PLAIN ENGLISH

เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 6 ต.ค. 2012
At Plain English, we believe the quote that says the essence of great leadership is influence, not authority. This is the frame of reference from which Jay English teaches every time he is presented with an opportunity to speak. As the creator of the Cross-Cultural Literacy Program, his passion for bringing people together around divisive topics is evident through the creative ways he engages & motivates his audiences.
Jay understands that lasting change in the area of cross-cultural relations requires a level of impact that must be based on both intellect & emotion. It is for this reason that he utilizes every interaction to focus on engaging both the mind (through humor & story-telling) and the heart (through personality, personal experience & transparency).

What percent of the current segregation is imposed vs self-selected? Generally, people of similar race/heritgae like to flock together.
Amen , well said.
Here is a middle aged black man ordering a half pint of gizzards and a biscuit…and an orange drink (called an orange spot) from a KFC in North Carolina. Cashier: “May I take your order?” Man: “Yeah, er um an uh (spoken like it’s one word), lemme git uh half pine o’ guizzuds an uh bischit….and uh ownge spot.”
Nice
Detective Matt Thornton i must say the Lord has taken u across the nation❤i love u for all u have done❤great Godly work my Brother ❤
Yeah, I never met either of my Grandfathers, YOU CONDESCENDING DOUCEBAG!! You want to know why? Because my Paternal Grandfather died in the coal mines 47 years before I was born and my Maternal Grandfather died 14 years before i was born from cancer caused from working in caustic conditions in the steel mills. Sorry you lost your Grandfather but at least you had the opportunity to meet both of them. BTW, My father was born after his father(my Grandfather) had already died in a coal mining accident and my father's 11 year old brother, my uncle, had to go and work in the same coal mine that his father died in for pennies a day to support the family. BE A MAN NOT A BITCH or maybe get a Cat! Also, my Dad didn't let it stop him. He and his brother fought in WWII, became successful business owners, investors, and created an awesome life for their family. Keep on contributing to society with this stupid podcast.
❤❤❤ Congrats Matt & your lovely bride to be!❤❤❤❤

Do you have a link to the study this sound really interesting
Sure, here is a link to the study: www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0272775715300959
Is that a skit ? No grown up person would say that with a serious face 😅 instead of giving higher standards to strive for this man actually says that catering for bad and wrong behaviours is good somehow. Not to mention that preferential treatment based on the colour of skin is called racism. Bigotry is strong with this one, logical thinking and accountability never visited
Wow u didnt listen at all 😂
@@Finn07Ai did )) contrary to your perception mine is based on questioning the bias of supposed "studies" as well as not agreeing to segregation of people based on inate features. Hope this helps.
@@DyadyaFedorTube well do as i did and ask for, then read the study. Before saying unbased not at all empirically founded stuff
@@Finn07A looking for a justification of a bad behaviour and then affirming it and caressing it is utmost destructive and unhelpful. Solely based on this i won't need to even look into that "study". Although if you would read it, do pay attention to the source of funding as well as actual presence of scientific data, not just "social studies" waffle
@@DyadyaFedorTube u refuse to look at the study so u have no ground to speak about it. You dont even know what behaviours the study mentions If u refuse to read the study u cant argue against it, you habe to know the opposition to argue at all
😮💨😮💨😮💨
why are you called african american, should be American. If i was black i would be offended to be called African American and so should all black people in The USA
That room sounds empty 😕
That's cuz it is!
@@crystalfelicia9924 Then look at the camera buddy . Talk to who's watching
@@michaeljones7853 You just said the room is empty. I agreed, wdy mean now? Likely an empty room!
Had about 100 people in there at the time. This was for a breakout session on Marriage at a Leadership Conference.
@crystalfelicia9924 you were looking around the room as if you were speaking to a room full of people, which is what I meant
Jesus christ is GOD and he is amazing Ministry john 8:58
Things like this can be understood and tried to be moved to better things. Maybe don't be upset when someone points it out and then be stubborn and not try to move forward. The point is it's illiteracy and should be moved to made better, not made fun of or like I said not be stubborn and not move forward with making it better. As far as hearing about people talk about reparations for slavery making college level education free would be really good like I've said before. Giving it to black folks would be a good idea if not to everyone.
I'm lazy
Had a good laugh when I read this! Lol
This should have more views. Jesus and Peter paying the temple tax (Matthew 17:24-27). This tax was required of those 20 years and older, but no mention is made of the other disciples paying it, which could suggest they were under that age. No other peoof or evidence. Also peter was the only married.
Exactly the conclusion that I came to as well. Appreciate you watching!
If parents spoke only correct english to their kids and kinder garden kids were taught to speak correctly ebonics would disappear and we all spoke the same language.😮
Theres Chinese South Americans Mexicans Russians that come to this country and learn to speak proper english within a few years to a decade. Theres alot of african Americans that been here for generations and still speak ebonics. Stop playing the victim card.
Shut up right winger
YEAH THE INTERNET IS AVAILABLE TO EVERYBODY BUT I FEAR MANY BLACKS FEAR TALKING LIKE A WHITE AMERICAN
Amen bro
If i use the word, "ebonics" is it generally seen to be offensive? Thank you
YESSS SAME QUESTION
You completely overlooked that Africans who spoke the same language were separated from each orther to sow confusion and prevent uprisings, and so had to communicate with each other and the slaver; from this arose a pidgin, which becameacreole language. You have to include this fact with any discussion about Ebonics, which is a de-creolized version of what our enslaved ancestors spoke.
Follow your from Benin 🇧🇯. Thanks a lot 🙏
Thanks🙌
Check out Dr Ammon Hillman at Lady Babylon to find out why they were teenagers!!!!

