We bought the cheapest BMW X5 on eBay - Back on the road - Drive to Scarborough to clean the EGR. We have managed to get our beloved BMW mostly repaired since our trip back from Bulgaria where it developed a nasty grinding noise, the air suspension failed, the parking brake failed and the tyres failed! We bought the cheapest Audi Q7 on eBay. What could possibly go wrong? I take several trains crossing through central London on a bank holiday to go and buy the cheapest Audi Q7 on eBay which is located in Axminster, Devon in the South West, UK. If It's no good I have a very small amount of time to get another train home before its too late to make it back to Doncaster. Will the car be worth it!...

Don't drink the coffee on this ship it is horrible.
You do know this was an ex metropolitan armed response police car don’t you? (I haven’t seen your other videos) just want to make you aware!
That is interesting. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was.
@@emzfamilyyeah man, just type in LD14 JYN and you’ll see the photos of it on google!
You are aware you can do a dpf delete ? For me its the best option becouse for a bmw to regen , fuel has to be a certain level ( above quarter tank i think) glow plugs have to be tip top , and you have to be doing high speed over certain hours ( 2 i think ) ill look for the video link that explains in detail
@@qollinsqollo2293yeah unfortunately it’s illegal to remove the DPF in the UK. The car does regen the DPF. We have made it do it quite a bit. I suspect it’s the EGR mainly that’s the issue.
Great buy , i hope it serves you well , i got one as well from a very good man , its been trouble free for 8 months and its on 183K miles
We haven’t been as fortunate I’m afraid. It was going well until I changed the battery. For some mad reason as soon as I started it up again I had the flashing coil light on and the power drops out so you have no acceleration unless you pump the accelerator. When a mechanic checked it over he found that the arms that control the swirl flaps in the air intake manifolds were disconnected. He managed to reconnect one but the other had lost the clip so just comes back out causing errors. I tried getting the clip back on myself when I got a new clip but it wouldn’t go. Trying to get someone to do it for me but the mechanic is proving difficult to get back. Hopefully we can get back on track with it but he also thought we might have oil leaking from the oil cooler.
Mssssnss
Jeez those tolls in Greece would drive me nuts, I mean they are not expensive but how many are there. The problem is if you driving a RHD car and you are on your own they are so awkward.
Yeah they were a bit of a pain. Rachel was doing the payment through the window. You can get out and just walk round to the window which I’ve done on other similar toll booths. Probably more of a pain for the cars behind though lol.
Odd thing here, after watching quite a few of your videos you seem to avoid Serbia and yet I love it and it keeps me away from Hungary which I am sure you will understand. But for the first time in maybe 10 years I am going through Romania and stopping for the first time ever there in Lugoj. We shall see how it goes. Love the videos guys. Just for your info I am s/e Bulgaria so will cross the Danube at Vidin.
We’ve been through there before. We’d happily go through again but it’s a weird place where if you stay overnight I believe you have to register with the police if you’re staying at an Airbnb. I think you might get away with it in a hotel though. We also really like Romania so it prevents going through there but we’d definitely go through again. It wasn’t a bad experience.
I have to say I have never done the IJmuiden to Newcastle ferry before, done the reverse a few times. To be honest I have always stopped to eat at the Brewers fayre just outside the Newcastle dock. Also found a great fish and chip shop on the pier at IJmuiden that I will be giving a go on my return trip next week. The food is so much cheaper before you get on the ferry but I must say the food is very good on the ferry.
We never seem to have any time before the ferry. We always imagine spending the day in Amsterdam or something before but reality always ruins it. The brewers fayre sounds like it’s worth a visit too.
Got to agree with you about Hungary, had problems there myself.
I always said the Romanian roads are the worst. Until I ended up driving in Bulgaria. And then the Romanian roads became a luxury
Yeah to be fair the Romanian roads have got a lot better over the years but the Bulgarian ones have got worse.
You can't even fuel the car normally?!? :O :D Bro :D
Yeah that is a pain. I dream of fixing that one day lol.
