Tying the Halloween Midge/Chironomid: Introduction To Fly Tying Series
Had To put this fly out this week! This is a fun and simple fly. Tie it as a midge from size #16-22 or a Chironomid in #14-10. The hook I've selected for this fly really only works as a midge, however there are many good options for Chironomid hooks as well. This is a guide style fly and should be fast and easy to tie. The are heavy and they flat catch fish. Enjoy guys! And as always please LIKE, COMMENT, and SUBSRIBE!!

Tie this fly from size 16 all the way down into the 22-24 range. I like to fish this fly as the dropper on a dry dropper as well. The Poison Tung Sees a lot of time under a terrestrial late summer for me. Thanks for wat...

Can the Regal convert to left handed?
I also noticed that if you put the adjustment slide buckle of the front instead of the back, it keeps the pad from slipping downward. Or add another one as suggested by someone else.
Great review , it is helpful, I am getting that system soon. where did you get the pouch, one that expand, for water bottle, appreciate if you can provide details and where to get it.
I appreciate your effort and time in this review! I’ve been looking for an honest review on this system for several months now. I’m sold on at least giving it a try and I think Fishpond should, at minimum, should send you something in return because as I’ve read your reviews I’m not the only one.
you make it look easy
Thinking of the amount of materials I would want/need to stock to start tying is overwhelming, kinda like making a new recipe and forgetting one ingredient from the store... good video.
Hey man, if you put a slide buckle in the middle of the strap, you could have it sit in the center of the shoulder strap and help keep it from moving on its own
Great review! Thanks!
Cool video! Does that pack sag with a lot of weight in it?
Over priced
Everything is.
Awesome review! Best I’ve seen on the Switchback system
99% of my tying is on the Regal Medallion. I have a rotary also. Just a regal is easier.
sounds like you need to glue a magnet or sew some velcro on that chest strap to have make it perfect for you. that will allow it to stop and slide.
Does the waste belt loosen throughout the day?
Thanks, this is an excellent review, I was on the fence about purchasing this belt system, your detailed review of the belt helped me decide to purchase the switchback pro. Keep up the good work!
USA a safety pin to hold the shoulder pouch in place
Nice review, have tried to holster a firearm webbed through the belt? IWB at the front buckle? Wondering about weight of full sized weapon, it if will hold it, thanks.
thank you!
Nice comparison! I started with a Thompson A, then bought a locally made vise HMH Spartan , Then Regal Medallion, decided to try a rotary bought a Peak ( none of the fly shops near me carry Renzetti), had issues with the Peak jaws, finally bought the Regal Revolution, gives me the ease of hook attachment and rotary. On the not so good side the Revolution was $325 when I bought it. I am able to tie from size 28 to 4/0 hooks on the standard jaws. Typically when I use the rotary function is tying classic feather wing streamers, it makes bodies on 9xl hooks much faster and smoother. Just wish they included a bobbin holder.
I liked this video.
GREAT VIDEO!
👍
A great video ..
Hello awesome review. tight lines always
I've already decided to buy the switchback before I found this video but you just drove it home. I fish yeast around and most of the time I'm close to my vehicle, so clothing layers and lunch etc I don't really need to carry. On more backcountry streams where the hike in is more significant I have the ridgeline tech pack which is a vest and backpack combo. Great video
Whitefish, friend. 2:29
Recently, I got Traveler 2000, but the rotary mechanism allows me to smoothly rotate only in one direction while otherwise is unscrews and becomes loose. Do you know where I'm wrong?
Contact Renzetti. I have had mine for 35 years with no issues
@@tommyboy0379 thanks! I will ask them.
You need to set and re-adjust the two round knurled adjustments knobs on each side of the rotary lever arm. That locks everything along the arm together.
Features I like about the Regal is the flat place where you can put your hand comfortably, also a really great feature is the dark head. There’s nothing shiny on it which really is easier on your eyes when tying for long periods.
How do you get the bead into the hook. I tried and it wouldn’t make the turn
Get a larger gauge bead, as long as the bead doesn’t slip over or cover the eye to much then it’s good to go
@@michaelbacile8439 thanks
I’ve been binge watching your channel thank you for sharing
I've often been tempted to get the Regal, but a C-Clamp vise wouldn't work for me. My tying station is a small roll-top desk. The c-clamp, if it fit at all, would prevent me from being able to open the desk drawer. The pedestal version of the vise is about $100 more. I don't understand why there is such a big difference in prices.
Mine is on a brass pedestal. You can use that instead of a clamp.
Very nice! I like that you wrap the lead forward without having concern of knocking down hackle. Looks great! If I might ask...what brand of vice are you using in this video?
my freaking korkers have been pathetic. the soles seem to unglue after a season or two at max and we don't even have a long season of use here in MD. I am so disappointed, after going through the first one so fast I never wanted another one but then my wife thought she'd surprise me with another 160+ boots. Kindda wanted to return it but I had to keep it as a good gesture. Ofcourse that sucker didn't last more than 2 season. Im looking at simms now. Hopefully they'll last a little longer.
I put a few wraps of duct tape around the shoulder strap. I can still pull the sliding part down a bit (duct tape slides to the middle) and then slide it back up so it is on my shoulder. That 6-ish inches is enough movement for me.
Really good overview. Thanks
Try a velcro strap to secure the shoulder strap. It looks like it would work. Just sayin. I use a ton of velcro to customize my gear. Just sayin.
unsubscribed... i get that you don't name locations, but not even the body of water is (IMO) lame.... you do this for views and subscribers.... including that info would help your cause....
Location or Body of water is the same thing 🤔 Especially if you are talking about a creek this size 👍
That was fun to watch. Almost didn’t want it to end! SEI resident as well.
Putting these videos on here will just bring the Californians in droves
What map do you use to research your streams?
Looks like a fun time!
Coming up that way in mid-May.
Very sloppy technique. I would suggest you work on your game before posting videos.
so are these Korker Dark boots good for winter warm and tread for winter icy walking....i fall so much walking my dog and am older so looking boot to help me with that thanks!!
Personally, performance perfection possibly procured? Phenomenal processing, physicians precision peacock perfection! Persuasion phishing
Public or private water?
Public water for sure
Sorry you reviewed the Pro as most people will buy the 2.0
Welcome! Thanks for your video. You are a very good fisherman. One word of advice, take as much slack out of your line as soon as possible. This includes mending more often (to straighten the bend in your line when it is floating on the water). I think this will improve your hook-ups. Blessings, Gary R, USAF-Retired.
I've fished this creek countless times. A lot of fun catching 40-50 fish in a day sometimes even though most are small. On occasion you can even pull out a wild redband trout!
These boots are great until there is an issue. Korkers Customer Service flat out sucks