Haha Jesus was the 1st youth pastor. Love it so good & true
It really explains some things! Lol
Why is a 33 year old man hanging around a bunch of children naked?
This guy needs to delete his black liberation theology videos and stop the meddling. Rom 2:11 and preach Christ and just the Word. 2 Tim 4:2
What video did you watch? I'm literally preaching Ephesians 4:12. You mentioning black liberation theology makes no sense at all in the context of this video.
@@PLAINENGLISH I was referring to other videos you've done
The problem is that i dont know what God has called ne to do
Let's start with a question: What is something that frustrates you to no end, either in the church or out in every day life?
George Floyd died from cardiopulmonary arrest after swallowing fentanyl & meth to avoid arrest for using counterfeit money. He was a ex-convict who robbed a pregnant woman at gun point and he had a history of swallowing drugs to avoid arrest. Media lied to you, he was not a hero
Evolve church services so they are a place where people can worship God in a genuine and modern way. Remove the effort to be cool and hip to attract people and stop marketing plugs for trips, camps, books, and why I must give 10% … people are not stupid and they resent manipulation
They won't let me 👍🏾 it up🤔
Das rite!
werd. nah meen?
That may help explain its origin. But it has been a LONG time. Shouldn’t language skills have improved? My grandfather came from Mexico and barely spoke broken English. But us, descendent speak fluent English. And we were segregated too.
Congrats. Accents and regional accents still exist
You only need to speak proper English when you need to. Not all the time. Accents and dialects make life more interesting. I’m fine with a Chinese lady not speaking the most proper standard English. As long as I understand her, what’s the problem?
@@datboi42 What if the Chinese lady is just using that accent as part of the business show?? 😆
@@jf8461 eh?
Most people don’t know that we created the majority of the English language . Over half of the words in English derive from indigenous word origins . I could give an example if anybody wants to know . But most blacks aren’t African . We are indigenous to the Americas so it shouldn’t even be called African American anything .
We waz kangz!
Please explain more, i never heard that before.
English comes from variations of greek and latin words. Don't make up stuff....
especially when broken cockney from poor englishmen sounds the same
You have no idea.
So an African American is based on Skin color???????
It’s actually not African at all so it shouldn’t even be called “aa” most blacks aren’t even African . Me personally I’m not . I’m American Indian .
You’re not Indian because you aren’t from India.
@@nightcypha well actually I am, because if you didn’t know the name “India” was formerly applied to the Americas first. The place we know as “India” today just became “India” in 1947 the British gave them that name, which is why they’re actually trying to change it back to its original name which is bharat / Hindustan. In 1492 when Christopher Columbus came and saw “Indians” the India of today wasn’t even called India. India or Indian comes from him coming and seeing us living in abundance, living in harmony with nature we had almost Everything under the sun as children of the sun and he was so charmed by that and our mannerisms and nice behavior, how we treated them when they first arrived, he said these must be the people in god thus the term “los gentes en dios” which means the people in or of god. Indian- indios, in dios (in or of god). Not only that but my genealogical records proves that I am an Indian. I also have oral history that my genealogy matches .
@@nightcypha side note , you don’t know me so you wouldn’t know where I was from even if I was from the place called India today who are you to tell me I’m not ? 🤔
@@_estecate_ If it looks like a duck, it's a duck... You are from African descent. Don't deny your heritage.

Lmao😂😅 intelligently well put
1. Even if it were a thing, being marginalized has nothing to do with it. 2. If, in order to feel comfortable, you need to control the behaviour of others, the problem isn’t their behaviour. The problem is your own inability to regulate your emotional response to your environment. Believing everyone else is the problem, when it’s actually you, is a hallmark of pathologically self-centered behaviour. I believe the adage is something to the tune of _“The whole world is marching out of step.”_ So far, it appears as though your attempts to achieve “unity” involve bigotry, hypocrisy, division, and accusation. Either you’re really bad at your job, or I’m being trolled and I just can’t tell.
Amazingly, you don't seem to realize that you've given the exact definition of what minorities have been dealing with in this country for the past few hundred years. Your statement, "If, in order to feel comfortable, you need to control the behavior of others, the problem isn’t their behavior. The problem is your own inability to regulate your emotional response to your environment." It sounds like you should be over here helping me speak directly to the dominant culture of this country, as what you've stated is exactly what I'm working so hard to change to help create safe multicultural spaces where ALL of us can be our best selves, and not just some of us.
0.55 _“Many African-Americans are still relegated to very segregated areas…”_ What the actual fvck?!? What you’re describing is not only total horseshlt, it’s super against the law, and has been for decades! Your assertion that individuals are geographically assigned to certain regions based on skin colour is patently false. This is not a debatable point. What you’re describing is Holocavst-level behaviour. Your approach is deliberately manipulative, disingenuous, divisive hyperbole. That someone in your position needs this brought to their attention is shameful. For future reference, I’m not certain _“truth,” “positivity,”_ or _“teamwork”_ mean what you think they do. I believe the words you’re looking for are _“straw man,” “gaslighting,”_ and _“radicalizing.”_
AMEN THANK YOU JESUS HALALUYA PRAISE GOD ❤❤❤

You just inspired me to dust off and open up my guitar chords book and expand my horizons. I grew up playing jazz on trombone with a passing view of the complex chords guitarists played. I never really spent that much time learning much beyond major and minor chords on guitar as youth group music didn't require much beyond simple chords.
Love to read this. There's always room to improve!
