Camp Harlam 09
Once, again, another one of my amateur video blogs about America, you lucky sods. This time about my summer camp, URJ Camp Harlam. Its very Jewish but very fun and truly my second home.
I appreciate this will only be interesting if you are a camp Harlamite!

I am fully aware i appear to be an absolute loser, it must have been the altitude or the fluoride in the water or something... but they are some bloody good memories! At least I can draw a line under the dream of becoming a travel documentary maker.

2:41 when you figure out it’s Shabbat and there’s another Rhaman Verse 😂
Also, idk if u r a Camp Harlam person, or a urj camp person, but in Camp Harlam everyone wears white.
@@ethanfastag-rosenfield3957 well in most camp it is common - but not mandatory tho.
Awesome Birchat Hamazon!
The sleep away camp I go to does this same ritual every meal
This is the same song that Camp Coleman does except faster and differently. This brings back memories
Wow this brings me back, I went to Crane Lake camp which is a only a few hours drive away from Camp Harlam and we did this the exact same way! This video really captures the vibe perfectly as I remember it :)
Crane lake was the best
My sleepwear camp does that after every meal too.
very interesting, I go to Camp Harlam and we sing it a little differently. We also have very different hand motions.
greetings from mexico

[iminent=isMLm7d79l2] _____________ I have just posted a cool BigEmo!
Teach me how to pray for food , i'm hungry
das Gebet heißt Arbeit
How fun! This is going to make it so much easier to teach to our kids (we're converting). After you guys said the first portion, where do you pic up at? I've been trying to figure it out, but since I'm new at all this, I can't make out what you're saying because of all the noise. Cute!
@doosterchick11 madddd catchy
Banging also brings an element of a play and cute mischief when done by young people; not talking about it (the banging) being a centuries long tradition
Banging on the table is a very naturral human move when singing....there's a rhytm and a tempo to a song, and it's mainted and enforced with drumming no the table
I have one question and one comment: Is there any significance to the banging the hands on the tables? On Purim it is done to blot out the name of Haman. Why do it during the Birkat Hamazon? Or is it just for fun? And, It is wonderful to hear this. Thank you.
koyunbaba73 it’s just for fun!
LOVED this game as a kid. Ive been trying to remember what it was called for ages! Thank you!
YEA DUNCANNNNN
at jacobs camp in mississippi, we do it like that, but we don't hit the table as much as you guys do
We still dont hit the table that much, and its still the exact same at jacobs in 2019 😀
My synagogue, Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos, California, sings this with almost the same lyrics and melody! When we do in this on the retreats, people actually have to lift stuff off the table to make sure it doesn't spill from the strength with which we pound the tables!!
