Here I’ll show the process I follow to take these carburetors apart. They are off a 81 cb900 but many Hondas from the 80s use these Keihin carbs. Finished a whole day of shift work and took these apart 2-3am so enjoy my delulu narration. Winners make it happen Losers let it happen 🕛 🪔 🔥 🕒 Can’t wait to fire this bike up!!

Honda CB400N Carburetor Rebuild and Clean Instruction Video
มุมมอง 11K2 ปีที่แล้ว
Most Hondas from the early 80s used these style of Keihin Carburetors. This is from a CB400N, very compatable with CB250N. The logic of parts will work for other Hondas of this era also. Ultrasonic Cleaning etc done. As i did a straight through exhaust after a total engine rebuild I ended up jetting it stock pilot with 2.5 turns out on fuel screw, 92 secondary and 113 main. up from 78/108 stock...

Unwatchable
What is the little brass stem that sticks out the base into the bowl. Its behind the float to the left when you are installing everything at the end. Mine snapped off by the tiny holes near the base.
The offspring int the back goes hard
Have you figured out how to switch from high beam to low beam on your gr650? for some reason there is no switch.
Up en down light switch
Hey man I just got a 1982 Honda cm250 I had a carburetor kit last year I didn't really do as extensive carburetor cleaning as you did last year I bought the bike from my friend 2 weeks ago been driving it around after jumping the battery and all of a sudden it revved up real high like it sounded like it was going to run out of gas like how it usually does if I run out of gas and then I put more gas in it I don't think I was out of gas but it started up ran about for 45 seconds and then now it won't stay running anymore so I checked the fuel filter and flow fuel filter has all kinds of black Gunk floating around everywhere and I just replaced that last year too so now I've taken off the carburetor I'm in the process of rebuilding it again I do have a question on the side where your choke is and your throttle cables there is a hole looks like it might have threads in it it goes to the side of the carburetor inside of it like if I squirt carburetor cleaner through it it comes out from to the inside of it what is that for mine has been broke off halfway so I'm not exactly sure what it is
Sorry commented to early.
I'd rather pull the carb out give it a good clean while it is out.
Nice video Sir, I have some doubts about that carburator, where can I contact you?
BTW, I think I’ve watched your vid at least 15 times getting ready. Thanks for putting your knowledge out there for all to absorb.
Just starting a carb rebuild on my ‘77 KZ 1000 A1. Quick question, I was planning on using ultrasonic cleaner on the jets once I get them off and out. Thoughts on if I need to engage your method of a guitar string. Thanks mate.
Where is my Carb kit for the XJ650 ?
Is this similar to the cb 400t carbs?
Would you rebuild my xj carb if I was to send it to you
Apologies for the delay! Yes of course. I live in Geelong Vic take mail ins all the time.
What soap or solvent did you use in your ultrasonic cleaner? Those two black rubber tubes on the carb - are they vacuum lines? I just ordered some new vacuum line and fuel hose for my '83 GR650. Black for fuel and Blue for vacuum. When everything is black who knows what is what except the fuel line is 2 mm bigger. And what "lube" did you spray on the diaphragms? Was it a silicone spray or some other type spray?
Hi mate. I use about 15% #evaporust along with truck wash and concentrated degreaser at lower volumes. No change in alloy color, no damage to rubber, clears off all rust and converts it. Great start for cleaning. Vapor blasting is the only logical next step
I had to refresh my memory about vapor blasting so I checked out some TH-cam videos. When they talk about vapor blasting, they're talking about blasting soda dissolved in water to the saturation point. The problem with that is that the carburetor must be COMPLETELY disassembled. If anything like shafts are still in the carb then it will collect the blasting soda and pack it in. I haven't taken the carbs off to see their condition but I'll probably try using the ultrasonic cleaner first before turning this project into an all Summer affair. I'll have to check out the EvapoRust you suggested, too. That sounds like a good idea.
Now thats a nice bike.
