Hey hey - great news on the 2nd hand R50 (I love a good bargain!). The new SIGMA 18-50mm is a good lens but I suspect you may want a little more reach to punch in a bit closer - similar focal range to the kit lens but faster at a constant ƒ2.8. Maybe look at 85mm or 100mm focal range is good for macro and the camera can sit overhead. Thanks for watching - I really appreciate it and good luck with your TH-cam journey

@@cre8r61 Thanks mate, handy to know zoom lenses can suffer from this when shooting overhead.have seen a few now that do this. I’m a bit lost as what to get. Do you think I should looking at a prime lens in the EF- S range with an adapter. I’ve been watching videos all day and still none the wiser lol. Very new to mirror less (I’ve been filming on iPhone 15 pro) and also restricted by budget a bit.

You maybe able to save some settings in the custom menu (green menu with star) I rarely use these menus - maybe I need to investigate these further. I love the APSC camera and working on a video for the Sigma 18-50mm coming in a few weeks. It’s a great lens to consider for the RF mount. Even the TTArtisan 10mm manual lens would be brilliant for the Milky Way This lens is too good not to own th-cam.com/video/T2jbr0rQ1uk/w-d-xo.html

@@julilopez hi and thanks for watching. Have a look at a fast lens. I’m currently testing the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 great focal range and faster than the kit lens. There is a noise reduction setting in the menu too from memory. Hope this info helps. Lightroom/photoshop have noise reduction features. I used the R50 with the kit lens for Astro shooting the Milky Way on a trip to Central Australia. There are picture profile settings for sharpness you can set. This may help. Don’t let imperfections hold you back - go for it regardless. I think the m50 mkii had the recording limit removed for camming. M50 for the win if purchased 2nd hand and pick up the sigma 16mm m mount lens, but the R50 for newer tech and adding the sigma 18-50mm. Thanks for watching as I really appreciate it

Ah yes PAL/NTSC. I wondered that too when I first got the camera that 1/2 the video modes were not available. I think it was by chance I tried NTSC and away we go with all the additional modes. Thanks for watching as I really appreciate it. Cheers 😀

Hi there and thanks for watching. I’m not aware of any monitor that can do this with the R50. The only option for the touch screen operating the camera that I know of is ow of is your smartphone. I bought the Feelworld F5 Pro touch screen thinking I would have this function but it only allows for controlling the monitor functions. I also use the cheaper Neewer F100 7in monitor in my studio environment

@@cre8r61 Thanks so much. I see, so the field monitors mentioned don't seem to mirror the r50 screen together with it's touch features such as focus. That's a shame. I've tried to use my smartphone using USB Camera app on Android and even that doesn't give the focus tap option. Pinching the smartphone image seems to enlarge the smartphone image only but not reflect on the r50. I do wish there was a solution. In short I guess we would all benefit from a larger r50 touch screen that is brighter for daytime use outdoors in the field. For now I'm wearing magnifying reading glasses to operate to give a slightly better view of the r50 which isn't ideal.

@@diaxpora Remembering this is an entry level camera (or classed as such) and power zoom isn't a feature. It still a great camera with some shortcomings. I wish when an HDMI cable was attached you could still use the R50 screen as a touch screen but we make do with what we have and create great imagery with the lenses and camera capabilities. The R50 works great in low light. Grab some fast glass and you're away. Currently playing with the Sigma 18-50mm ƒ2 lens and loving it. Interesting to be looking at the Sony 6400 (again a good camera) released back in 2015 with older tech. The R50 has more features and weighs less and has access to amazing EF and cheaper EF-S glass with adapter. I also have the G7X MK ii and love this camera for photography and made a video making this a little beast for light trails and timelapse (video here th-cam.com/video/V7znL01_H9A/w-d-xo.html) There's no perfect camera - Thanks for watching and saying hi

I'm guessing this might have to do with the M50 implementation of 4k video and contrast based focusing. Remember the M50 is not supported but I was able to make this work. Good luck with your TH-cam journey

@@cre8r61 so I was actually able to get it to work in 4K. I had to go into the tracking menu within the tiny screen on my Zhiyun Crane 2S gimbal and switch the tracking mode to 70 mm as opposed to 16 mm, and then the smart follow mode seems to work well in 4K. I still can’t get it to work when I am filming vertically with the camera rotated to the vertical positioning within the gimbal but at least now I can track in 4K and then crop it to vertical at UHD resolution.

For the most flat colors you can install Cinestyle, its actually a picture style which is almost as flat as log BUT you can't use it with HDRPQ because it's already 10 bit

Thanks for watching. It’s actually a tough call - I’ve just picked up the ZV-E10 and I actually quite like it. Menus and settings seem easier on the R50. I have a few videos in the works comparing the same lens on these cameras. This TH-cam thing is fun 🤩

Good choice! Thanks for the sub 😀. As I own the R50 it has better features for my requirements - smaller, less weight and can do 120fps slow mo (HD) and released about 12 months later than the R10. There's not much in it but for me the R50 wins + you can grow into the additional features of the R50. I like the FOTGA VND filters I have been using to date and currently have the Fotga Slim Wide Band Fader ND 67mm on this lens (this VND also fits my Sigma 16mm on the M50).