@@emzfamily Just put it in all the way next time, your car is going to be grateful for it :D
@@boris035..4 it was all the way in lol. The latest advice I’ve had is to pull it half out lol. I haven’t tried that yet.
@@emzfamily If it's not the half way then it's my suggestion, coz you were "short" few centimeters ;) "That's what she said" :D
Did you manage to diagnose what the noise was? Brake disc/calliper or suspension possibly? Not really the kind of thing you want when your on such a long journey, sounds like you managed to get home ok though 👌
Well not entirely. I had a mechanic look it over and he said the brake calliper retaining clip was loose so he sorted that but he said he could see no evidence of grinding. The car has been sat up for a bit as for some reason the air suspension went on one side too. That’s at the back though so unrelated we think. I got the same guy to replace both air bags and put in a new park brake. Really good guy actually that comes out and does it on your drive way. The tyre that went flat just before we left has done that again now so that needs repairing. I picked up a cheap old Audi Q7 as I assumed this was going to be a long process of fixing all the bits on the BMW and that I think might be worse than the X5 lol. I’ve done a video of me going to get it on the train which I need to edit. I’m not having much luck with cars but the guy thinks the BMW is now ok apart from the tyre and he said to use some DPF cleaning fluid first to see if it clears the EGR stuff which I’ve yet to do. Weather has been pretty rubbish over here which hasn’t helped with things. I might do a short video of a trip cleaning the DPF and see whether we get any other weird issues. He did also reconnect the air intake as that had come loose and might have been the noise we had approaching Prague. It’s definitely a weird car.
@@emzfamily I’ve had an f15 x5 was a good car but very thirsty so didn’t keep it long, a very good long distance mile muncher I bet though. Yes q7 video sounds interesting keep up the videos all very interesting stuff !
hoe is we wifi daar me vriendje is er nu
Als ik het me goed herinner, was het er zelfs in de bijgebouwen behoorlijk goed.
keep moaning about that bmw so it is on your mind and now you are worried it might go wrong never buy a car on ebay go to a dealer instead plus turn that crappy music down its same rubbish sound puts me off watching crap videos
i would not buy a bmw from ebay a lot on there are dodgy for touring i drive a land rover deffender better perfomance mine i got in 2018 but the last i got in 2003 and that was a good car put over 2 mill miles on it yes you can get a toll box on line and pay monthly but it takes all your payments for each month
The car does seem mostly ok. There’s just a few bits to fix and it’s a really nice car to drive. Very smooth. You wouldn’t really know it had issues really. We got it because we’ve had good experiences with BMW and had an X5 E70 which was the best car I’ve owned up until this one. I’ve not had the same luck with Land Rovers myself. Two have had head gaskets go pretty quickly.
i have been on every ferry of brittany ferries as ima truck driver im on n off ferries every week i know about rubbish food on them==dont have the scrambbled eggs they are full of cream i have fried eggs instead
I quite liked the cream in the scrambled eggs. I’ve certainly had worse at some resorts we’ve stayed at. I don’t think you can beat a proper buffet breakfast though which you get on DFDS.
doncaaster to portsmouth fastest way is A1-M18-M1-A6-A34-M3-M27to pompy internatioinal ferries
We’ve never been sent that way before. I got sent to the M69 yesterday when I had to drive down to the same area because of traffic but I don’t think I’ve been taken on the A6 before. Usually we get taken on A42 and M40 then on to A34. We did visit a friend on the way to the ferry that day though too so that makes a small difference.
Sorry A43 I meant not A42.
did you check the car out on DVLA to see what has gone wrong with the car before you bought it to me it sounds like it might have been in a accident and patched up badly fueling might have been broked as well you need to get it checked out a 2014 can sell for up to £25000 another thing you can do is get a diognistic isck from bmw and put it in a laptop then plug it in yout car
Yeah did all that. Also a check on whether it was scrapped and all came up pretty clear. Obviously the odd issue on previous MOTs but nothing too bad. Yeah got all the ISTA stuff on a laptop too as well as an app on android. Fuel itself seems fine. Might just be a breather pipe. One of the airbags from the air suspension has gone now. That wasn’t the case when we travelled over. Perhaps it went on the way home. The noise we heard was not coming from that area of the car though and it’s only something that I noticed in the last couple of days really so could be a new development. I’ve picked up a cheap Audi Q7 for the moment whilst I get it sorted out.
