DCI 2022. Highlights from my first @DCI!
I delved into the archives to find the snippets I recorded from my first ever experience of DCI in 2022.
To say I was blown away with the excellence, sound, technique, talent and professionalism would be an understatement.
This video covers some footage from Military Park, the stadium lot, the Saturday morning festival and, of course, performances from the finals.
I had super 3 tickets and wasn’t able to stay very long in the park, so the footage there is limited, but I

I attended the National Brass Band Championship finals held at the world-famous Royal Albert Hall in London. I deconstructed a few performances and sewed them back together to form one piece of music. After the interest shown and comments from my 2024 highlights video, I went back and took a look at my videos from @DCI 2023. I have everyone from Spirit of Atlanta to the champions Blue Devils. 2002 National Brass Band Championship of Great Britain Finals. Royal Albert Hall, London Sat 19 Oct 2002. The band were placed 12th, just one place behind fellow Londoners, Redbridge Brass. Winners were Williams Fairey, Yorkshire Building Society 6th, Besses O' Th' Barn 13th and Travelsphere Holidays 16th.

Cory delivered the most exciting performance for me, very hard done by to come 4th. Flowers the cleanest though and deserved to win overall.
The results were fair dinkum IMO
If there is a longer recording of Friary playing available i would really appreciate if you would be willing to send across to me. It was my first time playing at this contest so would love a record of it!

Phantom regiment had one of the coolest shows i’ve seen in a long time. So happy for them beating out the other big time corps and getting 4th place!

That Phantom Z-pull was the single most powerful and emotion inducing tribute to The Cadets of the year.

This is terrific! Thank you for making this, editing it and sharing! We were in military park also, and as you know, it’s so difficult to pick and choose where you want to be. FOMO is real! This is wonderful to come back to as we all miss drum corps in the off-season.
@@gingersparkle7519 thank you so much for the response and for the understanding on the “where to be” issue. If only I could have split myself in 3! You can hear some moments where there are other corps playing and you can imagine what I was thinking haha! But I think I got some good clips from most corps, so on balance I was really happy.

What time did it end on Saturday night? We left about 10:15 and it looked as if there was quite a bit more to come.
@@Neal_Schier sorry for the slow reply. Just picked up your question now. Carolina Crown finished around 11.20pm. Boston should have been on after them, but they had left by then. I understand there were a few players unwell. It’s a pity that the weather led to standstill contributions (no one did their full show or even close to it). It was ironic that bar 5 mins of a very light passing drizzle, it never rained again that night. They could have all done full runs, though it would have been still going strong well after midnight.
@@nigelbrinklow8011 Thank you. A shame overall for us punters who wanted to see the show, but a real shame for the young folk who worked hard and came to compete.
