I cant believe im actually doing it!! Testing the Design of a historical Victorian skirt! ✂️
An inspired Victorian, day/ walking swishy skirt made from one of my absolute favorite French fabrics, yes, le toile de jouy in a sage-green.
I have been dreaming of making a skirt like this - and I have never sewn anything much before - Apart from my recent toile de jouy curtains in one of my more recent videos! Please feel free to go and check it out!
I have begun a sewing course here in France this term in fashion and design - or mode et couture!
Im feeling very inspired and creative and love to share with you my journey learning to sew!
Victorian and Toile de Jouy are two of my most favorite things so im in my favorite place here!
This skirt, as explained in my video, has been inspired from a YT creator called pour Victoire, whom creates a Victorian cartridge skirt and im very excited about making it!
I hope that you enjoy the video!

What a lovely video and thank you for sharing your experience. Full of useful tips! Hopefully my turn soon.
Thank you so much ❤️
Just found your channel! Looking forward to hearing more and gathering useful tips for my move next year!
🙏✝️🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🍁🍁🍁your vlog is very encouraging and explanatory. I am similar, can't stand itchy wool against my skin so must put something soft next to skin first. There are patterns, called Dutchess, I have seen in pattern books, like McCalls and Vogue, at stores, like Hobby Lobby
Thank you so much! I will definitely be looking for some ❤️❤️
It is wonderful that you have started sewing and the curtains have a nice pattern.
Thank you for your lovely comments ❤️
Thank you for your lovely comments ❤️
8:10 I like it very much, it looks very feminine and the marial of the dress also looks nice to wear,
Thank you for your lovely comments ❤️
My sister’s coming for dinner. My home is a hot mess. What am I doing… watching you make curtains. Thank -you for the this great video. I’ve been so afraid of making curtains like yours. You made it look so doable. and they turned out beautiful. Now I feel like I can go buy fabric. Can’t wait to see what you’re going to do next. Love from a new subscriber 🩷
This is so lovely to read ❤️ this made me also laugh so much about your sister arriving! 😅 Im so glad you have found motivation to go for your curtains. I know the feeling but you will do it and be so happy 😁 thank you for joining me on the journey 💋❤️🥰
Gold paint on inner edges of doors - delicious...
Wow. Industrious. And we get to watch. Accompanied by wonderful, delicious music. Thank you, so much, Annabelle. I've enjoyed this showing, immensely. ❤❤❤..e
Thank you so much this is so kind and warm to hear! I really appreciate your kind comments. Sending you hugs ❤️
I HAVE VISITED CLOVELLY SEVERAL TIMES IN 40 YEARS, BUT IT NEVER CHANGES. BEST TO CHOOSE A GOOD SUMMER DAY. YOU REALLY NEED GOOD COMFORTABLE SHOES /BOOTS, EVEN GOING DOWN THE SLOPE., THE COBBLES CAN BE SLIPPERY AND TIRING IF YOU ARE NOT FIT. A LANDROVER SERVICE CAN RETURN YOU TO THE TOP/ CAR PARK. VIA A HIDDEN LANE. FOR A SMALL FEE.
great stuff
i hear u

I've been watching this vlog seriously ❤. Obviously, you and Mark, like greenery, gardens, orchards, 🪴 🌱 🌿 🌾 🌵 plantings. Imagine the patience it takes to WAIT. Bonsai culture. Mark is going to try his hands, at it, I see. Can't WAIT for your next vlog. ❤❤❤...e
Lovely flower gathering. I wanted you to know the Ashlar stone lookalike in the stair hall, was once very popular in the 1860's. People who had large masculine homes, did their halls and stairs cases and towers in this style. It pronounced "baronial", castle 🏰 medieval. Then they had very puffy drapes in red or lavender velvet. The people with really deep pockets even pit the cut stone look on outside walls , at the entrance. Heraldry 🛡 shields, crossed swords, etc. This style was copied in the United States. There are a lot of antique houses from the 1860's in the N,S,E,W, with this effect. Many of these houses are Museums. Mark and Annabell, how lucky you are to have this in your home. Wow. Congratulations, for taking the risk, of taking off the peach paper ❤❤❤
Thank you Evelyn! This is amazing information! This therefore datés our house more around 1860 which is a little older than previously thought! It is very unique design I’ve never seen anything like it before! It makes the house feel like a mini fortress or something. I’m now looking at the hallway in a totally different light! Thank you so much for enlightening us about this! 😀❤️

