Shearing Trees from Fence with CAT 306
We are cleaning up a fence line, which also happens to be the property line. By using our shear we are able to keep the trees and debris on our customers property. This is a very efficient and safe way to handle the material and also minimize damage to the fence and surrounding objects or buildings.

Fence Line Cleanup - CAT 306 and CAT 299
มุมมอง 119ปีที่แล้ว
On this job, we were tasked with cleaning out a fence line. It was over 1,000' and all the material needed to be mulched or ground down so that the area could be bush hogged later. You'll see some of the material is still in the fence and that is because it would do more damage to the chainlink to pull it out, rather than let it rot out. ryexservices.com
Cleaning up Underbrush - CAT 299D

Cleaning up an overgrown area close to a parking lot. We demonstrate how quickly we can mulch overgrown brush, show the material consistency that is left behind, and control of the discharged debris, so that it stays in the work area. #cat299d #landclearing #forestry #forestrymulcher
Tree Shearing Time Lapse
มุมมอง 1052 ปีที่แล้ว
This is a Timelapse of our tree shear in action. While our forestry mowers could cut these trees down easily, the tree shear makes the work a little safer and more efficient. We can put the trees where it is easy to process away from other tree that the customer wants to keep or structures we would rather not damage.
Pond Draining
มุมมอง 2663 ปีที่แล้ว
This pond is overgrown with saplings and leaks slowly. It had a concrete spillway at one time but it has severely deteriorated with water flowing under the concrete. The spillway doesn’t not properly work now and backs up the creek, flooding the yard of the cabin close by. We are draining the pond, so we can clear out the trees and straighten the small creek/ditch to prevent the flooding.

Here we are using out Rut Mfg brush mower. Sometimes its easier to use this when the forestry mower isn't needed. We like to use this in some cases because it gives us more visibility to watch for cars (in this case we are close to a road), trash, and maneuver around saplings the owner intends to keep.

