Want the BEST Camera Experience? Watch Andycine X5 Review!
Reviewing the Andycine X5 camera field monitor after using for a while! For $189.00 I do not believe there is a better monitor in this price range that can compete with this monitor. Just being up front Andycine did send it to me to review and I do get to keep it. That however has no bearing about my thoughts and opinions. I would never recommend something for you that I do not like myself! They did not get to see the video before it is release. It isn't often I find gear that I like this well. The DJI Osmo Pocket 3 is a huge favorite of mine, this is also one of my favorites. It rarely comes off my camera these days! It is very useful for photography as well which is what I have 42 years of experience in and also use the monitor in the photography field as well not just video. So my review is almost geared more toward photographers than videographers. If you have any questions please leave a comment down below or feel free to email me.

Good advice. I'd like to add a few things. Rather than meeting them for a dinner or lunch, I recommend meeting them at your studio, or a coffee shop, or office, where it's a business type meetup. Take your contract with you. Your contract, whether you get it from PPA or make your own should include: When and where the wedding is going to happen, how many bridesmaids/groomsmen there are, ring bearer, flower girl, former spouses, number of people attending, etc. It should also include a place to write down any person who the bride or groom or family definitely wants photos of and who they don't want photos of. I've had a lot of weddings (I too shot weddings for 40+ years) where I had specific instructions to not shoot the ex in a group shot of family. So, you need to exclude a former husband or wife from the family photo and take them separately. In many cases, they don't want an ex in a current family wedding portrait with their son or daughter, they may want just their current spouse. If the bride and her bridesmaids are having their hair, etc., done you need to note that so you can show up there and get some photos, same as where the groom is getting ready. Often this will be many hours before the wedding occurs. You need to know where the reception will be. Sometimes it will occur where the wedding does, other times it may be miles away. I still use Shoot Proof and (even now shooting portraits, models, headshots, etc.) I shoot RAW and JPEG. I immediately cull the photos and then post low-res JPEGs on shoot proof. The ones they selected for their album, or depending on their order, strictly digital photos for their phone, etc. I finalized in Camera Raw and Photoshop, post them again on Shoot Proof and they can then download them. My wedding contracts also stated that they needed to feed me and up to two assistants, depending on the size of the wedding, If you have 15 bridesmaids and groomsmen, it's going to be a large wedding. My contract also stated that I was the head photographer, and called all the shots so that a videographer didn't get in my way. My contract also included, and I pointed this out clearly to the bride or mom who was booking me that I was not responsible for not photographing someone in the formal portion of the ceremony who had gone to get a smoke or was nowhere to be found. It takes up to 15 minutes to find someone who the bride insists be in a formal photo and if you have 3 people you need to look up that's 45 possible minutes you're using up on the formals. I've had a limo driver tap me on the shoulder many times and tell me I had about two more minutes and the wedding party was going to have to walk to their reception. Time is of the essence at a wedding. I'll stop here, but one final note. I always got a 50% retainer (in my state a deposit is refundable a retainer is not), and the remaining 50% had to be paid a week prior to the wedding. As Hanson Fong once said, "Get your money up front because after the wedding you're just another bill." And in addition to PPA insurance I'd get a good liability policy, PPA really doesn't cover much of that. I know you're giving advice to beginning wedding photogs (good advice mind you) and I apologize for the long post, but sometimes it's good to know what you're getting into--it's far different than a headshot.

Good info there! We also give a shot list out it comes with our contract I forgot to mention that! You are very correct to mention find out about x spouses, we learned that the hard way many many years ago, lol.. Our last 15 years we got paid in full no less than 30 days prior. It just has to be done that way, too many issues if not. Thanks for the great info, hope you're doing well!

Hi Daniel, nice video. Have you found a decent modifier to get the benefit of using 2x AD200s with the AD-B2? I haven't found anything with the AD-B2 that gives me as much power as a single AD200 Pro with the AD-S2 reflector. I tried the AD-B2 with a standard 7" reflector and it was way less powerful than one flash with the AD-S2.

    • @danielmartinphotography

Great video. The Godox V1 has horrible color. It leans blue and magenta as all Godox flashes do. The Westcott is a little blue but clean. I’m sorry man, but I’d rather have clean color than perfect TTL. I’m in the business of making my talent look great, and every Godox flash is awful color-wise. I used to have Godox studio and camera flashes but got fed up with the bad color. I bought a Westcott FJ400 and it changed my life. Beautiful clean perfect skin tones. And the color only varies 100 degrees Kelvin between full and minimum power. No green or magenta shift. I’m planning on getting the FJ80 SE to compliment. Godox like Sony has grown because of their ecosystem, but there are compromises. I was a Nikon shooter till switching to Sony six years ago because of the tech. I always hated Sony colors, and I switched to Nikon Z in the past few months. Finally gorgeous color. The only thing holding my images back were the Godox lights. I think Godox Xenon gas formula is muddy, and renders spikes in the color spectrum. Even when you try to neutralize the color with a grey card, there is still something off. Cheers.

