentary! But I have questions 🤔 Where did you start from? That first single track at 0:47 was very cool, and doable even on my GS. Approximately, where was that and do you remember if that was Kevin or Sam's route? Kevin's route definitely looks like the more adventurous one over Sam's. I see that you camped but I'm curious how much of that did you do? Congrats btw....great ride!!
i started from Manchester, NH, worked my way south via NEBDR/MABDR and then merged onto the TaT where it intersects with MABDR. That first single track was a little section in Pennsylvania, and yes I did a mix between Kevin and Sam's. I camped about a third of the overall nights, the rest i found cheap motels when i wanted a hot shower and soft bed:)
@@TheBikewanderer That was a fun video to watch, and a third camping sounds realistic. Did you ride back or ship it?
@@twobikesandadrone I rode back. took me about 4.5 days from Port Orford back to to NH.
@@TheBikewanderer that’s puttin in the miles right there!! Multiple opportunities to knock out a 1000 mile Iron Butt ride, but I wouldn’t even want to do that on my GS! Did a couple on my old GoldWing though!
@@twobikesandadrone true! I did refrain from doing that though :) many years ago, on my multistrada, it was more fun to do that. My longest day on the way home was only 850 miles.
Live in Central Ohio and can only get 10 days off of work. Which section(s) would you recommend? DRZ-400
I was thinking TN to AR but I'm looking for trail camping and as few humans along the route as possible.
towards the west there are much longer stretches between human encounters;) If you want to optimize for that, you'll probably want to avoid CO (lots of tourists) also lots of federal land with plenty of camping. So Nevada/Oregon would be the best in terms of avoiding humans. But if we add the needed travel time to get there, you're going to enjoy closer sections to you. Everything is doable on a drz.
@@TheBikewanderer Thank You! I put the DRZ on a bike carrier and drive close to where I plan to ride. I don't trust people im cars (ok anywhere) enough to ride on the highway too much. You're right though, CO would cost me 2 days in travel time. Doing this in May, so I have time to plan. Need to find a way back to my expedition too! One option is 3 days out turn around and come back.
What are you riding?
I was on '21 ktm 890 adventure r
@@lkjhgfdsa297 you are too kind. just ride within your comfort zone, especially when alone. The goal is to enjoy and have fun as long as possible. You'll improve over time just like i have. only 7 years ago I had never even been off pavement!
@@lkjhgfdsa297 i'm regular 6'1, and i'm far from an expert
Thank you for leaving out any narration. Perfect Video! So bloody tired of people rambling on just for sake of speaking.
It wasn’t easy
but fun;)
Thanks for putting this together. Gives my a good visual…and the confidence that the terrain is no worse than what we ride here in New England. Planning on a 2024 run at it. Looking forward to the narrated version. BTW, we met at the BBA this past spring, and again at TT. i was camping down the hill from you on a red beemer 800 at the BBA..
yay, you should absolutely do it!
You are a great rider. Very impressed. I'd have pulled over at the first rain drop. It didn't seem to phase you at all. haha.
you are too kind!
36:05 Nope. hehe
Don't know where you were riding but I completed this last year and didn't have any single track like you did around mark1:09
the single track came from the 'hard' sections on Kevin's route
I really enjoyed this thankyou - and I love how you make your videos with no narration - what an epic adventure that was with some epic tracks and scenery - nice one mate cheers :)
Thank you, this makes me feel less bad about not being talkative :)
Really enjoyed your video------- I thought kind of weird with no narration at first-------------but got used to it and the riding was just awesome and kept me fully entertained.. I've ridden most all of what you rode----but was a few years ago and I can't ride like that anymore. Your riding brought back so many memories. You had me on the edge of my chair many times. Thanks so much. BigDogAdventures
I'm glad I could help you relive great memories! I was wondering in quite a few places how the route might have changed over the years. There were a lot of roads that were quite freshly paved, so I assume in the years back, there were more unpaved miles to be had!
This definitely looks like Kevin’s route, not Sam’s. You did way more single track than I’ve seen on a TAT run.
Yes, mostly. I've had both and occasionally switched between them. Overall I probably did about 80% Kevin and 20% Sam. (not counting the many many miles where they are exactly overlapping)
Great video! Are there options to go around the single track?
Yes, plenty. All the single track options are optional 'hard' sections.
hey bikewanderer, nice video, Thank You. You travelled allone and with a KTM 790 ADV R?
Yes I was alone on my 890advR
Gran ruta y gran video compañero 👍👍
i am so impressed with your video, it takes a lot to make these videos. keep up the great work. riding is a whole different animal. you have inspired me. thank you. subbed
you are too kind!
I stand corrected.. TAT
yep :) or I guess 'New England + surrounding land mass ;) '
