That is the kind of transformer where the electricity travel through the selector so be careful otherwise you will get a shocking experience.

For $20 I bought a whole suitcase full of standard gauge track I opened it up I can see two switches and a crossing and I knew if I took the track out I would never be able to get it back in. I have 2 the short green 🍏 passenger cars and 1of the long green 🍏 passenger cars l also have a modern American flyer standard gauge reproduction electric locomotive from MTH in bright orange 🍊🧡 enamel paint scheme. I look for you standard gauge stuff for reasonable prices to build an outside layout on. Looking forward to when we can have train shows again.

That's so awesome to see how nice of condition these items were kept in over all this time! I like the fact that your setup has the older K type transformer as well and you are still able to use it fine. They don't build sh¹t like that anymore my friend! But having both post-war and pre-war Lionels myself, and working my way up to the 275W ZW, I have since gone backwards to simpler times as well. Just found a almost mint condition Type B with the small top brass tagged transformer for my collection. The baked on black enamel is almost perfect. Spent some time and love on it last night actually, and polished up the nickel plated selector, terminals and brass with some Mothers polish with a Q-tip. Had to replace the original cloth covered cord with a modern version, but that's it! For work I use a certified Fluke digital meter, and somehow these "Toy" Train Transformers which were originally rated by Lionel as per use with 110VAC and testing this thing is mind blowing, to see how accurate they were and still are! Because we are no longer using 110VAC in the US one would think it would be a linear effect on the outputs of these transformers, but it's amazingly not.....? This as well as all my others are running at the indicated voltage per Lionels tags on 122VAC with barely any increases to their outputs. If they are 1 volt or less higher than indicated per the tags, that's all....... Very impressive stuff, unfortunately we don't know how to put the care into manufacturing products like this any longer. Something that's close to 100 years or more old, still operates as well as it did new? It's incredible stuff! Keep them Lionels in good shape for the next person to love and guard them, that's the greatest thing of collecting these things. Knowing I'm just a temporary holder of these pieces and I prefer to have them in better condition than how I aquired them, so they'll stand the test of time for the next person.