Those hydraulic lines are the perfect length, do you know what they measure?
I don’t know off the top of my head. I would have to measure and get back to you.
Thank you!!!!! Unless you order a specific size, Rut sends you 8' hoses as you know. Your hoses are perfect for the 306.
You know, this might be weird of me, but I find something strangely satisfying about watching this.
Thought this guy was going to go to work
How much do you charge an hour for that service?
A year or so later, have you used the cutter much more? Wondering if you'd still recommend one. Thanks.
Yes, I still use it and its held up well. I would recommend the cutter even though I also have a forestry mower as well for my 306. The Rut cutter is mostly use for thick grass and briars or honey suckle type of vegetation.
@@RyexServices great, thanks for the reply.
We currently have a John Deere 50G that we purchased new. At 420 hours it has been a phenomenal machine. No issues what do ever. I also like the CAT products. Looking at a new 306, but the 5 ton series seems to be that sweet spot for easy moving, getting into tight places like woods roads etc. We have a F550 and gooseneck so moving it really isn’t an issue. Just curious if you thought going to a 306 over the 305 was really worth the jump? It’s such a toss up. One thing I realized is you can only get the comfy air seat in the 306 line. They don’t offer the air seat in the 305. Anyone that’s popped stumps with these minis knows they can be a little bumpy on the back and bum. That air seat should take a lot of the bull riding out.
The John Deere 50 and 60G are both nice machines and I was fortunate enough to run a forestry mower on a JD 60G before I purchased anything. I almost purchased a 305.5, but at the last minute I was able to demo a 306 and to me it was no comparison between the 305.5 and 306. The 306 has much more compatibility than the 305.5 after running both. To me the 306 is just small enough to get into small places and maneuver as well as not cause great transportation issues. I pull mine with a 550 and a triple axle trailer, and can get it into driveways without much issue typically.
Good video. The music is annoying as FUCK!!
I just ordered the RUT 36” brush mower for my 3.5 ton mini ex. What did you adjust for better hydraulic flow?
The 306 has good flow already. I actually needed to turn down the flow going to the cutter, because the machine puts out more than the bush hogs maximum flow capacity. Which I can adjust on the monitor in the cab of the machine.
Lol did you just show us how impressive it is pinching off a dead stub? Lol just busting balls
Price?
I’m sure the price has changed now. But about $85k.
Personally. I would rather have a laborer with a story pole and laser, Than spend money on more electronics. I see so many machines not out there paying for themselves. While sitting idle waiting for a $500 to $5,000 dollar sensor.
Cats fucking junk
I have a 289D with same mulcher, just took it into my bush to knock over dead widow maker trees, it my favorite attachment to use.
Whats the squealing when you re-start the mower? Alos, Ive been looking at this model for forestry mulching. How well do you like this machine & how well does it handle the mulcher & boom & stick functions while mulching? Can you run your thumb with the mulcher?
That's what Russian olive needs. Keep it up!!
You don't want to leave roots is you are building anything over the spot. Especially roads or foundations.
Have the same cutter but in 36in. Great cutter for the price.
What type of mowing a attachment is that on the front of your Cat? I have friends that work in MGMT. with CAT? My son in law working on land moving equipment here in the DFW area and am using him to clear land like this in southeastern Oklahoma on the families new addition.
you prolly dont care at all but does any of you know of a tool to get back into an instagram account..? I was stupid lost my password. I would appreciate any assistance you can offer me!
@Callen Omari Instablaster ;)
@Everett Karter Thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im in the hacking process atm. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Everett Karter HOLY **** IT REALLY WORKED :O Just got access to my instagram account after roughly 30 minutes by using the site. I had to pay 15 bucks but definitely worth it =) Thank you so much you really help me out !
@Callen Omari you are welcome xD
Does your skid steer get warm running that with no hydraulic cooler? How long can you go on a tank of fuel?
No, I doesn’t get hot, even in July or August. I’m sure those machines with a cooler on top do run cooler fluid temperatures though. I use about 4.5-5 gal per hour, with a 32 gallon fuel tank.
Are you happy with it ?
Yes, it’s been a good addition, very happy with it.
@@RyexServices thank you for the response May I ask how much $ ?
@@heavenbound1536 no problem. I’d have to look it up for an exact figure, but it was around $10k.