I just realised I haven’t actually edited and put the videos up of our trip home yet. It will make more sense when I do lol.
I rarely buy extras because of weight allowance. I also only buy where locals shop, as love curtains and fabrics with lace, and usable gifts for loved ones. I might squeeze a few extras in! It looks fun!
Sunny Beach is a dedicated resort. It isn't really a place for locals. Pretty much all of it is hotels or holiday apartments. To shop like a local you'd probably have to go further away from the resort. I'm not sure this sort of stuff will be there though. It isn't available near our house. We've never seen it at least so I think its mainly only available in resorts like Sunny Beach.
Does it have height restrictions on the big slides?
Yes I think most of them require you to be at least 130 cm tall.
Very interesting journey, and excellent filming. Deserves a lot more views and comments.
Thanks that’s very kind of you.
Ahoj Díky pěkné video chtěla bych se zeptat jak dlouho trvá cesta na pláž ještě jednou díky kuji❤️ 7:05
Je to jen asi 10 minut chůze na pláž v Ravdě. Není moc daleko.
thank you for the video. could you compare other expenses such as rent, utilities, bills, and transportation too? also, I recommend you to use T market for grocery comparison since Lidl is bringing their products from abroad thus increasing the prices.
I don’t know about rent as we don’t rent in either places plus it’s just too broad across the whole of the UK and Bulgaria to compare, same with house prices. London would be very high in the UK but smaller towns would be much cheaper. Sofia or a small Bulgarian town vs a rural village would also be very different. Utilities are generally cheaper in Bulgaria. It’s one of the lowest in the EU for energy prices. The UK is very high but is consistent and generally works all the time. In BG we constantly get charged for air instead of water because of useless management by the water company so that sort of offsets it a bit. I’ve seen quite a lot of Bulgarian produce in Lidl. I think Bulgaria produces a lot of things like mouthwash too which I’ve even seen in the UK from Bulgaria. Fruit and veg seems to be mainly from Bulgaria too except outside of non seasonal stuff and bananas etc. Meat is also from BG mainly like most countries. T Market doesn’t really seem much different to me either. A mix of products from Bulgaria and EU countries. Lidl and Kaufland are just way more conveniently located for us. I’ve also never been as impressed by quality in T market personally. Transportation is hard to compare too as the UK would have better overall transportation for trains etc but this can vary where you are. London is great of course but somewhere rural in the North East is going to be badly served. Buses/trains in BG will be cheaper of course but less connected than in the UK. I’m sure UK prices will be higher too for transport but it’s faster and better connected. Fuel prices are higher in UK too.
hey, great video's!! i saw u don't smoke but do u have any idea if u are able to smoke in the resort? thx!!
Thanks very much. That’s a good question. I think you can smoke in most outside areas and on your balcony but not in the rooms or inside areas.
great video idea
Thanks very much. It was a nice trip on the boat. One of our favourites.
You made a good choice crossing in Bretagne she is a cruise ferry built in 1989 & is being retired this year she is in a class of her own & will be missed by many people like me who live in Portsmouth who have travelled on her many times, I’m really happy you enjoyed your time onboard 😊
That is sad to hear. I didn’t realise she was being retired. She does hold a special place in my heart too. I used to work on the Brittany Ferries web sites and used to see her name all the time. It’s only years later that I actually got to travel on her. I’m glad I managed it before it was too late.
@@emzfamily I believe her last ever crossing is November 3rd & I will try to make that crossing to say goodbye to her, I’m not sure if she will be deployed elsewhere in the Brittany Ferries fleet but I’m guessing she will be sold on due to her age 🥲
@@sdsferrodee yes more than likely sold on I guess. I have often looked up ships that I’ve seen on old documentaries etc as it’s fascinating to see what happened to them. Sometimes they are just living a new life. Sometimes they have been dismantled unfortunately. Hopefully the Bretagne will live on.
