The third annual Rockford Boxing Classic returned Saturday, August 10, 2024, as the Rockford region’s premier outdoor boxing event. Sanctioned by USA Boxing, the Rockford Boxing Classic drew more than 1,000 attendees amidst an all-ages festival event format featuring local food and beverage vendors, games and entertainment, and live boxing. The event's competitors featured three local police officers and two local firefighters from the Rockford Police, Loves Park Police and Loves Park Fire Departments, as well as an array of USA Boxing amateurs from three states. In addition, the 2024 Rockford Boxing Classic delivered its first-ever mascot exhibition bout between Hammy the Hog (Rockford IceHogs) and Rally the Rivetsaurus (Rockford Rivets).
As a free admission program made possible by event partners, event proceeds benefitted the Rockford Patriots Boxing Club, a division of the nonprofit Patriots Gateway Community Center (501(c)(3)).