Nice! What size cutter was this?
It’s a 42”.
Do you have to shut down the cutter to track forward?
@@scogginsatc461 no, it still tracks forward and backward. Although it is slower than if you were not running the cutter. Also, the boom and stick moves up very well while running the cutter as well.
@@RyexServices can I Facebook message you? It’s a little easier than TH-cam for me.
@@scogginsatc461 yes, you can.
It’s 4am and can’t sleep. Ran across this video. I’m in southern Cali and know exactly where this video was shot. My aunt and uncle knew the people that built this house. Lol small world. Great video and info
I like the stick steer for tramming easy ground but were In the mountains we pull/lift and move ourselves around to much and it obviously kills part of your boom controls so that wouldn't work but it's a good idea I cant wait to get ahold of one I currently have a 305 and a 85g johndeere that's about like a 309 I've been favoring the deere alot sense it's been turned up
We don't have any mountains in Indiana, steep hills are about it. One thing I didn't explain very well in the video, doesn't lose boom controls while in stick steer mode, it transfers to the roller switch and buttons on the joystick. Definitely not as intuitive to use at first, but I have found it very handy. However, no doubt there are still situations were I need to operate the boom and foot controls because I have more experience and comfort in that mode during those situations, but it's nice to have both options. it is especially nice for easy terrain travel or long distance travel. I've ran the 85G and 60G and there're nice machines, but I still like the CAT stuff just a little better.
Great explanation of how stick steer works. I wondered if you could still slew while in stick steer mode, and now I know you can!
This looks like a handy and neat attachment.
Questions for you how wide is the small bucket you have. Iam looking at this same machine with a thumb and I would like to dig footings with a 12" bucket how wide is the thumb?
The small bucket is a 12”, but the thumb pins are wider than 12”. So, when digging deeper than 18” or so, it will hit the sides of the trench.
@@RyexServices thanks for letting me know I figured the thumb would hit. Guess I'll have to take the thumb off when I want to use a 12" bucket
@@simpleman4196 you may look at Krypto claw buckets and forgo the thumb completely. That can be a pain to take the thumb off and on.
any tips on to. run that i have to clear. 5 miles for a pipeline never ran. a mulching head before
Hi Love this machine i will buy next couple months
How many acres is that? How long does it take for 1 acre of that!
The property was a total of 10-11 acres and I cleared 1 acre in about 2 hrs.
@@RyexServices Does it take a lot longer if it is mildly hill? (My Dad has 20 acres, and he is getting older, thinking it might be a nice gift).
@@paulperrea824 not necessarily a lot longer, but terrain and density of the material, definitely has a bearing on speed.
What kind of tractor is that? Brand, model
It is a John Deere TLB 110. Its a great machine for its size, sadly they don't make it anymore.
306 is great! I have one now for about 3 months. It is awesome! I have the quick coupler. Strong and smooth machine. Pull it with my F350 with ease. Got a ripper for mine, makes clearing trees very easy!
I’ve considered adding a ripper, maybe I’ll get one this year. I’ve been using a 3’ bucket quite a bit, has been handling it very well. I also added a forestry mower recently. I’ll have a video coming out soon on both.
303.5 to 305 needs cab redesign like this
Thanks

It’s a great machine! We love our 306. So glad cat came out with it because we were not impressed with the 305.5. We put a tilt rotator on ours and it’s unbelievable with it can do. Great video!

Awesome 😎 keep the videos coming
Is the 306 around 16,000 lbs? Wondering what size trailer a guy would need.
DIRT KING yes, just slightly less. Add a couple buckets or another attachment and you are over 16k on a trailer.
@@RyexServices Right on thanks👍
Thanks for the information. Definitely looking at the 306 when I go to purchase.
Looks like we are neighbors - somewhat . P.D.Woodland Services, LLC - We are in Owensboro KY and do the same as you do. The difference is our machinery - we have a ASV RT120 with a 84" Fecon mulching head. Its a little higher horsepower machine than the Cat 299. It has less ground pressure than the Cat. We also have a Woodmizer LT50 portable sawmill. I am looking for a stump grinder head and do like your Stumper 280HD. My other choice is a Ryan's Predator - a high speed disc but a lot heavier than the Stumper. We lease a 5 to 8 metric ton mini-excavator as needed - Deere, Bobcat, or Kubota. Whayne has not been good to us so we go elsewhere. I look forward to more videos !
Good stuff, man.
Great video!
id love to see this video again controls with your new flail mower , just take the pedals out n rest your feet lol i love it an also im looking to buy a 304.5xtc with all the upgrades n attachments im a replay so i can refeel those controls again 😯
You’ve got to get the ripper tooth attachment. I have one for my 306 and my 304 they are incredible for pulling stumps and ripping rock. Keep the videos coming on the 306 you don’t see too many of them out there.
Full Tilt Grading I’ve been considering a ripper, but I’m also wanting to get a mulching head for it soon. Those should be good videos.
I have the ripper also for my 306. Game changer for sure!
What's the price tag on that bad boy?
I saw the msrp is about 90 on this machine
It was about $85k.
@@RyexServices Hi Its 85 usd
How do you like the new machine? I got mine back in the middle of December and love it so far. What kind of truck and trailer set up or are you moving yours on?
We were looking at a 305.5 until we saw this...seriously considering it. We have a 30' gooseneck trailer + F450 which is plenty for this setup.
PS-like your channel, I need to start doing videos too, hope to get a drone this year too for overhead video and surveying.
