Changed all low ESR capacitors (Nichicon PL (W) series) All of them leaked underneath. With except of one 1 uF /50 V Measured ESR of the leaked ones. Between 30 and 50 mΩ Replaced with Panasonic FR / Nichicon / Ruycon. Between 17 and 30 mΩ After restating the screen wobbled horizontally. Can be seen at both ends. Took around 15 severed PCB paths to restore. Around Clock chip (alkaline damage/battery) Two vias needed drilling to reconnect layers. And damage around the SCSI chip. Where capacitors leaked (acid damage) Changed capacitors to tantalum. Used citric acid for clean alkaline damage (40 %). V Dorel Hello Friend, I would recommend these steps to try to repair: 1. Plug in headphone into the speaker / headphone connection Several times. Located on the left side. Could be that the speaker headphone switch has oxidized. 2. Check if your cable is original. The power inlet has built battery switch which could be the problem. Only cables made for rrecorders with battery switch will work. You can also add some 2-3 turns of scotch tape around the cable part that plugs into the recorder. This will make the switch connect. Very gently. Don't push it too hard. 3. If spets 1 and 2 does not work that means unit has problem with the power supply inside. Then ask someone who repairs this kind of electronics to check it. Thanks
