Wonderful collection of photos, thanks so much. Couple of date problems though, the Pioneer column travelled through to Mashonaland in 1890. Matabele land was only added 3 years later, so the Bulawayo photos labelled 1890 are incorrectly dated.

That looks more like 60 years ago now. I'm 61 yo was born there but left w/ parents at 4 yo. Is that the hospital? If so, I wonder what the name of it is - wonder if I was born in that hospital? In 1961-1962, my dad, a nz'er, heard two men on telephone conversation talking that the govt had lots of communists trying to take over and that we should leave before the trouble comes and left to US. My mother had dozens of relatives there that stayed for a long time. I wouldn't have wanted to grow up there sadly but it was very clean and civilized, beautiful parks at that time.

Interesting - many of these photos are mine and certainly used without any permission from me. Some actually are relatives who have never even been to Rhodesia. I wonder how access to my personal photos was obtained?Yes they are stored on the cloud but not shared. Some I have posted yes but not the personal family ones. It’s a nice memory but I think the author could have at least asked.

Rhodesia was great, high living standards, competing services etc etc. Zimbabwe a disaster, the worst example on earth. Most comments are on this basis... so guys, what are you waiting for? Bring back all the whites, give them all the power back, let them run the country! As easy as that!
