It really is so annoying seeing comments saying she couldn't sing or she sings deeper live than on her records. She was 18 here, singing live even through all the bullshit the media was putting her through. No one was asking R. Kelly why he was married to a minor in interviews, they were only asking her. I can only imagine that caused an insane amount of anxiety for her. She died young and didn't have time to hone and perfect her craft. Obviously if she was here with us, she would've developed and grown vocally and the comment section would be different. The comments would look like "wow she was so young here" "omg her baby tone 😍" "her younger voice was so pretty now its deeper and fuller 🥹😍" like y'all do for every other singer, its just that she died young and all the live performances we have of Aaliyah is her singing as a TEENAGER in training not as a fully realized grown ADULT with a developed technique. Aaliyah could sing but she was also a young teen still finding her way. Think about when you were 18. Would you have felt singing live on stage? People judging you for being groomed and exploited, people calling her fast or blaming her for a predator manipulating her. She utilized her gifts the best way she could while she was here. Maturing is realizing that. Anyways she ate 😭😍 the chest to head voice and head to chest voice combo with the angelic tone WAS/IS still sickening!