A motorcycle "mechanic" doesn't know how to pronounce "Keihin" (Keehin). Sheesh....
Never to ashamed to learn! So it’s Keehin? Like Keenan but with a H?
the perfect moto, for grown-ups. or grown-olds, if you insist
Sieht sehr schön aus wie neu.
So what is the specific measurement of the float height? Pretty important information.
legend, thank you man
Aweomse channel!
Is it for sale?
Sorry mate it has been sold. Fun build I broke even at $8k AUD paid $5k for donor bike $3k in parts. Not factoring labor it was a lesson learned in German engineering.
amazing! thank you!
Thanks mate. I’ll keep making them I forget ppl still watch them
@@revivemotorcycles Thank you! I've got fuel leaking on mine and your video is going to help me a lot if I'm gonna tear them down. Meanwhile I'm going to try to fix the fuel tap, where I think the main issue is. If the tap was functioning properly, the fuel flow should cease when the engine is turned off. Anyway... thanks again for sharing your knowledge, highly appreciated !!!
@@giacoboh yes that’s correct if it requires a vacuum line hooked up it shouldn’t let fuel into carbs unless engine is running or it’s set to PRIME (PRI) which bypasses the vacuum. Pesky things they can leak fuel into the vacuum too I try and just use gravity petcocks when possible.
So you just eye ball the float height?
Nice work, just about to start a set of 28mm Z1 carbs
Thanks for the support Gary and good luck, If ya get stuck let me know
Hi, they are not Smoothbores, Smoothbores have a large access nut @ the bottom to change the jets, without stripping the carburettor bowls, Good job though!
Great Video, I have CB400N which i am turning into cafe racer, with straight through pipes and cone filters instead of airbox, what do i need to upgrade on my carbs, any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Hi mate. You will need bigger jets for pilot and for main. I don’t know if I reference mine but say stock is 26 pilot and 145 main you will want 30 pilot and 155 main. Go up 4-6 sizes in oikor and 10 or so on main. If you can keep stock airbox please do the bikes run so much better if you can’t please buy slide carbs from mikuni Oz, they will sell carbs and jet kit for your bike. If you must keep stock carbs and need pod filters get UNI pod filters the foam ones. The pleated ones are shit for vacuum but if your heart wants pleated ones buy K&N or DNA (easier to get to AU DNA). High quality. Stock airbox for the win unless you buy new slide carbs cause it won’t draw vacuum properly. It’s been done. But it’s never easy or fun
@@revivemotorcycles will i get away with 92 secondary 113 Main and UNI Foam pods on stock carbs? sorry, bit of a newby on cards ( i have ordered the book you mentioned :-))
Me and my brother are working on his gr 650. For some reason he was riding it and it just all of the sudden bogged down and won’t start. Hoping a jet is clogged or something.
Might be a stuck valve. Generally carbs don’t clog immediatley but with no fuel filter on anything can happen keep me updated!
I have similar. Goes better with 117,5 main jets and rubber tube removed out from air intake box. Needle clips are at 4.5 and pilots out 3 turns. Better. Maybe not so economical, but it's hard piece of iron.
Great rebuild skills 💪💪💪
nice explanation of things as you move through the rebuild. Thanks
Do you by any chance know where I could get the throttle flaps ? Or what other models use the same ones? Recently bought one and the guy that took it apart unfortunately lost some of the parts so I’m trying to piece back together.
I have a set of carbs for the 250 not sure If diameter is same probably not can you measure your intake ID
Ebay
In my new rebuild kit needles are longer than originals - can I use ithem? Thx!
How much longer? Depends on the taper but prob not
If it’s Less than 1mm go for it. What kind of rebuild kit is it? The brand? I’ve noticed you can’t shim these needles either
what is for sale? The video? Missing the most logical piece of info: $_________?
Same carbs on the CM400T, good video, good song.
Hahah thanks mate! My first one. Should I do more?
nice
Nice bro
May i know the price?
Looks like a nice clean carb. Always good to give them a once over
