I love tech and retro is in my blood With this channel, I will aim to bring videos of restoring odd and old tech, alone with interesting electronics projects along the way.

ZX spectrum +2 : changing cassette drive belts
มุมมอง 2564 ปีที่แล้ว
This video shows how easy it is to take apart and fix the cassette drive belts on a ZX spectrum 2. As most of you out there may know some cassette drives use rubber belts to drive the mechanism, over time these belts where-out or start to turn into goo making the cassette drive fail, thankfully it is really easy to replace the belts. Link to the eBay store where i got the drive belts from : www...
How to Make a Simple Logic Probe

Vlog : Sinclair FTV1 pocket TV part 2
มุมมอง 1484 ปีที่แล้ว
In this Vlog we will look at the Sinclair pocket TV FTV1 from the 1980s and my ongoing efforts to not only restore this peace of tv history but i also aim to get video playing through it again. I stand corrected the variable resisters were in the service manual page 17 Sinclair FVT1 service manual: visions4netjournal.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/Service-Manual-Sinclair-FTV1-FTV2.pdf
Digital Super 8 project : Vlog Part 1
มุมมอง 694 ปีที่แล้ว
In this Vlog series, i am attempting to make a digital film cartridge for the super 8mm camera format. I will be bringing updates to this Project when i can but as this requires a fair bit of research this will not be a regular weekly Vlog. Comput- A- Dice : Electromechanical Dice
มุมมอง 2924 ปีที่แล้ว
This is my first video on youtube and its about this Odd little Dice i found on eBay which is a cool peace of retro tech, stay tuned for more videos in the near future.
Got one of these - best way to use it is to simply press and release; then you don't need to wait for the lights to continue spinning - quicker!
i will have to give that a go i was worry i might damage it :)
I know I'm late to this, I believe this model is called the TV80 not the FTV1, besides that do you think it would be possible to add a DVB tuner to one of these seeing as there is no analog signal in the UK anymore not worried how it would look as I have a modified battery which is rechargeable and able to design and print a new case to enclose everything if needed.
I think it was called both TV80 and FTV1 depending on where you were . you should be able to add a digital tuner in just add it to the antenna input and tune the tv into it.
What happenned to your FTV1s? Did you finish fixing this one, and did you end up making the custom box you mentionned in part 1, to house all the external stuff, RF modulator and Raspberry Pi? I'm currently going a completely different route. Taking the CRT tube itself, and making circuits from scratch to turn it into the smallest possible CRT clock / vector monitor / video monitor / crude oscilloscope (I'll see where I get with all that). Trying to make it look as nice as possible as well, this tube looks really neat!
Hi sorry for the late reply youtube never notified me of your comment :/ . Its still an on going process covid lockdown got in the way. Iv updated and remade my transmitter to use a pi zero so its smaller and the next step is to make its custom box :)
@@ElectronsNeeded Awesome! I need to do something similar as well, not sure if I'll be using a Raspberry Pi Zero or some other thing, but I have a few of those Nintendo 64 RF adapters somewhere, got them a few years back for that same application. Very practical little units!
On the TV you recapped, your CRT tube looks to be socketed! I've seen only one other FTV1 with a socketed tube, with no infos on it. Can you let me know what model number and serial number this particular TV has, and if the text on the label is printed with black or blue ink? Also, there are different models of CRTs, some with see through glass in front of the electron gun, some with white and some with darker underglaze coatings, making the glass opaque where the electron gun is. I'm trying to figure out what models have what tubes. Thanks!
Hi sorry youtube didn’t show me this one ether :/ ill try give a more detailed response later . Yes there some where the tube removes not sure which is older then the coating on the tube is shielding i have two of these TVs one with and one without ill see if i can answer the rest of your questions tomorrow when i have time to take it apart :)
@@ElectronsNeeded The service manual mentions the tube coating, so it helped me figure out what units come with the clear tube. But I never saw any mention about the socket. I have a few different models FTV1/A, FTV1/A/F, FTV1/B and FTV1/C, none of them with a socket. Those tubes are so fragile, I need to figure out a way to make the contacts more reliable at some point. The socketed tube is easily removable at least, without stressing the contacts desoldering and resoldering. I tried to find a production part I could use as a socket for my project, but the CRT pins are flat in a way that doesn't seem to work with standard breakaway headers.
I tucked my lava lamps sight😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
Nice. Technology Connections did a great in-depth video on these lava lamps: th-cam.com/video/16gB2BDXwTo/w-d-xo.html
For mine I used four 1k resistors and it helped with the LEDs staying off when nothing is probed
This was a great project, it took me about 1-1/2 hours did a professional looking build I used 3mm led’s and 1k ohm resistors all slides into a bic pen. I took the ink tube out and pulled the nib / ballpoint out cleaned with alcohol used 5 minute epoxy some silicone wires. Breadboard first of course and works great and looks great to. THANKS AGAIN
This is a great little project that can also be quite handy. Please, would you mind posting a line-diagram for this probe including which pins to land on the Uno? Thank you.
Hi there sorry for the very late reply i have been unable to find my diagrams for this ( i put it somewhere safe as you do ) but the Arduino i used the Blinky LED example from there web site the include diagrams on the web page.
Thanks, I was afraid I was going to have to disassemble a lot of the datacorder to get to the smaller belt but now I know I don't. Much appreciated.
Do you diagram and the ratings of resistor and led,??? Also in 12v dc
Great video!
Keep 'em coming mate. Good stuff!
I've always found cotton swabs break apart and create more of a mess than clean while being quite wasteful; a good paint brush does the trick for me.
yep i no what you mean, iv started using paper or wood stick cotton swabs to cut down on plastic wasted but after this video was made i now have some cleaning brushes two metal ones and two none metal and so far they work a treat :)