The walls in your stairwell look amazing! I can’t wait to see how you decorate the area and what choices you make. How exciting. I love peeling back layers in old houses to see how others lived in those same walls. The kitchen is gorgeous, loving the shelves with the copper pots xx
@fionasstuff7349 Thank you for your message - we’re so happy that you enjoyed the video! ❤️
It's nice to see you again.
The walls do look like a castle
The shelves with the copper pans look great
They are beautiful
Gosh, where have you been? Missed you and Mark, very much. Thought, awe, oh, they've quit vlogging. So glad, you are back❤.
We are still here ☺️ thank you for your kind support we’re glad we have such kind TH-cam friends! ❤️
Lovely video, what camera equipment was used? Stabilzing of the video was good, mine jump all over the place, any tips would be appreciated👍 Kev
Nagyon tetszett köszönöm!!! Csaba Magyarországról 🙂
But Paris is still 50% less than LA. It's all perspective really.
Hello! Lovely to see you both! Pity you did not post some photos of the houses where you lived. They all seem to be very nice. The last one you mentioned (at about 18.25) the big 4-bedroom house in Normandy for 895 euros a month sounds like a terrific bargain. If only I could win the damned lottery!!! 😡😡😡(LOL) Regards. Claudio
Where is the place you live now?
Well thank you both. I was hoping to hear about the heat and you definitely came through. I'm retired and have been in the Seattle, Washington area for thirty-three years, but originally from Venice/Santa Monica, California and have been looking for a warmer climate, near the water and beautiful beaches, and was considering the South of France or Italy. I'm just not sure I could survive in that kind of heat, particularly without A/C or a pool. Thanks again and Mark's mustache looks just like that instrument leaning against the wall near the mirror.
we are planning to leave USA and are hoping to find a house in the south. What areas do you recommend that are more affordable but not in a big city? We thought the Var would be more affordable?
Hello Mark! Hello Annabella! Such a long time (nearly a month)! First of all, I did not catch the name of the town where you lived while in the South, could you tell me? Thanks! I was surprised by the extremely high temperatures you had over there; it did sound more like Sicily in the summer! Regards, Claudio 😍 PS: Mark looks like a WW1 Tommy!😁😁😁
Hi Claudio, we were in le Cannet des Maures so not a town but Le Luc was near and st Tropez was 20 mins away. Great to hear from you, you have made me chuckle 😁
@@annabellazsanctuary I am glad I made you chuckle! 😁Thank you for the information, I shall look for that place on the Internet. I am still shocked by the extremely high temperatures over there. Regards! 😍
Je suis heureux que j'ai trouvé ce canal.
Charming couple, enjoy La Douce France.
Thank you! ❤️

Interesting bldg Did notice the earthen steps, base and 1st monument to a really famous individual. 2nd defenses added when Roman's left and wars among small countries eternal fighting. Then it's total refit under Wm the Bastard, later The Conqueror. Then it's demise, the Parliamental army laying waste.
this is my first encounter with your channel and i loved the content. I have also subscribed and looking forward to watch more videos. The only thing that i found a bit disturbing was the weird chinese or indian meditative music background which are not at all in sync with the exquisite 18th century french beauty of such a chateau and gardens. I would have chosen a stunning classical music or even a soothing meditative one but definitely not chinese :).
Thank you for your comments and joining us on our adventures! I understand your view on the music choice; I choose this music very naturally as this beautiful chateau has its gardens designed and inspired by previous owners and generations of their worldly travels to the orient and Asia and anything chinoiserie was highly fashionable only for the super bourgeoisie society! So this is ‘why’ I loved this musical choice it seemed to fit perfectly to their attempt to recreate the atmosphere from their travels through planting choices, the water features and decor collections. ❤️
Very interesting sights seeing. You are accomplishing much, in your finding more positive material for us to watch and enjoy. Thank you Annabelle and Mark. Apple cider is delicious but pear cider is even more scrumptious. Apple cider is called Cider, whereas Pear cider is called Perie. The fiddle music adds more flavor to your vlog. Best wishes to your summer travels...e 😊😊😊😊❤
Looks sooo fun, wow
I want to go there looks great
The ground covering plant looks like Delosperma cooperi
Where in France you based? Looks lovely 😊
Mesambreanthamum& purple
Your putplei succulent flower is a mesambrethum(sp). Crush egg shells to tetard snails 👍
Actually, your veg. garden looks great. This is not that easy. Thanks for the video.
Love the pop of color inside your dining room cupboard !
Thank you such an easy way to bring the colours into a room! 😀❤️
My peonies have no buds this year which is disappointing but my sea holly is flowering this year but it didn't last year. My rhododendron has just finished flowering. My foxgloves and poppies look great. Looked a nice drop of compost.
Your rhododendron is gorgeous. I haven't seen one that big, since when. They are native to China, as are Mimosa, a beautiful tree puts out pink flowers.
Nice to see you and Mark, out and about in public, in a nice town called Laval. Many years ago, our Priest was called Fr. Donald Lavelle
That looks like a really old and interesting place, I love the buildings
Yes definitely worth a second visit 😘
Hello there! Nice to see the whole family up and about! 🤩Did I suffer watching you eating those delicious cakes or what? 😋Today is my birthday and in a couple of hours, my wife and I will enjoy a delicious cake (a vanilla sponge with Chantilly cream and strawberries) and lots of coffee 😋😁😋It seems it rained during your visit, sorry about that. Mark looks SO English with his flat cap! I think that the flat cap is to English what the beret is to the French. How sweet was your little son waving from the back seat of the car! Cheers! 😍
Thank you so much for your lovely words and we wish you a wonderful birthday today Claudio!! Happy birthday 🤴🌝🎂
I was going to write "You deserve a big cup of tea (or coffee) and a slice of cake" but you beat me with the cookies. They look gorgeous and I am sure they taste wonderful! 😋😋 You and Mark deserve a nice weekend and plenty of rest. Cheers! 😍😍
Thank you so much we send you many good wishes from us, Annabelle & Mark ❤️❤️
