    • @Learn-Brazilian-Portuguese
      @Learn-Brazilian-Portuguese หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! While 'falar' indeed translates to 'to speak,' 'Fala aí' embodies a colloquial Brazilian Portuguese greeting, reminiscent of 'Hey there' or 'What's up' in English. It serves as an informal greeting. This showcases the adaptability and flexibility of language!

    • @brassen
      @brassen 3 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Hi there. Prior to being a slang, "fala aí" works similarly as "So, tell me". For example, here in São Paulo it's usually used with the word "beleza", which translates as "beauty" but in slang it means "everything fine/good". So, "Fala aí, beleza?" is a more flamboyant "what's up"

      @@user-vq6il4np6v Além de "estar com" e "sentir", você pode usar "ter" para descrever sintomas. Tanto "ter" quanto "estar com" podem ser usados praticamente de forma intercambiável e transmitir significados semelhantes, mas tenha em mente que pode haver uma leve variação de significado aqui. Usando o seu exemplo, "Eu tenho dor nas pernas", o verbo "ter" dá a impressão de uma dor mais prolongada, talvez crônica. "Estar com", por outro lado, dá a sensação de um sintoma mais recente, talvez algo que começou recentemente, talvez há alguns dias ou semanas. Nesse sentido, "sentir" é mais neutro e não dá pistas sobre a duração do sintoma. Quanto ao seu segundo exemplo, "Ele tem febre" está perfeitamente correto, mas você ouvirá "Ele está com febre" com mais frequência, já que a febre geralmente não é um sintoma muito duradouro, então as pessoas naturalmente tendem a usar a construção "estar com".

      I am Brazilian, and this also happened to me when I was learning English. In fact, I know why it's difficult to understand him speaking. This happens because of the abbreviations that we Brazilians use, which are used both in writing and in vocabulary. For example, if a Brazilian calls a friend to eat, instead of saying "Você quer comer aonde?" (Where do you wanna Eat) The Brazilian would say "Cê ké cume aonde?" Exactly as it happened at the 8:26 where he said "Vo da um rolê, até mais" instead of "Vou dar um rolê, até mais". I know it's confusing to understand, but watching videos of natives speaking will help you a lot to get used to it. I recommend you the video "How to understand native Speakers" from the channel Speaking Brazilian Language School, where the person talks precisely about this :)

    Teacher Elves, whenever I refer to "I" I speak with the vowel "o" and whenever I refer to "he/she" I speak with the vowel "a" in all Brazilian words that are in the singular, right?

    • @Learn-Brazilian-Portuguese
      @Learn-Brazilian-Portuguese หลายเดือนก่อน

      Correct, when conjugating AR verbs for the first-person singular (Eu - I), we remove the "-ar" ending from the infinitive form of the verb and replace it with "-o". For example: Infinitive: 'Falar' (to speak) Eu falo (I speak) Infinitive: 'Cantar' (to sing) Eu canto (I sing) Infinitive: 'Estudar' (to study) Eu estudo (I study) For the third-person singular (Ele - He, Ela - She), the ending of the AR verb changes to "-a". Again, using the same examples: Infinitive: 'Falar' (to speak) Ele fala (He speaks) Ela fala (She speaks) Infinitive: 'Cantar' (to sing) Ele canta (He sings) Ela canta (She sings) Infinitive: 'Estudar' (to study) Ele estuda (He studies) Ela estuda (She studies)

    I don’t understand how “a gente” and “nós” both mean “we” yet the one uses the verb “mora” and the other “moramos”

      Hi Van - thanks for your question! Gramatically, "a gente" is treated as a singular noun phrase, even though it refers to multiple individuals. Therefore, it takes singular verb conjugations. For example:"A gente mora aqui." (We live here.)"A gente trabalha juntos." (We work together.) "Nós": Grammatically, "nós" is treated as a plural subject, so it requires plural verb conjugations. For example:"Nós moramos aqui." (We live here.)"Nós trabalhamos juntos." (We work together.) So, the difference lies in the grammatical treatment of the subject, but they both mean “we.” Hope this clarifies!
