Excited To Support Manifold 3D Geometry Kernel In BITBYBIT DEV Platform For Creative CAD Programming
We’re excited to announce that the Manifold 3D geometry kernel is now part of the bitbybit family! This powerful library has been integrated into our platform, so you can use it seamlessly with #BabylonJS and #ThreeJS game engines, as well as in our visual programming editors and the bitbybit-runner.js library.
The Manifold kernel provides a range of mesh-based features and includes tools from Clipper V2 for offsets and other operations on cross-sections. It’s not only packed with capabilities but also incredibly fast. Running in your browser via WebAssembly, we’ve ensured it operates in a non-blocking WebWorker, so all library methods are asynchronous-your UI stays smooth and responsive.
We’ve prepared a few demo projects for you to explore and see its capabilities in action.
A big thank you to Emmett Lalish for starting this amazing project. We hope you enjoy using it!

CAD done, they really make game engine in JavaScript 🥲 after this
Although I don't have the time or skill to make use of this right now, I deeply appreciate what you've done. This is amazing.
Hi Christian, thanks for your comment, means a lot to get some good responses. I'd say keep it in mind and at some point when you'll need some procedural geometry that could not be made with native meshing operations, reach out 😉We can help with consulting or even coding. Have a great day!
Is there a way to produce a free version with a watermark? Since it's a complex software with a steep learning curve, having a free version (in addition to the 14-day trial) would allow us to test it. With this knowledge, we could sell 3D solutions to our clients, who would be willing to pay for the necessary extension to integrate 3D into their sites.
Hi, thanks for your comment and sorry for a late reply on this. We're not planning to release a free version for this commercially oriented product. Learning curve is indeed steep, but it is mostly related with our parametric design platform that exists on bitbybit.dev and that is mostly free + open-source.

Is this…… blender geometry nodes?
I would say - not exactly, but yeah, idea is similar
const status = bitbybit.occt.noot.shapes.builder.type.with.feed.friendly.api = false
I get the irony :) Sorry if you find this to be unfriendly. API is indeed very much opinionated. Having said that - you can still try stuff like this: const { shapes } = bitbybit.occt; That saves some typing. The architecture of this api was tuned to serve purposes of our visual programming editors in order to sustain 1:1 functional mapping for code blocks. If you prefer a different programming style I guess it's best to build on Opencascade.js directly and just pick and choose algorithms from our open source packages. Have a great day!
@@bitbybitdev No, it's me who should apologize for my irony. I'm a developer myself, but I've been working as a marketer in an IT company for seven years now. I understand what you're talking about. I appreciate what you're doing and sharing in your video. Wishing you success and prosperity!

8:46 oh.. does "pass through" node work like For each?
hey :) nah, it just passes the same stuff along and has higher order output type “any” that can be plugged anywhere. It probably shouldn’t be under the lists category now that i think about it ;)
ah and the thing is, flattening output does change the original output type, but i do not adjust that type on the fly. That would be quite cool to do, then this passthrough would not be needed ;)
taigi taigi ;)

really enjoying this embedding approach 🥹
hey, thanks, yeah, embedded editors helped me when reading your docs as well :) A picture is worth a 1000 words they say, those editors do the same...
looks great. Did you follow a tutorial?
Hey, thanks! Glad you liked it. We do not have a tutorial for this particular design. On our youtube channel there's an old tutorial for lamp hood, but it is quite a bit outdated, as we changed and improved our platform during the years. th-cam.com/video/Vxng-VPeB9c/w-d-xo.html You canfind related project that uses updated code here: bitbybit.dev/projects/public/YQ0LWrb6gsx3jZqmu5vC/project-parametric-lamp-hood-model-by-author-bitbybit We're a platform offering parametric design tools and 3D model configurators to our users. You can find quite some examples on bitbybit.dev. If you have any questions let me know, cheers.
Smagiai pažiūrėjau:)
Does bitbybit handle a relationships between different parts? Or is it purely used for single components.
Hey! Thanks for the question. So on the side of OpenCascade we do not yet expose any logic that would represent assemblies and parts. The highest current OCCT level that we recognise is compounded shape. On the side of BabylonJS though we can create "instanced mesh clones" of compounded shapes that would optimally render such "components" as part on the screen by using smart optimisations on the GPU. While this would work for "viewing" purposes and probably could be exported as GLB file, it would not allow you to export the STEP definition of the assembly to third party CAD software. I hope this answers. If you'd like to discuss this further, feel free to jump to our Discord here: discord.gg/GSe3VMe
@@bitbybitdev thanks for your response. I've been following the project for a long time and am very excited about where this is going. Keep it up.
@@martincronje5242 Thanks! Support means a lot. I also made a small script that shows how instancing in BabylonJS works - I couldn't use the vase model seen in this video as you couldn't run it, but this is it: bitbybit.dev/app/matas/jGDfyAybiiJ6evdFYXrs/xhMJw92ZdJMxkmT2kxyO?editor=typescript If you use Chrome WebGPU takes care of the instances and so it's super fast to render multiple meshes that are equal in shape, size and material.
