How to store honey supers WITHOUT wax moth damage (No Freezer or Crystals!)
Say farewell to wax moth damage with this genius solution for storing honey supers and honeycomb without any damage by using Xentari BTa (Bacillus Thuringiensis aizawai) No need for freezers or moth crystals - just one easy ORGANIC application per year. Keep your honeycomb safe and subscribe to never miss out on beekeeping hacks!
🔥🔥WARNING🔥🔥: There is a LOT of old product out there. Before ordering any of this from any vendor, please call them to get the lot number and determine the production date of the Xentari. You can determine the production date of Xentari by doing the following:
1. (First 3 number of Lot number) - 249 = Months since January of 2015
2. Then find a date calculator and add "Months since January of 2015" number to 1/1/2015 and you will have your production date.
For example, if the Lot# is 332: 332 - 249 = 83. 83 months after 1/1/2015 means the production date is December of 2021. This was confirmed with the producer of the product. According to what I have read on Reddit forums this product IF stored at optimal conditions has a "Retest date" of 3 years after the production date... so that could be considered its expiration date of sorts. I have heard of people saying this product if stored properly is good for anywhere from 3 to 10 years.... so it is hard to say.

      Might want to do your research on that. What I read says otherwise, but ultimately it is up the the individual beekeeper and whether they are willing to risk their comb to find out. Might make for a good experiment. However I will say, just from an economical standpoint, 1 pound of powder for $26 is far less expensive than any other form I think you can find in the farm and garden. 1 Pound of dry BT will make more than 100 gallons for $26 and the powder is good for years... most BT you find in farm and garden is BTk (which is not certified for Wax moth) where as BTa is, and it is already premixed and you will pay between $10 and $20 for less than a gallon. And the shelf life is not years. But I would love to hear back about others that have used different strains of BT to see if it actually works.

      @BackBeeBrokenBeekeeping 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I put it in the description of the video, but reposting it here, I will also pin it to the first comment to make it easier to find. 🔥🔥WARNING🔥🔥: There is a LOT of old product out there. Before ordering any of this from any vendor, please call them to get the lot number and determine the production date of the Xentari. You can determine the production date of Xentari by doing the following: 1. (First 3 number of Lot number) - 249 = Months since January of 2015 2.

    As I watched you put the frame rests under the hive stand, I realized your stand is on a tabletop. I think it would be time consuming to get down on the ground and look for the rod under the hive to hang the frame rests on. Especially in a tall grass yard. It also would be just as hard to find them the next time I wanted to work the hive. If I had the stand, I would just put the two frame rests on top of the hive when I finished with them. Then, they are ready to go when you lift the hive lid. Much faster than bending down to look under the hive. If you are worried about them falling off the hive top, simply put them under the brick or stone almost every beekeeper has on the hive to weight the lid down.

    • @BackBeeBrokenBeekeeping
      @BackBeeBrokenBeekeeping หลายเดือนก่อน

      They aren't just under the stand they are securely attached to the spacer rod just below the hive. Very easy to locate, remove and replace. I should have made that more clear.

    Hey brother, loving the videos! One of my tips is to do inspections on a clear day between the hours of 10AM and 3PM so the bulk of the foragers are out of the hive. Less bees makes the inspections a bit easier. I love the handles you've shown here! Good stuff.

    Propolis is going to prevent the easy sliding of the frames, but I still like the set up and wouldn’t mind having one. Looks Cool !

      This is their number one question that was touched on in the video. The have frame guards that prevent the bees from being able to access the end bars of the frames. They also did an actual test where they didn't open a hive for 17 months to see if they would be able to manipulate the frame after that length of time. You can check that video out here and decide for yourself: th-cam.com/video/sql0FHr555A/w-d-xo.htmlsi=weGfNRAXSfp4i91z

    This works great. I will share my tip. Zip tie a QMP noodle from betterbee on the top and the entire swarm will gather on it and you can drop the entire swarm in the box. Use with DOCA Pole. Remove noodle before you put in the hive.

      This is an action called washboarding, while it is well documented in bees, it is not entirely understood why they do it. They have a few theories but nothing for sure.

    Umm, the first product… The feeder I use allows me to feed directly into the good nest. Purchased it 5 years ago, how can they legally state theirs is “the only feeder that allow direct feeding…” Second product is also a rip off of an existing product, except the one I use is made of metal not plastic. Lots of these “new innovative” products are just rip offs Not impressed with fraudulent claims

    • @BackBeeBrokenBeekeeping
      @BackBeeBrokenBeekeeping 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As to the justification for the statement you find issue with. You would have to ask the inventor. As to the second product, which I am assuming you are speaking about is the Pry Point System... Could you link the product because I tried searching for similar products and could not find any. While it's understandable that similarities between inventions can raise questions about originality, labeling something as a "rip off" oversimplifies the complexity of innovation and ignores several important factors. Firstly, innovation often builds upon existing ideas and technologies. Rarely does a completely novel concept emerge out of thin air. Many breakthroughs are the result of incremental improvements or adaptations to existing solutions. In this light, what may seem like a "rip off" could actually be an iteration or evolution of a previous idea. Secondly, the context in which an invention is created matters significantly. Different inventors may approach similar problems from different angles, drawing upon their unique perspectives, expertise, and available resources. Consequently, even if two inventions appear similar on the surface, the processes and insights behind them could be distinct. Thirdly, the timing of inventions can be crucial. Just because something similar already existed doesn't necessarily mean the inventor had knowledge of it. Parallel development is a common phenomenon in the world of innovation, where multiple individuals or teams independently come up with similar solutions to a problem. So while I understand you seeing the similarities as copying something already existing, this product has to be different enough to pass the scrutiny of the legality of creating a product that does not infringe upon an existing legally protected product.

    He did not create this. Hogg half comb.

      While they both produce comb honey, they are quite different in implementation.

    • @BackBeeBrokenBeekeeping
      @BackBeeBrokenBeekeeping 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      This comment got me interested in the history of this type of "pre-packaged" comb honey systems. And what I found out is Ross Rounds system was a comb honey-type production system created in the 70's, and officially patented in 1980 where as Hogg Half Comb didn't get its patent until 1984. Also an interesting difference I found out is that Ross rounds is a full section of honey, so literally a full section of honey with both sides having capped cells, where as half comb systems.... are only one side. Makes sense from the name, but definitely not something I even thought about previously. Also Hogg Half comb system disappeared from the market place after the death of the inventor for a bit but I believe a new company purchased the patent.
