Guided rappel in West Grand Canyon
มุมมอง 2263 ปีที่แล้ว
June 2nd, 2021. Using the pull line attached to my harness after a carabiner block as a guide line to avoid a scummy pond. I descended first and dealt with floating cactus and a slippery exit. Joel came down next and was attacked by the cactus. I offered the guided option to Laura, Shelley, and Bill. This pool became our drinking water as later expected water sources had dried up.

Crack Addict Canyon - September 7th, 2016
Hey I have a couple questions about that plane wreckage in crazy jug canyon! Do you have an email I can contact you at?
except why is all your footage just sitting watching people try to get down lol? that must have been painful af
That's the group I took with me and it was their first time. Most of them aren't climbers and they did a great job for their skill level. My filming is still sub par but I'm purposely getting others working on problems so that my videos aren't just me panting with vomit inducing helmet cam. :)
nice -- i just did this yesterday! Posted a video on it!
Your videos are closer to what mine should be. With narration, maps, and shorter. Thanks for posting and sharing. That rappel station from the top is just above the blank section you pointed out.
Whats the story on the plane wreckage?
From what I can find online. The pilot and passenger took off in September 17th of 1985 from Pearce Ferry believed heading toward Kanab. Family reported them missing four days later. There was an unsuccessful search and then a military helicopter found them 13 days later. Both occupants perished. Tail number N6566H. Abbreviated from a NTSB 416 page PDF of 1985 civil aviation accidents
That looks amazing, where was this?
Near Four Peaks, AZ
That's really cool Merlin! Quite the adventure!
Thanks Dave
nice climb.
Thank you. The park is full of great routes
Looks like a lot of fun Merlin!
Fun group in a beautiful location. Good memories. I think we filtered this water as it was the best we had access to. Very warm and dry trip
Nice!!!! Much heady. Many funs.
Fun on a beautiful day. About as much exposure as I can handle
That dude Cory is one cool dude!!
You should see him at karaoke!
Very cool dude, looks like a blast!
Fun times. Thank you
I suggest using a prepackaged rope bag for the 320’. tie and toss. That looked like a mess up there. Such an awesome place.
Agreed, hopefully this painful stretch of video is a lesson for others. It was my laziness that created much more work at the rap station. I know better. A reminder each time I watch it
Great video. Thank you for posting. We are planning to Neon 7/1/2019. If we do the sport entry will we need full wetsuits or do you think shorties will be ok?
If submersion is likely then I always suggest full wetsuits. Comfort adds to appreciation of the canyon and safety. Be careful out there and I hope you have a great trip
Was the sport entry easy to find? Was it pretty obvious? Are wetsuits necessary if doing the sport entry?
We used GPS coordinates from BlueGnome and that brought us close to a wash that led us down to within 60' of the floor of Neon. We passed up the anchor originally and then looked back down canyon and were able to see the bolder and webbing that we returned to. During a more recent trip down the canyon I noticed two more anchors within a couple hundred feet of the one we used. One up canyon and one down so there's more than a few options once you get in the right area. And I always suggest a full wetsuit if submersion is likely. Worthwhile weight for the added comfort and safety.
Man that last rappel though !!! Still the biggest single stage rappel I've done. Nice footage !!!
Thank you. In the right conditions, it's a real beautiful place. Glad it's nearby in Arizona