@@emzfamily I think she has a few more years in her with new owners probably in the Mediterranean like alot of our ships, I’m the same I like to see where ships have ended up & some I’ve even travelled on in their new lives, a lot of them have hardly changed inside just the new owners livery on the outside 😊
@@sdsferrodee yeah it’s fascinating really. Hopefully she ends up in the Mediterranean as you’ve said. It would be a nice sort of retirement for her.
35:00 very client friendly 😂
Yeah she was a bit miserable.

Hi we are coming out at the end of the month. Can you haggle like Turkey or is it a set price? Thanks
I didn’t haggle but I did see others doing it so I don’t think it’s out of the question.
Yeah haggling is common NEVER pay what they ask 😊
I think it looks pricey to a savvy shopper like me!
@@LindenButters I'm sure you can haggle with them.
Hi Just a quick question, were there any borders check from the UK to Bulgaria?
Yes there are checks on the French border, Romanian and Bulgarian borders.
Great video mate.
Thanks very much. Glad you enjoyed it.
For that price it was pretty sh*tty place for sure . Shame for that , Romania can do better
Oh yes it was just this place. Most places we’ve stayed in Romania have been excellent. One of our favourite countries to travel through.
Hi Folks. Live your videos. We live in Lomtsi. Where in BG are you guys.
Thanks very much. You’re not too far from us actually. We’re near to Opaka so other side of Popovo from you I guess.
Why not compare lidl Bulgaria to lidl UK?
Ideally we would but you can’t get prices easily online for Lidl. Maybe some items but not all. We took the view of comparing what we actually do ourselves. We shop in Tesco in the UK as they deliver but in Bulgaria we have to go to the shop so we go to Lidl. Tesco has lots of prices which match Aldi who are generally considered the cheapest in the UK so I think Tesco does compare well.
@@emzfamily are you in Bulgaria?
@@andycale8831 yes we are in Bulgaria.
@@emzfamily and me 10 years now
Just park your car outside the city center (where it's still completely free), and walk downtown. It's an easy and enjoyable 10-15 minute walk 👍
Yeah we’ve been doing that since this video.
@emzfamily You can park in neighbourhood Vazrajdane (Възраждане) - very close to both the city park and the city center, and take a nice walk from there. Just park it around or next to the apartment buildings. It is free there. No need to park at such boring and gray places like the parking lots of Praktiker and Kaufland.
Beautiful Bretagne shes a stunning cruise ferry 👌👌👌. Very elegant and luxurious. You must try the commodore cabins next time 😊. Great video. Ive been sailing on Bretagne for 35 years now shes kept immaculate 😊
Yeah it was a very nice ship and the crew were very friendly too.
I live in Croatia and get most of my groceries in Lidl. Most things mentioned are not items I buy but the prices in Bulgaria seem similar to those in Croatia. I virtually never buy beef here because it is at least twice the price of pork. The cheapest fresh meat here is a pack of 2 chicken leg quarters at €2.75/kg.
yeah very similar to Croatia I think. We were in Zagreb earlier this year. Lovely city. We really enjoyed it there.
Economist here. Yes, Bulgaria is cheaper than the UK. Grocery prices are mostly an exception thanks to the vastly different approaches to agriculture and food retail in the two countries. This video exaggerates that by picking an extremely british based basket (cheddar, sliced white sandwich loaf, beans) topped off with fruits and vegetables that Bulgarians don't normally buy - especially not from supermarkets - because the country has such a large non farming agricultural sector.
Yes, I'm guessing that in Bulgaria a lot of people eat what is in season from the garden and in the winter they have stocks of preserved food like pickles.
People in villages do but people in the cities live similar lives to people in most cities.
@@emzfamily If that were true, there wouldn't be large amounts of gypsy women streethawking veg in Sofia.
