The inspiration of this song was Nostradamus prophecy and of course the madness about how much money spent on new technology to kill each other instead of using this money to create a better world. On Spotify you can find my latest song called "The madness" by Nick Keez (my last name without the "n") with the similar subject. I wrote this song, and its lyrics, in 1988 and there is one recording done with Björn "Balle" Persson as a singer that was recorded in Roger's Studio which had a 16 track tape machine. Personally I like that recording better than this one.

Quite some years ago I wrote that song together with the band "Red Hot" - if I remember correct it was 1988, and was recorded 1989. It started with me playing those 4 initial chords - Em/E, Bm/E, C/C, D7/C (the D7 chord is played with C,D,F#). Lars Wendel, the guitar player, ask me over and over again, "so what is next Niklas", and within an hour the chord progressions and arrangement was done - also the bass (Mats "Urk" Olsson) and drum player (Per "Moltas" Nordström) were along in the process. Lars Wendel then made the lyrics a couple of days later - really good lyrics my opinion! After Peter ended his days as the singer in the band, Miqual "Cheeta" Persson, the new singer, added his fantastic melody on top of the chord progressions, and the result is what you hear here. We recorded the song with a Milad LC25 mic which has quite some output because I didn't know that you could switch to -10dB something with sticking a screwdriver in the mic, it was not a regular switch, it was like a trim potentiometer, which Thomas Niklasson initially didn't tell me when I borrowed the mic from him, so you can hear some distortion on some words in the chorus because of this. Thomas N. is also the one who constructed the LC25 mic for Milab and he was living a couple of blocks away from me by that time, so sometimes I went to him to borrow Milab mics. The keyboards used are two DX7 played simultaneous via MIDI. We only had 8 tracks to record on, drums and bass were added first and bounced down to two tracks, then keyboards on two tracks, guitars on two tracks, and finally song on two tracks. I was the engineer and Lars W. was the co-engineer - a lot of fighting about how much reverb and delay to use 😁 - I wanted it to be wet and Lars wanted it to be dry, and we ended up with a kind of good compromise ;)