It sounds like you got a defective lens mount. The one I got for my sony E mount clicks right into place and works perfectly. I asked for this lens for Christmas as my $100 max secret santa gift with my in laws family. Ideally I would have liked to get the Meike 85 1.8 auto-focus for $100 more but $100 limit is $100 limit. I have been VERY pleasantly surprised. I tried it out this week and the image results look stunning for the price. It was also way easier to focus than I originally thought it would be. My camera body (A6300) still assists in highlighting/outlining what's in focus, so not particularly difficult to focus at all. I think you're selling this lens far too short. If you're not a professional who wants to spend 5-600 or more on an 85mm prime, then this lens is most definitely worth purchasing. Just my opinion. The bokeh is buttery even on my crop sensor camera I'm getting very smooth and nice blur. There's a reason that reviews on amazon are so high. The only low ones are mainly people who assumed that this was an autofocus lens and to that I would say it's not hard to read an item description when purchasing a product.

As far as I know, for mounting the cage you first have to unsrew the 2 top locks as you did. But after fixing the cage with the bottom screw to the camera, you remount both of the top locks. So the cam is fixed with 3 points. If you put the locks in the plastic you loose a lot of security for your cam. Or am I wrong? At least on videos about the same cage on the Lumix Sii it is always explained this way...

I'd give anything to have a modern camera with all the conveniences and autofocus they have using the look of these sensors. Now you have these modern stacked mirrorless sensors that look cartoony, like you're taking a still grab from a video buffer but it's 14 bit so you can shape it and make it look halfway decent. These things were killing it straight out of the camera

The 6D was my first full frame DSLR, and it felt like coming home. A few weeks ago I added a 6D Mk. 2 to my camera bag, and I am delighted that Canon ironed out exactly every shortcoming of the 6D - and nothing more. For those who are not familiar with the 6D, two things you may not know: You can exchange the matte screens on your own, and Canon offers one matte screen which helps at manual focussing. So the EOS 6D is great for adapting all kinds of lenses, from M42 screw mount to Leica R. And the battery grip Daniel is showing in his video has a disadvantage: If you mount the camera to a tripod, the tripod screw at the bottom of the grip isn't stable enough, because the grip basically is an empty plastic box which is prone to flexing. This is no problem when shooting out of your hand, but if you want the camera to be rock solid on a tripod, leave away the grip.

Thank you for your video, Daniel! I use Godox X Pro II N triggers on my Nikon Z9 and Z8 to trigger our AD400Pro's. I cured the banding issue by downloading firmware 1.7 and setting the Z9 to Flash Sync speed of 200. Using the Nikon 200s or 250s settings caused banding. Then, we had misfires. It took two shutter actuations to get the flashes to fire. I changed the Shoot Setting from L-858 to Single User. I thjough I addressed the misfires. Then, I tried only a V1 and the firefires were back, every second shot. Batteries are fully charged on all units. I thought going to the Legacy Hotshoe (ON) might eliminate my misfires. No, it seemed to only adress my WB. I also have not totally ruled out the the Nikon Z9 10-second self-timer may be introducing some of mu challenges. What do I need to do to have my strobes and V1 fire on every shutter release? I never had these issues when I used Profoto gear in the past. I sold our three B1's and A1 to switch to Godox. Have I made a huge mistake? Thank you. John

As a new G9ii owner i just had to shoot some 100MP photos. They are amazing! It is just another one of many features. I decided on the G9ii over the S5iix because of lense size. As a back yard birder, the relatively small 100-400mm (200-800mm FF equivalent) lense hits the sweet spot.

As a G9ii owner and I have the 12-60mm (24-120mm) and the 100-400mm (200-800mm) lenses. The kit is lightweight, cost-effective, and much smaller than FF equivalent. I often shoot 800mm with 1/1000 shutter, f6.3 and ISO 3200 for golden hour wildlife photos. It is quite performant.

@danielmartinphotography I really like the 100-400mm (f4-f6.3) and the OIS coupled with the G9ii IBIS, provides Dual IS that allows me to point and shoot...no tripod required even at 400mm (800mm FF equivalent). The AF Animal/Body/Eye is quite accurate.

This does look like a very nice offering. Looking at other (shopping site) reviews, it seems to be getting some high praise. @4.50, I think you said ''view yourself in 4K''? If through this monitor, I think it's a crisp 1080p, which should be plenty? I realise a quick unboxing and the full review will follow.
