Dembe's Story: A Child Protection Book designed by Children on the Edge
Children on the Edge works with Congolese refugee children in Kyaka II refugee settlement Uganda, providing quality early years education for thousands of children.
We were looking for a way to teach the children we work with how to stay safe and protected but struggled to find resources that were suitable for our learners, so we decided to create our own child protection book - Dembe's Story.
Watch our short video to see why Dembe's story was needed, the process of creating the book and what the children think of the story.
Dembe's Story is for children aged between 3-6 years old written by Children on the Edge with illustrations by Charlotte Callin. The book is designed to be a starting point for discussions with children around the topics of body boundaries, safe and unsafe touch, what different types of abuse could look like and what to do if a child or someone they know is being abused.
International Education Officer Sarah Ndlovu said “The reception to Dembe’s story has been fantastic. The child protection book is an essential resource for early years refugee education and would love to see it being used more widely. We want to share it with other organisations so that they can use it to help the children they work with stay safe and protected.”
Find out more about Dembe's Story and how you can purchase a copy on our website: www.childrenontheedge.org/lateststories/dembes-story-a-child-protection-book-by-children-on-the-edge

So working alongside Lear...

What about the 25% to 33% of "saintly mothers" in the US MURDERING their own babies out of "inconvenience", or encouraged to do "to shoe their power". At least these children in Uganda are seen as having SOME VALUE. With mothers in the US children have VERY LITTLE OR NO VALUE. Take a look at how "saintly mothers" break up families just because SHE is bored. And then see how these "saintly mothers" weaponize HER OWN BABIES against her ex. Why are we so concerned about the few child sacrifices in other countries, when there are around ONE MILLION BABIES IN THE US THAT ARE MURDERED BY THEIR OWN MOTHERS????
