If y'all like this, search "Burt Bacharach, 1967: A House is Not a Home - Burt Bacharach, Piano, Vocals" on TH-cam- listen for time marker 2:11. After listening to this song on repeat 100 times, and watching the entire Blue Devil's 2011 performance, my appreciation for this show got so much deeper. The choreography of the show makes so much sense, with the house, etc. Literally makes me emotional. R.I.P. Burt 1928-2023.
To Everett Kim. What an incredible memory this is for you. During my Senior Year in College, at A West Coast University. I got to direct the on field Brass. All of those years playing, since 7th grade. I had never stood in front of full power brass in real time. There are 3 times in my life when I felt I was experiencing what "God" must feel. That was #2. In HS and College I had a key to the Methodist church to practice/play their Pipe Organ at any time. Playing, even simple chords, and listening to the reverb in the dark Church with my girlfriend was #1. Flying my own very fast aerobatic airplane across half of the US in half a day was #3. I ran out of money quickly. But I can say...been there, done that. Here are few songs that reminded me of what you might have felt and remember. th-cam.com/video/KV9UKMo3kN0/w-d-xo.html "Lucky Man" th-cam.com/video/Pjo45UoRcsU/w-d-xo.html JS Bach Trumpet and Organ Concerto in D Major
This is what's called a drum corps. They're the most talented marching bands in the world and have crazy sound. I'd suggest searching up God's Hornline by the Carolina Crown if you want to hear more of this.

Slop
drumline needs to play louder
This is so incredible to see live. Video cannot capture how this sounds in person. Its so insane
2:11 love how the dissonant chord is still bouncing around the stadium after the cutoff!!
Headed the SLIGHTEST edge in the trumpet section, but they had an amazing sound.
I like it when trumpets refuse to cut off with the last note...
why did the juxtaposing feelings of the random note cluster chords and the trumpet soloist almost make me cry
that guy at the very end got it right! Dayum!
What is the jazzy tune from 2:13-2:38
Their 2011 opener/closer Edit: the original piece is called a house is not a home. It’s a lyrical thing
awful cutoff....maybe this lack of discipline is why they often fail to win brass...
the screamer trumpet cutting off late was intentional
Still awesome
Made me weep.
That battery had to have studied their music so hard to be able to rest that long!!!
2:00-2:38 literally brought me to tears, ripped my heart out, then lead me to an identity crisis 😭📉 such beautiful playing 💫
The audience is really annoying
So are we going to talk about the guy with the "go bald or go home" shirt who isn't bald?
This sounds very good. They do a good job of holding the notes. To do these sequences, it takes practice. Very good!
Fucking awesome, horns win me over every time
Thanks TH-cam for recommending something outside of crown
This is cool but I wonder why did they do it? Edit: like in front of everyone instead of preforming their show I don’t know that much about dci so
I love this so much. So beautiful!
That was fucking awesome.
trumpet late release do it again quote my band director
Is there any sheet music for this?
2:12 sounds like the start of a Tyler the creator song
Which one??
Where is trombone sir this is Nigel not brush
The way this is conducted by the drum major at the end is so beautiful
JESUS CHRIST Loves y'all!!!!
2:13
This gave me chills. Ive never heard anything like this before.

I would give my left nut to see this live
So that's what it feels like to have all the air pulled out of your body
I’ve watched this video way to many times, get goosebumps every time though
1:52 Hunter Hunter?
this video has 666 comments on it and it was bugging me so hi😂
that percussion writing is phenomenal
As a trumpet player I don’t know if I could emotionally tolerate the average percussion score (not constantly the melody)
@@poplee6478 on the bright side, percussionists have better sleep than the other musicians
@@spike6192 hmm this went way over my head. Is this because they can’t hear or they usually can’t bring instruments home?
@@poplee6478 no, because we spend more time resting than actually playing
@@spike6192 AHA yes that makes a lot of sense lol. Percussionists and low brass.
