is there still a good place to buy these new? Not having much luck searching so far.
Nobody knows for sure who actually made these. The theory is that they were made by the piano factories themselves. No, there is no one making them new.

But, do you need the key to also be able to lock it again? You appear to be pushing it closed off camera.
No, this "lock" is really just using the key as a lever to move the slide a short distance. This mock-up is really just to ascertain the necessary shape of the hole in the slide. Yes, I am pushing the slide back up, but in the actual locks there will be leaf springs to return the slides.
