    Whaling was banned in 1986 by 89 countries, including those in Europe, including DENMARK. FEROES Danish protectorate located between Greenland and Scotland proclaims not being EUROPEAN to avoid the BAN. However, they are impatiently waiting for subsidies from Europe through DENMARK !!! This "tradition" of the Danish of Feroes would have been understandable a long time ago when humans were few with limited means and only levied according to their vital needs. Today, it is unbearable because much more numerous, and especially they use Aircrafts, GPS, speedboats etc .. while the whales are both confident and so few. During their dive into the waters of the Faroe Islands, Sea Shepherd found a large mass grave of whale carcasses, so it was obviously not for human consumption. So, when the Danish of Feroes say of the Grind (massive and systematic killing of the whales in the Coves), that it is for their consumption, it is completely irreceivable. FEROES DENMARK show the dark face of humanity in terms of Cruelty, Sadism and Perversity towards innocent animals and who do not shun the human !!!, This with impunity protected by the Danish police !!!! Even one of their Faroese writers, Joan Paul Jensen, wrote that "Whether it is a sport or not, in the sense that it is generally understood, there is no doubt that Grind is a true source Excitement and an opportunity to unite in an otherwise monotonous existence. "The majority of the population of the Faroe Islands is no more in favor of GRIND and wishes to stop this custom of promoting tourism according to observation of Cetaceans, etc. For many environmental associations and cetaceans, grind has thus become a kind of entertainment under cultural cover, but without legitimacy in terms of food resources, because many carcasses are abandoned.This is a habit of atrocities, An extreme degree of violence to which the Danish associate their children at an early age, and so they are also tortured in a "traditional" way!

    This so called tradition named the 'Grind' is nothing more than a bloody orgy of sadistic violence. One Faroese woman described the green of the hills, the blue of the sea and the red blood as "beautiful." One Faroese whaler said that a Faroese man is defined by the act of slaughter. The Faroese do not kill whales for money. The meat is polluted with mercury, PCB's and other heavy metals. It's not safe to eat and it is a threat to the survival of Pilot whales and other species of dolphins. The killing is done for one very simple reason. They love to kill. They admit to deriving pleasure from the slaughter and they take pride in spilling blood into the sea.They see the killing as "beautiful". Their children play with fetuses freshly torn from the bellies of their mothers. They poke out eyeballs and sit on dead mutilated whale carcasses as their parents snap pictures. And they view this as normal behaviour. Only a psychopathic mentality can justify this ruthless cruelty, this remorseless slaughter and such total disrespect for the sanctity of life.

      Mack man..You have made a logic and reasonable analysis of the faroese's behaviour..and I respect that..But may be you forget that the mind of human beings are totally different (regarding the conten), depending on customs and places where they grow up, and this is, at least for me, a very important point to consider ! Simply, I believe that each region of this earth has its particularities and only GOD knows what is true and fair of all things..We are just human beings and as such we must not judge ourselves...Most considering that even you do not know from where you come from, and I make reference to the very first spot, from where you have come out as a human being..! Universe is fair and if they are doing wrong..well, in that case, the own nature will take care of by itself..! God bless you and all the people that live in this planet..!

    You talk about expensive imports yet somehow a tiny little group of islands manages to afford 2 massive long road tunnels bored through solid rock which must have cost billions of euros and an international airport. So spare us your poor little us routine. You guys get showered with money by the EU. The only reason you kill whales is because of "tradition" , not food. Well it used to be "tradition" to burn "witches" in a lot of places but we don't do that anymore so your tradition is BS.

      boltar2003 Tthe Pilot Whale is actually a dolphin. The 800 of these dolphins the Faroese kill per year is insignificant to the over all population of this type dolphin. The Faroese are fisherman and are as legally and ethically entitled to have the trade of fisherman as any other economically developed or undeveloped country. The legally harvested meat from the Pilot Whale dolphin is not exported for profit and many of the Faroese have very modest income levels, so the meat is an important source of nutrition. You are not god, therefore you have no right to suggest what tradition or culture is legitimate, especially if that culture or tradition has no negative impact on the environment, animal population, or human life. Your argument is not logical or even founded in reality, especially when taking into consideration the plethora of genuinely alarming environmental issues of the day, i.e: thousands of acres of pristine Amazon rain forest being wiped out every year so farmers can grow soy beans to feed the hundreds of millions of cows that are slaughtered to make hamburgers for McDonalds lol, and you're worried about an Island that kills less than a thousand of a certain kind of fish!! ha ha. Maybe you should go down to your local Hamburger peddler in your country and protest a *legitimate* problem and truly shit of a new tradition, hmm?

    • @boltar2003
      @boltar2003 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      ***** "and you're worried about an Island that kills less than a thousand of a certain kind of fish" Whales/dolphins arn't fish you idiot, they're mammals. Are they're also intelligent mammals that shouldn't be killed just for "tradition". "other economically developed or undeveloped country." Oh please. You want to see underdeveloped? Visit central africa. You're little province - lets be honest, its not really a country, just a remote part of denmark - just does fine with all the handouts from Copenhagen and the EU so don't play the poor card. And if life is so tough - move. You can get on an airplane and be anywhere in europe in a few hours. "many of the Faroese have very modest income levels, so the meat is an important source of nutrition" Right, because you don't have any supermarkets there. Oh, wait... "you have no right to suggest what tradition or culture is legitimate" Don't be so naive. Tradition is not a good reason for anything. This is 2015 , not 1015.

