Hi people nice video, greetings from Costa Rica!

When I was a young engineer, I was working on an electric utility substation. As is and was common there were two138kV/13.8kV transformers feeding identical switchgear. The gear had anything from 8 to 12 individual; feeders. The normal feeders on one of the subs were the even numbered (2, 4, etc), and the odd feeders were backups for the other sub. On the other sub, the even were back ups and the odd were the normal. I was working with a team installing a new breaker on one of the subs, and I don't recall if it was a normal or a backup. Its twin on the other sub had already been installed and the wiring was complete. I am pretty anal about being certain the two identical feeders be physically wired the same way. To ensure this I went to the other sub to verify the wire routing. Idiot that I was, I opened the door and started to walk in so I could trace the wiring. I had taken my first step, when I realized that the circuit breaker was not in the cubicle and there was bare, uninsulated 13.8 kV energized bus directly in front of me. Time has changed the memory but it seemed like I was only inches from the bus. (Probably was farther but it seems that way 5 decades later. Fortunately, I saw it in time to reverse course, back out, and close the door. I sat down on the concrete pad and started to shake. A few minutes later one of the relay testers that I was working with missed me and came to check on me. When I told him what had happened, the first thing he did was take a rather significant chunk our of my hind quarters. Then, seeing how badly I was shaking he sent me home for the rest of the day. So that is my near miss story. Yes, it stays with you. This happened about 1970. John Cadick

Thanks for uploading - this video is very interesting @10:45 you say that the reason we are checking responses of the first 3 harmonics is that there are 3 forces occurring per tooth pass? Why are you attributing each pulse to a different harmonic response? The sliding in, rolling and sliding out pulses each occur the same number of times per cycle so their excitation frequency is the same. If we extend the analysis range to 4.25xGMF, we would see another characteristic response at 4xGMF, by your logic this is caused by a 4th pulse phenomenon? Is this the first ever engineering fake news or am I misunderstanding? :D Please may you clear up on this point, thanks very much

My fiancé is suffering these exact things. Dr’s not believing and people laughing him off. Shocked because of employee mistake causing a ground fault last November and his abilities have dropped drastically. He reported it but the employer made him sit in the sun awaiting a taxi and he had to walk home from workmed. He’s trying to find a lawyer who will actually listen to him. I’m super worried about him because he’s very depressed and not confident he can succeed with another job if he tries to find work elsewhere. He has PTSD and feels like his life is pretty much ruined. This is in Utah, USA. Do you know where he can get help?

In regard to the untraceable trend problems caused by variation in load, RPM, and even oil temperature, data-driven method like machine learning could be a real crucial helpful tool.

Question about the 8:20 segment. Is the Final 'Live' check (following the 'dead' check) in the "Live, Live, Dead, Live" procedure specifically documented in NFPA 70E or is it an 'above and beyond' thing?

I've seen bearing failure in "real time" which caused the shaft to abruptly stop at 4000 rpm during run-down. The so called "haystack" on the spectrum became very prominent prior to failure. We were relying only on spectrum magnitudes and no enveloping was being done. Another time when I saw an ISB failure, a few days prior to the event, the high rotor vibration dropped abruptly and the low rotor vibration spiked suddenly on the strip chart at the same instant.

While a fluke multimeter meeting the correct UL1244 standard might be useful with the right proving unit. Proving the absence of voltage is much better performed with a dedicated voltmeter tested to the appropriate UL standard which fluke also do that way human error can be further minimized if for example the multimeter was on another setting other than voltage.
