    I agree with some of this, but definitely not all of it. I've been a pro carpet cleaner since 1987 and I see most of these carpets after they've actually been down for 20 and even 30 years. I agree wool is the best but definitely not for everybody and you have to be very careful about stain removal. One wrong stain product can ruin these expensive carpets pretty quick. Also, I think polypropylene is ideal for some of my customers and I also have seen it in rentals after 15 or 20 years with severe abuse, but they still clean up very well. For the overall general customer nylon is my number 1 pick for wear and resilience although wool is also very resilient. Some of these carpets do not do well in homes with dogs especially those that are not house-trained. Both wool and nylon are not generally good for dog owners who can't control their dogs properly. I've seen EXTREME damage caused by dogs quite a few times, particularly on wool and nylon. The same goes for area rugs made from these fibers.

    I prefer the latter of the unmentioned options which many of my brothers and sisters rely on to last till the end of time regardless the wear or tear and DOES NOT show stains or require any maintenance for the entirety of its use whether that be years, decades or even millennia…it’s probably the best kept secret in the industry and they don’t want you to know because it’ll just cut into their profits. But the most commonly used flooring especially in the exclusive far-east regions of the world that I’m referring to is..dirt. Kids love it, animals deficate freely in it and heck folks will always enter as well as leave your home commenting on the uniqueness of this aspect of flooring. The only foreseeable downside is getting it wet at which point it’s now referred to as mud but just avoid it for 2-3 days and it will (yep you guessed it) return to its normal solidified state at which point the whole family is welcome to once again roll around on it. 😀 👍

    You're the first person I've seen who's rated Triexta below Nylon 6 or in most cases 6,6. You even said it yourself, it's the softest, it's the most stain resistant, and the most resilient. The only con was you can see the traffic. I don't understand why it's below Nylon.

    What are your thoughts about the aquaguard performance? Comparable to the Mohawk and pergo ?

    • @miketomlinsonflooring3725
      @miketomlinsonflooring3725 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for your comment SAAS' Mom. I believe aquaguard is a water proof laminate. I think they sell that brand at Floor & Decor. I like the LVP products better because and SPC (lvp) product has a solid polymer core. There is no way that this product will swell. The water proof laminate however is still made up of HDF (high density fiber board) which will swell over time even if it is sealed. The only advantage of the aquaguard product is its thickness in my opinion. Most LVP products range from 4mm - 8mm where as the aquaguard products are mostly 12mm. The thickness helps in the area of less floor prep. I would just go over the warranties with the salesperson with a fine tooth comb and get everything in writing on your receipt before purchasing that floor if you like it. Thanks again for reaching out and good luck with your new floor!

    I like how some of the pics showed the joints offset irregularly, that is not in a predictable 'running bond' pattern. That's the biggest failure with any type of wood-look flooring. Regular and predictable joints.

      Thanks for reaching out friend. 20 mil wear layer is great! 4.5 thick is ok... I would put an additional .6 mm moisture barrier underneath this product if you decide to purchase it. This will give your floor just a little bit more stability and help with sound. You are allowed to go up to 2 mm thick with total underlay.

    • @miketomlinsonflooring3725
      @miketomlinsonflooring3725 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you for reaching out. I would use an SPC product that is at least 6.5 mm thick with a 20 mil wear layer. I think Coretec would be a good choice. Coretec comes with a cork backing attached to it. In your case I would add a .6 mm underlayment that protects your floor strictly for moisture. I know you are sealing the slab but you can never be too careful. I hope this information is helpful to you in your search for a new floor. I think the specifications I listed are more important than the brand name.

  • @awlthatwoodcrafts8911
    @awlthatwoodcrafts8911 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    We purchased some NuCore flooring (from Floor & Decor, which you might consider the Harbor Freight of flooring). It is the high-end, solid core product. It is 6mm, so not as thick as the products you mentioned in your video, but it is an extremely hard product. Scratching it is virtually impossible. Digging in with a cut piece of 12 awg wire, a key, a nail, only leaves a light mark that you can actually wipe away with a damp cloth. Installing some on our stairs, I ruined a Diablo 50-tooth blade doing the long rip cuts. To me, it's a pretty hardy product. What is your opinion of the NuCore line? Also, the instructions for the floor say to NOT put their product under any fixed object, like kitchen cabinets. What do you suppose the long term durability of the NuCore product would be with a refrigerator or stove on it? They make no specific mention of appliances, just the general term, "fixed" objects.

    • @miketomlinsonflooring3725
      @miketomlinsonflooring3725 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi friend. Thank you for your response. NuCore is actually an excellent product! I highly recommend NuCore! The only reason I didnt mention this product is because I do not carry the line. You will be in good shape with your floor. The reason you cannot install the NuCore or any floating floor for that matter underneath cabinets is because it will still expand and contract. If the cabinets are shot in on top not allowing your floating floor to move then your will get buckling because it has no where to go. If you were to install tile that is adhered to the floor and does not expand and contract that is a floor that you can install cabinets on top of permanently with out problems. You are a pleasure and I appreciate your questions and your tuning in. Thanks again