@@FlatDerrick there’s always people trying to make money on the streets. You see that in a lot of places.
@@emzfamily There are, but in developed countries they don't usually influence supermarket veg prices.
At 9:00 you show what is clearly aged flatiron (similar to Ribeye) which in UK Lidl is £21.50-22.50 per kilo, so the same for similar products!
Yeah more looking at the cheapest option in both countries rather than exact like for like. Cheapest steak available really.
Lidl in BG is not the equivalent of Tesco in UK! CBA stores or smaller grocery stores in towns are generally a lot cheaper than Lidl - only rich BGers and expats/foreigners shop in Lidl!!
There must be a lot of rich people in BG as it always seems pretty busy to me with Bulgarians. Always found the quality to be lower in CBA. Not sure the prices were much different either to be honest. Tesco in the UK completes on price with Aldi which is generally considered the cheapest place to shop so I chose mainly Aldi price matched items to put that up against Lidl who we find to be generally the cheapest in BG that has good quality food.
@@emzfamily maybe it is area specific then - where I live in a small town near Varna, the Lidl is always quiet and is considered the pricey place to shop. The small CBA in the centre of town on the other hand is always busy and definitely cheaper - a more limited range of products perhaps but I haven’t had an issue with quality - so maybe it is a regional thing 🤷♀️
@@writerlass5924 yeah could be quite regional. CBA isn’t as accessible either where we are.
You can park on the road at the side of Dunav hotel but it’s 1.20 lev/hr. Or you can go in Riga hotel car park but ask reception first if it’s ok.
Sounds like a good option. We shall keep this in mind thanks.
there is real good app for food pic.from britan Street bee.
Noboby liberated Ruse, Bulgaria was occupied by the Soviets after WW2. Also Bulgaria was never a Soviet country, since it was never part of the Soviet union.
Do they offer bread at the breakfast? Or something like pancakes or croissants?
Yes they had lots of different types of bread at breakfast. They also had pancakes and croissants.
Careful where you park in Bulgaria as they will stick your car on the back of a truck and impound it, happens all the time in Sunny Beach
Yeah luckily this didn’t happen. We have overstayed there before and nothing happened but I wouldn’t rely on it. We tend to park on the road next to Kaufland now. Which everyone has started doing since they brought in these rules. Pointless if you ask me.
dude you are immigrant potential criminal the same as me in USA
I don’t think so but thanks for the comment lol
Great video!😊
Thanks very much.
What month did youse go
@@davidowens1572 I think this one was end of August into September but we also have a video of when we stayed at the same resort at the Palace hotel which was June into July.
@@emzfamily which one would you recommend pal the palace or the mare
@@davidowens1572 I would go for the Palace if you can. You get an extra pool and the food seemed a little better overall.
do you live in opaka just wonderd what village is like ?
No we don’t live in Opaka. We just visited the pool there which is great. It’s considered a town but does have quite a village feel to it. There are more shops and restaurants there though than a typical village so it’s a pretty good place to choose to live.
And please temperature of swimming pools in the hotel and aquapark? Some people wrote, water is cold for their children. Thank you for information.
I think it depends when you go. If you go at the beginning of the season and the weather is not quite hot enough it could feel a little cold initially when you first get in the water but I wouldn’t say it’s really cold or anything like that. We didn’t have any issues and we did go quite early on at least one visit. If you want heated pools though you might be better looking at our Sol Nesebar videos as their pools seemed to be heated and a bit warmer but Aqua Paradise had the big Aqua Park so you would lose that as the slides at Sol Nesebar are good but obviously not on the same scale as Aqua Paradise.
The beginning of the season you think start of June or start of July?
@@marketasoukupova3470 I’d say the start is June and should be pretty hot come July.
Your wife is so sweet staying in the back with the baby.
Yeah she does put up with that to keep Chloe entertained.
Hi, please, Is water in swimming pools sweet or salt. Thank you for information.
From memory they weren’t salty. They seemed quite fresh and not too chlorinated. Just right I’d say.
