My cover of Styx’s “Fooling Yourself”, partially inspired by Dennis DeYoung’s live version of the song. The synthesizers in this video were created using GForce’s OB-X software. All other sounds and effects were created through Logic Pro X.

GREAT job!! And with possibly my favorite lesser known Styx song. And not just the notes but the tones and textures. Well done!
Damn dude that was excellent! Replacing the banjo with the piano was a good choice and sounded great. I can tell you really put in the work.
Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Great Job. Good way to keep the Original lineup Alive!!!
Excellent work here! Definitely a song that needs more exposure.
What a great song, and you got every note right! Thanks for doing this one.
Beautiful! So cool to see it being played. And you even got the echoing "Time" in there. Good job! Thanks for doing this one. One of my all time favorites.
Phenomenal! JC would have been proud of this one I believe!
So cool to see you play this song, I love it!
I'm very impressed with your music. You are very good. Great video.
Amazing replication of Styx’ first track on their first album “Styx” I have to meet this kid! Thank you for being bringing back some great Styx music. Major talent and hard work!
Well done!!
As JC would've said: "Very nice, lad."
The vocals sound are very smooth and like the original version by Head Over Heels. Great job. I love that you used the twins extracted drums/bass
Awesome!
Nice touch with the August T-Shirt on top of an absolute awesome rendition of this classic song!
You definitely nail the multi vocal parts. So good!
Amazing job as usual Jake! Your voice is amazing!!
Thank you for playing our song Jake! (I co-wrote it with Glen.) So glad this is getting some light shone on its pretty face!
You play a show anywhere near Nebraska and I will be there front and center! Love this so much.
Glen Burtnik posted this on FB: "I was alerted to this young musician’s cover of a song I’d written with Mary Lee Kortes way back in the mid-eighties. I certainly don’t know this young person and discovering his video is surprising. I’m honored as well as amazed since, to my knowledge, my version of the song was never released officially by any record label. So, this young man’s tender and well done performance must’ve come from him somehow finding and learning this old, nearly forgotten, all but discarded song (perhaps from youtubes of me singing it live, or maybe Mary Lee did it or the posting of the version I recorded with David Prater, Jan Hammer, Doug Worthington and Buddy Allen - which I don’t recall ever being released). Thanks to Jay Lehman & Russ Salway for turning me on to this link and bravo + gratitude to Jake Griffin for learning this chestnut from before he was born. I’ve written hundreds of songs yet so much of my music is not available anywhere for a number of reasons (shitty management, shitty deals and even more notably my ADHD - want to be my helper?). God bless this kid."
Superb!!! Love the Wurlitzer jukebox in the background too. 👏 👏
Lovely - I'm honored!
Great job, can't wait to see more
Well done Jack, excellent cover ! You're a very talented musician. From a Styx fan since 1978 🙂👍🏻
It's awesome that you're starting with that first album. I hope you do "A Day" from Styx II, your voice sounds quite like JC's.
well done young man !!!!!!!
One of my favorite songs off The Grand Illusion.
Fantastic job!! Love it and spot on. Keep them coming Jake!!
Damn, son. That's tight.
Well done! I'm so impressed with the work it takes to put these together! Very talented!
Came from Reddit, this is so good!
Great Job, Jake. 🫡
Awesome Job. Is there anything you CAN'T play?
This was my exposure to Styx on the drums. I was a drummer for 40 years. You did Styx PROUD 🦚
Very well done. The gents would be proud. Would you mind if I share these on the FB pages?
Great job!
This is one of Styx’s hidden gems. And you nailed it!
Wow. That’s phenomenal. So talented!
Very Nice! Believe it or not, I don't think I have ever heard this one before. But I know you have perfected it. Great playing dude!
Why doesn't this have a million views? One of my fave songs. So surprised to see this young guy choosing to cover this particular lesser-known Styx but kudos.
Sounds fantastic!!!
Most excellent!
Fantastic!!
Amazing!! Best I’ve seen!!
Great job Jake!
Nicely done. You should consider having a guitar teacher improve your playing technique in both hands.
AWESOME job!! 🎉 Excellent cover of one of my favourite songs of all time!! 🤘🏽 Thanks for sharing!
That was very good.
Great job!
I wondered when we would see another posting! So very pleased to see this one, your voice is changing, more control. Keep up the great work and we look forward to your next piece.