    • @TruNordics14
      @TruNordics14 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      boltar2003 I know they are mammals, where the fuck do you think all the meat in supermarkets comes from? You didn't address any of my points, simply because you can't. you're kinda stupid, I don't even want to contemplate all the double standards that plague your dinky libtard mind. Of course you bring up Africa, your brain washed libtard maniac diatribe wouldn't be complete with out doing that. You do understand how perverse your thinking is, right?

    • @boltar2003
      @boltar2003 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow , does meat in supermarkets come from animals? Seriously?? Are you going to tell me the only food your supermarkets sell is grown on your little islands and there are no imports which is why the poor starving locals have to go and kill whales? I guess you must build your own cars too! "Libtard". Wow, you think that word up all by yourself or did mummy help you?

    all these stupid vegans and animal activists dont understand that the reason the faroese kill whales (and not even many in a year and only the ones that come close to shore) is because nothing grows here except potatoes and imports are very expensive twice as much as anything in the u.s. so either you guys pay up, give food or shut the fuck up pathetic idiots. Not to mention it has been done and will continue to be done for many years since viking times nothing pathetic foreigners say will change that. There are also very little apartments meaning people are forced to buy or rent a house and that will cost you ALOT of money, whale meat is free nothing gets wasted and all people from the village get their fair share and they freeze it for months to eat. Ide rather eat whale meat then starve trying to put together money to pay for an expensive as hell apartment or house and not afford food. You idiots do realize bills have to be paid right even the dentist office is a bitch since they are privately owned. So before you talk shit about something you obviously dont know do some research. These dumb people talk shit about whale eating when they do it in other places look at Norway and do they get penalized nope besides Americas farm houses are worse off so looks at your country before you talk about other peoples.

    Its just as neccosarry or just as unnessorary to kill this kind of animal for food, as any other food. You can pick out Any single food source and claim humans can survive without that single source. But the point is that these natives prefer this kind of animals over others and its far better for both nature and animals that they prefer animals that actually lived a good life, free in nature, then any industrialized food.

    i understand your concern, but the people eating the whales are well aware of the toxins in them, just as well as any smoker would be in regards to their cigarettes. but still people are eating whale meat and people are still smoking, it is a matter of choices that only they are making. all that aside i will agree with you that it used to be barbaric and cruel and the attention that has gotten has brought about changes in the hunting methods trust me :)

  • @EgholmViking

    we have hunted and eaten them ever since the first people arrived.. some of the only other food available was birds, fish and sheep and they don't pack a lot of fat. and don't worry the ecosystem is just fine (apart from the general pollution of the sea) no one is hunting for the whales miles and miles out at sea, it is only when the whales get close enough that the hunt begins, besides if the whales were to simply dive under the boats the whole hunt would basically be over :)

Annual mean temperature varies from place to place and is lowest near Vága Floghavn (6.0°C) and highest in Sandur on the island of Sandoy (7.0°C). Although variations in temperature are generally small from year to year, temperatures occasionally rise above 20°C. Highest temperature ever measured was 26.3°C at Vága Floghavn in July 2003. In winter, temperatures may fall below freezing point. The lowest temperature ever measured was -12.3°C in March 2001 - also at Vága Floghavn. Temperatures in Tórshavn are higher today than they were in 1873. This increase primarily took place during 1920-1940 and yet again since the 1980’s.

    Iceland and the Faroe Islands were settled by Vikings that came from the Scandinavian countries (especially Norway, and the other countries in Scandinavia are Norway, Sweden and Denmark). All these countries at that time spoke the same language. But since these languages have gotten influenced much from outside countries and the language has changes. The Danish language the most, the Icelandic and Faroese languages the least, and thereby closer to the Viking language then the rest.

    Thanks for the response. It was driving me nuts trying to place the language. I assumed it was a combination of a Scandinavian language and Brythonic...

    The people on the Faroe Islands speak faroese. Its linked to the old Nordic language that the vikings spoke. Today its nearest language cousin is the Icelandic language.

    Free range animals are not free. They are still captivated and deprived of their freedom. Unlike you these natives rely much more on real free range animals. Even their sheep´s walk free. They are not deprived of their freedom behind fence. You are clearly bashing the wrong people.

    The way you and all in the industrialized way are living is the one that is killing nature, and the high mercurry level you help kill this nature with is the reason that in the end will make these natives stop eating these pilot whales. Preferring meat from animals that actually lived a good life is not barbaric. What is barbaric is they way you and the industrialized way live. How you kill, torture and deprive animals of freedom. You are a typical ignorant hypocritice

    Except from some natives in Alaska I have never heard of any of in my country kills whales. I am amazed at how unintelligent you are. Seems like you think the millions that do not share your narrow headed view must be a whale killer. That underlines perfectly how dumb narrow headed you are.

    Why would you think anybody kills that many whales and does not eat them? Any educated person with any interest in this matter knows they eat all of the meat. You clearly know nothing about these people, why then comment on them? I suggest you do some basic research before comming online and make a fool out of your self.

    A industrilized animals has a sad life, deprived of any freedom. They get pumped with chemicals and jail under worst circumstances in tiny cages, till they get mass murdered in huge death camps in just as bloody brutal ways. Do not kid your self.

    Think, before you jump to conclusions. My people do not eat whales.These natives will sooner or later stop eating pilot whales, and that will be because of the polution you and the industrialized world are killing nature with. These natives are well are of how you are killing nature. I am right on the vitamins. Not my problem you do not know so much about those issues.
