Flt. 70. 10/1968! We were called WAFS. Airmen Basics (slick sleeve) until graduation on one day, sewed one stripe on all our uniforms that night and shipped out for tech schools at 0600 hrs the next morning! We could then proudly call ourselves Airmen. 54 years ago and yet sometimes I can still smell the scent of wax on the floors and hear the cadence we sang wherever we went! Proud to have served in the United States Air Force! 🇺🇸🗽
Sergeant Kalmes, sir, you are the finest MTI that our Air Force has in this point in history. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for training myself and so many others to be the best airmen that we could possibly be. READY!! FOR!! BATTLE!!!!!
This is real cool to see in person. My daughter just graduated from BMT last week and on the way to the Airman’s run, there was a squadron singing jodies . It is something I will never forget seeing.
Aww wow memories..Tsgt Alexander had us singing: Mama Mama can't you see? What the Air Force done to me. They took away our Cadillac, now we got one strapped on our back. Lol..So long ago..2003.
Very nice. Mine was, Mama Mama can’t you see…what the Air Fore did to me….took away my only man…,now I sleep with Uncle Sam. I will never forget Tsgt Hooper or Sgt English. 1983.
I lost count on how many of the girls in this flight were looking down at the feet of the airmen in front of them. If my MTI caught any of my Flight doing that we’d be doing MTI tools in our blues. Congratulations on graduating. Dont know how you did it 🤦🏻♂️
Sure Donna! Back in the days of old when men were drafted Jody was your best friend who spiked his physical with the draft board doctor. So. . . while you were in basic he (jody your former best friend) was back at home working your job driving your car eating the food in your fridge and pleasing your woman at night in your bed. Jody was pardon my french a real !@#$%^&* S.O.B bastard so to honor him we call our cadences jodies. today in 2020 I suppose it could still be true where Jodie is a girl or guy. thirty three years later I still hear myself sing this cadence (jody) about our flight being the best in BMT. . .
Jodies are for when you're running/double time, cadence is for when you're marching/quicktime. It's supposed to boost morale and get you through hard times especially when you have to march or run a lot.
3703 was probably the worst motto stating "it starts here " the First thing that came to my mind was (the BS) " starts here " I don't think that's the attitude the Air Force intended. 😁
Don’t remember my class # but went July/August 1984 year of the red flags! The best 23 years of my life were with the USAF!
Fly bye salute...

1974 for me. Loved marching and singing. Brings back memories. Proud to have served.
Females in the military are always cute to see but total liabilities on the front line. Cheers, a former tacp airmen.
Flight 156 in the summer of 1979 was mine
This 'rainbow " joined December 1979. I don't remember my flight number (W142?), but the names of the TIs are forever etched in my memory.

Is it cadets?
In AF BMT it’s “trainees.” After graduation and going into tech school-it’s “airmen.”
What’s the name of the Jody that says pick up your boots and follow me
