My name is Lucian and I come from Europe. I felt too restricted there and was looking for a new adventure. I love watching 4 seasons. This was no longer the case in Europe. I gathered my savings and immigrated to Canada hoping to find the adventure I was looking for. I enjoy being outside in nature. Well I decided to build a 12x16 log cabin. I also wanted to start a competition with myself to see if I could do it.
I heard the call of the Canadian wilderness and followed it. I landed in Nova Scotia and want my dream from the wilderness of Canada on 60 acres. Without any experience in building and filming, i would like to take you on a journey to accompany me on the projects.

So what's with this releasing episodes not in chronological order? I almost feel like I should wait until you've finished the cabin, and then watch the videos from start to finish. I've built a few cabins in my time, and I find it a bit odd that you're not doing any kind of notching to hold the corners together. In my forty plus years of experience as a carpenter, woodscrews have no sheering strength. It'll be interesting to see if it all holds together once the roof is on, and a few years have passed as the logs shrink and settle, that some of the screws don't start snapping. Cheers. 👋🇨🇦
@@andyfunke9484 Yes, thanks, the problem is my channel is new and the TH-cam algorithm doesn't push all my videos like it should. Episode 1 only had 300 views after the re-upload over 4000. That's why I have to repost the videos with weak views. As for your question about the screws. These are hybrid screws (spike and screw). The screw goes into the lowest log and the log above can still slip. It slides like the spikes so it doesn't splinter. Many people use spikes and then the logs can split when they dry. It will be an air bnb to rent, not a permanent living cabin. I think when the roof is installed everything will be more stable.

What type of wood is this? Don't you have to treat the logs with glaze or something similar to protect the wood from moisture and rot? You inspire me to build a cabin, but for the animals.
@@dirtyday6501 I use white spruce after it has dried in the sun for 3 months. In the spring I will treat the wood against moisture and dampness. Now it is time to stop for that.

Logs are quite uncooperative sometimes! 😂 Your snow is gone. Sad. We have not had one drop of rain here. We had a little 20 minute shower about two months ago, but nothing since last May. We need it desperately. Luckily Northern California is getting lots, which will keep our supply of water coming. But boy, do we need rain. The Eagle is huge! Loved seeing him.

This is my 1st video of yours and I want to inquire if most of your videos are going to be mostly music and no talking? I know that you can't please everyone, but I am more of a hands on type of person that wants to hear why you are doing this or that, etc., versus listening to music and watching you work.

That was one of the reasons why I left Europe. The WEATHER. Do you mean the length of the cabin? It is 4.8m x3.6m.
@ in the video, I think it was after you show the dogs, there was a long log structure. Like really long…is it a fence? It seems quite tall.
@@karend8575 Yes, that's a fence made of thin logs about 1.8m high for Nori and Kovittli. Ivy and Ninotschka live where the Westies are romping around in episode 7

I know from personal experience that a rat can dig straight down more than a foot and I am sure other animals can do even better. You might want to cover the entire floor with mesh before layering it with gravel?
Most lay mesh under the floor directly because they insulate with glass wool. I wanted to use padded aluminum foil for the insulation.

@@karend8575 Yes, Kovittli is from the first litter and Nori and Ninotschka from the second litter. I ended the breeding with that. It snowed here today, you will see it in the next episode.

@@elizabethogrady5893 I have 4 Caucasian Ovtcharka dogs. I was a very famous breeder of this breed in Switzerland from 2012 - 2022. I have exhibited them and won many champion titles. I have exhibited them in 25 European countries. I had 9 Caucasian dogs, many of which died because they did not live longer than 9 years. I emigrated across the ocean to Nova Scotia with two of these giant babies. Here Ivy had a litter of 8 puppies. Ninotschka and Nori are the two females that I kept for protection on the property against coyotes etc. They live outside all year round, they just need to be protected from wind and rain and have a covered place to retreat to. There is also Kovittli (because he was born in the Covid year) his name is translated as little Covid, he now weighs 85 kg.🤣
